Because there's so much ridiculous **** in it that it's impossible to not see the humor in a lot of black metal bands and releases. For me it's just that now that I'm not into the genre so much anymore it's easier for me to see the humor in it and not be uptight about it.
And I don't make fun of the stuff I loved i.e. Darkthrone Burzum all that old ****, just stuff that either just looks ridiculous or is terrible music wise.
Hey, im still into black metal and I am not uptight at all about the humor and faggotry involved in such bands as Summoning, Drudkh, WITTR, Darkspace, NM etc etc |
Hey, im still into black metal and I am not uptight at all about the humor and large bundle of sticksry involved in such bands as Summoning, Drudkh, WITTR, Darkspace, NM etc etc
lol |
****ing barbed wire
ultimate bro black metal |
i just really listen to the main bands now in death and black metal particularly - right now im more interested in new stuff from other genres and just any big albums in death and black metal that i haven't got yet. i don't feel the need to have a wide knowledge of black metal
|
well thats because having a wide knowledge in black metal means listening to sh!tty obscure bands that no one else listens to (for a reason)
|
eh, the big names are good, but there tend to be unique more obscure bands in either genre
it's just sifting through the **** is ****ing tedious |
well thats because having a wide knowledge in black metal means listening to sh!tty obscure bands that no one else listens to (for a reason)
exactly and im not interested in doing that when i can find endless value in what i've already got, and i can also widen my collection to other genres |
eh, the big names are good, but there tend to be unique more obscure bands in either genre
it's just sifting through the **** is ****ing tedious
I pretty much only check out an obscure black metal album these days if there is a general consensus that there is something good about it. Like the Orrery album, checked it out and liked it a lot but never would have gone through the Australian BM scene to end up finding them. |
well yeah, thats how i am usually, but blind downloading is fun idk
|
i download black metal solely based on the amount of corpse paint a band applies
|
heil
|
i download black metal solely based on the amount of corpse paint a band applies
latitude for me |
I actually check the logo and if it has 3 of the following I check it out -
mace inverted cross pentagram sunwheel sig rune 666 eagle |
strictly lln :o
|
oh yeah handwritten with white-out is another criteria.
Why though? I understand the fact that you moved on from it, but it seems everyone who has went down the same path as you did begins mocking black metal, as if they didn't spend a good amount of their life listening to it.
Black metal can be silly, yeah, but making fun of something you used to love suggests you probably didn't have dedication to begin with.
they know it was just a trend now just trying to justify being trendy, like a typical response to being embarrassed, just laughing they then say its mostly **** anyway, as if everyone else didn't already know. most of everything is ****. most metal is ****, most music is **** (whatever you like in music), most movies are ****, most takeaway pizza is ****, etc and, they probably never dug too deep anyway | v
Because there's so much ridiculous **** in it that it's impossible to not see the humor in a lot of black metal bands and releases. Bands with absolutely no difference from the others (ie. that Swedish band posted above) aren't exactly key contributers. However, there is **** in every genre, and I believe I'm safe when I say black metal isn't lacking in that area, but some bands still have some conviction and meaning that isn't founded in a Myspace page. There's good and honest stuff out there, you just have to know where to look.
true, but he never bothered to look in the first place | v
Yeah I just can't be bothered to look anymore haha.
MA-ing mine, Dargon's, Cael's and Tyler's posts on the old TBP is not looking
Same. I have tons of black metal. So much other music out there waiting for me.
thought id throw this in there too to prove my general point, trendies always using the same defences, both these ones will be onto something else in 1 year, apoc too |
i'm just curious malfeitor, did you have another username before this one?
|
he used to be the gates of heaven/pesttanz
thought id throw this in there too to prove my general point, trendies always using the same defences, both these ones will be onto something else in 1 year, apoc too
i'm already taking bets for what i'll be into in 2009 hardcore and grime are favourites at $1.70 and $2.20 respectively. dubstep is the dark horse at about $3. black metal is currently the favourite for the wooden spoon at about $60 |
i'll be electro-mime in 2011
|
pfft i was into that midway through the third week of december 2006
get with it pete |
all the costumes and face paint that go along with black metal do get annoying and almost makes me feel stupid for listening to a band that puts on so much make-up, but i try to ignore this and just enjoy the music
|
pfft i was into that midway through the third week of december 2006
get with it pete
yeah well when i do it it will be retro-ironic |

Post rock is all ready out of style in ma hood, so i'm on to rave musicz now. Way more down with the peepz. |
The fervor in which male fellator defends his music and attacks others as trends undermines the point he is trying to make.
