The more opinions the better, deep discussions are always good

clown_phobia 12-30-2004 12:24 AM

Which bands, in your opinion have a really good groove. I'm talking about bands like The Doors and Pearl Jam.

jpj 12-30-2004 12:25 AM

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Woodstock 12-30-2004 12:26 AM

Jeff Beck Group, Santana, Bob Marley & The Wailers.

clown_phobia 12-30-2004 12:28 AM
Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Yeah! they're good - but do we consider them Classic Rock? The definitve reggae band are very good.

Badmoon 12-30-2004 12:30 AM

Groove = Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd

Woodstock 12-30-2004 12:33 AM

Anyone see the Govt. Mule performance? Warren did a pretty nice solo, but he shoulda extended it out another 13 minutes.

jpj 12-30-2004 12:34 AM

Well, when I listen to Mule I just can't help but bust-a-move, if that's what you mean by groove.

I watched it, the solo should've been a lot longer, but it was good.

Yeah, he did good with the time he had. But he still owned almost every other current guitarist.

clown_phobia 12-30-2004 12:36 AM

Tell me about guitar dueling please.

jpj 12-30-2004 12:38 AM

Yea, I hope I get to see him with The Allmans this summer.

I saw in I think it was September. It was a far different experience from what I expected. They did a lot of long jams. I think Gregs voice is starting to go a little bit. He didn't sound bad, but he didn't sing a lot. So if you like jams, it will be fun.

Broken Arrow 12-30-2004 11:15 AM

I love long jams so iif I get to go it should be a great experience.

EVERYONE IF YOU HAVE VH1 CLASSIC PUT IT ON THE ALLMAN BROTHERS ARE ON! IT'S A FULL CONCERT! OTEIL JUST BROKE OUT THE 6 STRING

Also is Jaimoe still with them or is he dead because there's an old black dude in the background playing bongos.

Woodstock 12-30-2004 01:19 PM

Stop making me jealous, I only have regular VH1.

jpj 12-30-2004 01:23 PM

This show is so awesome, now Warren and Derek are like having a guitar duel.

magicbus 12-30-2004 01:41 PM

I also don't have vh1 classic. :upset:

jpj 12-30-2004 01:42 PM

That sucks, usually they show crapy 80's videos but every once in awhile they show something really awesome like this.

magicbus 12-30-2004 01:48 PM

Yea I've seen it at my friends house. Most of the 80's stuff sucks, but occasionally we'll catch some Sabbath or somethin.

jpj 12-30-2004 01:50 PM

Yea, one time they showed Van Morrison, The Doobie Brothers, and Peter Frampton in a row which was cool.

Warren is gonna make my brain explode.

Syncratic 12-30-2004 02:55 PM

I have VH1 Classic....how long's the concert on for?

Badmoon 12-30-2004 03:27 PM

They'll play it again tonight. It is quite long.

Seafroggys 12-30-2004 04:47 PM

Agh, hate VH1 Classic Rock. All that was on was Poisan and 80s ****.

Before this 'comeback', I told people that I liked classic rock, and they'd think 80s. Whatever.

jpj 12-30-2004 06:34 PM

The concert was 3 hours long. I only caught the last half and it was awesome.

Both original drummers are with the band, but they have a new percussion guy.

Yea there was some young white dude that looked like Kirk Hammet playing assorted percussion things.

lunch998 12-30-2004 07:38 PM

I wish I had VH1 classic. All regular VH1 does is talk about Paris Hilton.
