Haha, well I usually skip the whole album!

One from each album: Orchid - The Twilight is my Robe Morningrise - Black Rose Immortal MAYH - April Ethereal Still Life - The Moor BWP - Bleak Deliverance - Deliverance Damnation - Death Whispered a Lullaby (don't listen to these wankers hating on the song, it rules) Ghost Reveries - Ghost of Perdition |
BWP - Bleak
Why would you waste the man's time? He wants to get INTO Opeth, after all. Try The Leper Affinity or The Drapery Falls from Blackwater Park. :D |
Or he could try Blackwater Park, since it's an awesome song.
|
My favourites from each album:
Orchid:Only Opeth album i dont own. Morningrise:To Bid You Farewell My Harms Your Hearse:April Ethereal Still Life:White Cluster/Face Of Melinda Blackwater Park:The Lepper Affinity(Favourite Opeth song) Deliverane: Deliverance/Masters Aprentice Damnation:Closure/Windowpane Ghost Reveries:Beneath The Mire |
I see it's turning into Opeth lists again.
/Resists temptation. |
I like DOTF rather than April Ethereal, but I guess thats my style, also In My Time of Need more than Death. Of course Twillight is My Robe owns all.
i've never heard any opeth song, but i wanna do it so which ones are the best?
All opeth is the best. |
I'll complile my list because I can:
Opeth - I haven't listened to it enough Morningrise - To Bid You Farewell My Arms Your Hearse - When Still Life - The Moor Blackwater Park - The Drapery Falls Deliverence - Deliverence Damnation - Closure Ghost Reveries - Ghost Of Perdition |
When it comes to Ghost Reveries I prefer Harlequin Forest/Reverie rather than Ghost Predition And Beneath The Mire.

To be honest, I like every song on Damnation just as much as eachother really.
|
Yeah, the only bits I don't like are the chorus of Death Whispered A Lullaby and Weakness.
Closure is my least favourite other than those two, but it's still a really good song. |
What is it that everyone hates about DWAL? I think it's one of the better tracks on the album.
|
Its kinda hard for me to judge the type of music thats on damnation, i just dont listen to it enough
|
I absoultely adore DWAL. It was my favourite on my album for a long time and still is one of my favourites. All the songs on that album are too good. (That includes Weakness)
|
Hope Leaves tops the Damnation album.
But I do have a weak spot for Ending Credits. |
DWAL is my favorite as well. The dissonant harmonies are amazing, and it is tied with Windowpane for the most fun song to play on the album on bass...

well, i got into Opeth with the Blackwater Park album. i'd recommend buying it, listening to Patterns in the Ivy and BWP (last two songs on the album), then starting from the beginning of the album and working your way through :thumb: then get deliverance and damnation and work your way back it might seem odd, but it worked for me.. a year and a half later and i have all the albums, and im learning Black Rose Immortal on guitar.. along with any other tabs i can get my hands on... hello, i'm new (long time lurker who found some amazing music through this site). and i have two whole posts now, hurrah :chug: |

The first Opeth song I heard was Harvest in about October '05, I loved it. I then downloaded Blackwater Park and Bleak, and was totally shocked that I didn't mind the growling. Those three songs then grew to have the highest play counts on my computer and then I downloaded the rest of BWP and I've loved Opeth since.
|
1st 2 songs I downloaded were Black Rose Immortal and Bleak...
Just so happens Bleak downloaded quicker and that's the first song I heard. :chug: |
Yeah, my Opeth de-flowering occured when I heard bits of Bleak followed by Blackwater Park on my mates Winamp after a party in the morning whilst hungover.
My first cigarette of the morning didn't matter to me anymore as I was in awe at what I was hearing. I swiftly finished the rest of my cig, ran downstairs and asked something to the effect of.. "Who the fvck are these guys!??! GIVE ME NOW, K? K." I then got Blackwater Park (album) and have never looked back. Opened me up to a lot of new music. Good times. |
What is it that everyone hates about DWAL? I think it's one of the better tracks on the album.
Don't get me wrong. I love the song, minus the chorus, which I find totally uninspired and repetitive. "Sleep, sleep my child". rinse. repeat. The verse and the rest is brilliant. |
I actually thought Death Whispered a Lullaby was a pretty good song. Sure the lyrics aren't the best, but some of the guitar parts on there are incredibly fun to listen to, just like the rest of Damnation.
My copy of Still Life finally came, and now I have every single Opeth album, and their DVD. Go me! :chug: |
the spaced out guitars in DWAL sell it for me. i listened to it the first time before drifting off to sleep, and i was all "whooooooaaaa!!"
made my fascination with echoey and spacey effects what it is today! |

Whenever Mikael whispers (like in In the Mist She Was Standing) it's loaded with crazy echoes so it's even hard to understand at times. It's still pretty cool though. ...and the song "Weakness" is loaded with weird noises. |
