new blog, nick? @justin yeah mass effect 1 is amazing, I haven't played ME2 because I am waiting for it to be cheaper. |
I know that one guy.
EDIT: @ Emily |
I'll prob beat Bioshock 2 over summer
maybe if I'm really bored I'll rent dante's inferno |
Is Gears of War 2 like, way better than the first or what?
|
dante's inferno is pretty bad tbh
imagine ninja gaiden but infinitely repetitive and with no sense of accomplishment if it didn't have the hell setting, it would be the most bland game ever |
dante's inferno is pretty bad tbh
Never played it but it def looked weak in all the demos and stuff I've seen. EDIT: How does Ninja Gaiden 2 compare to the first? |
its awesome, but mission mode is where its at
its the tech death equivalent of a game relentlessly fast and awesome |

on the pc you can pick your talents/skills (what ever they're called) so there is quite a bit of customization (and actual role playing) while the xbox has set classes where you just level up. And the Xbox has less items and it's dumbed down there was other stuff but those are the worst |
Now I feel like I'm missing out. :(

You really are, I was wondering why my friend was raging about how bad the game was. Then I played a bit of it. You might be able to play the PC version, it's not that power hungry. |
Idk I'm not a big PC gamer.
|
I've become disinterested with console gaming, PC gaming is so much better IMO.
|
I used to be into PC gaming, but it's expensive to upgade your equipment
|
I agree. With both of you.

yeah, I don't have a problem with playing games at lower than full settings though. I never understood the obsession with framerates
lol pc gamers
lol paying to play online |
As a hardcore gamer, I've had more than 6 years (1000+ days in hours of gameplay) to create my online persona. I'm often told by people less wired that the time I spend gaming doesn't amount to anything, and because it's almost all I do, I'm almost all a waste. I take a different stance on that. I've let others mold my identity for me, and it's has given me insight into how the world works, in ways I often find difficult to communicate. It's something you have to experience for yourself, but I'll attempt to squish six years into a few paragraphs.
I don't ever make my avatars to look like me. I've never liked the idea of creating a whole persona, and not exploring it in any way; I know what it's like to be a white male with long hair and a beard already. The first avatar I ever created was a strong, mean-looking white male character for an MMORPG. At first I preferred people to call me Robert, but as months passed by, I got sucked into the idea of being a big scary badass, and people started calling me by my avatar's name. After a while, I got annoyed with not being able to express myself fully. So, I made myself a new avatar under a new name, and put myself right back into the community that had established around me when I played a male character. This time, though, I took the other half of the generic action flick cast; I made a short, brown-skinned woman, who was unrealistically thin, and not in any sense scary. I spent the first day on this character only telling one or two people who I was, until the end of the day, when I revealed myself to actually be the big scary white guy. Here, when I was 13, I realized you could really play with people, pretending to be someone, so long as you pretended to be the lowest common denominator. I've found the ability to hide and swap faces to be an extremely useful learning tool. Even amongst people who knew my age, knew my sex, and later had seen pictures of me, they were much more willing to accept my friendly female persona, and aware my male persona took on more respect. So, I switched these roles, just to see what would happen. As it turns out, I was able to lead a group of roughly fifty people, which quickly became famous across multiple servers as one of the best groups you could be in, not because we were all excellent gamers, but because every day, you could randomly log in, and have deep philosophical arguments, or if you felt like it, talk about how your genitals were so much better than the next person's. The reason gender is important to this, is because I used my female persona, to bounce back male ideals from a female perspective. Granted, everyone knew I was really male, but there was never an end to exploring where, exactly, the genders start being genders. In short, it really freaked a lot of people out, having this image of a short, thin girl barrage obscenities, state clear and obvious misgivings about both genders, and otherwise do things that people wouldn't have listened to, if I was either some random guy, or even a big scary guy. What I created, was a group of people who, while they were waiting for the dragon they were going to slay to show up on the bus, would communicate free of gender, and race (the attitude of free race was something one of the members of the group instilled in us--his story mirrors mine, being a black gamer who would make white avatars). The point of this story is, you can't really say what will happen to any given online group, just because it is online. I've encountered groups of strict hardcore gamers who very well accept gender roles, and will say things like "my lady", and will wave a finger when you say one of many four-letter words. To express myself as NOT this has always been my intent, and I achieved it through the use of gender duality. |
