 A fairly good summary of the average post there.
I know I'm gonna catch flak for this, but I consider it entirely average...
Don't worry, I used to feel the same way. I just love it for it's sheer rage and agression. I can understand why people always want to hear it live.

The part where Mikael actually screams "Demon! Demon of the Fall!" is the best part of the song and I think it's the coolest part on the album.

Deth 05-02-2006 08:04 PM

I absolutely love the way Martin uses the snare drum on MAYH. The intro of When and Karma and the chorus of Demon come to mind. I don't really know how to describe it but it rules.

I think most Opeth fans would agree with you on that.

Kage 05-02-2006 08:43 PM

I never hear any songs from MAYH getting discussed except Demon of the Fall, When and April Ethereal. And Karma gets an occaisonal mention, I suppose.

DotF was my first Opeth song, I was blown away, but have since become less than enthralled with it.

Darkness 05-02-2006 08:44 PM

The Amen Corner deserves praise. I love that song. That intro is so sick.

They did play that at the show I went too.

Honestly I don't think MAYH is that great of an album. Along with Orchid, it is probably my least favorite. April Ethereal does rule though.

Yeah same. That definatly helped my love for it grow.

You mean the real intro or the requiem outro?

EDIT: well damn, I dont think anyone would say that the requiem outro is sick:lol:

Darkness 05-02-2006 10:04 PM
You mean the real intro or the requiem one?
What? This is My Arms, Your Hearse dude. Not Orchid. The intro is Madigral. That rules, but so does the actual songs intro.

Crysiss 05-02-2006 10:05 PM

My bad, If been losing it lately. I was thinking of the Apostle In Triumph:upset:

I was waiting for one of your ninja edits to take place... I still had the original quote, so there was no excaping.

Crysiss 05-02-2006 10:08 PM

Hey im not ashamed lol.

I just have those days where I over think. But damn, your mean.

Escaping... no ninja edit here either

Dude, how could let this thread go to page 3:upset:

Least favorite 'peth song anyone?

Mine is Harlequin Forest. The intro is weak and Mikaels singing is boring. IMO

Stoo 05-04-2006 12:27 PM

I have never thought of my least favourite.

JamJar 05-04-2006 01:18 PM

My least favourite would go to The Funeral Portrait. It bores me to death.

BurningSky 05-04-2006 01:22 PM

I just listened to In The Frost of Winter for the first time...

That song is just plain terrible. All album-worthy Opeth is amazingly awesome after listening to that (even the weaker tracks)...

Crysiss 05-04-2006 04:11 PM

Well, it is a rehearsal track from before they even recorded Orchid. They were amateur of course.

So C'mon stoo, tell us yours.

Stoo 05-04-2006 04:15 PM

I really don't know.

I actually listened to The Funeral Portrait the other day and it's really good!

Hmm... Dirge for November...

Crysiss 05-04-2006 04:18 PM

Dirge For November is my favorite song:D

Its cool that one opeth fan wont like one song and another will love it.

I like the funeral portrait as well.

Jude 05-04-2006 04:22 PM

Least favorite Opeth song is hard to say. I always thought Credence was kind of weak. And I've never really liked Hours of Wealth.

Crysiss 05-04-2006 04:23 PM

123 on Hours Of Wealth.

I love the outro to Credence though.

Stoo 05-04-2006 04:48 PM

Don't like the intro riff in Godhead's Lament, puts me off.

Stormrider 05-04-2006 04:59 PM

The clean singing part should make for it though :p

I don't mind the intro...

Shattered_Future 05-04-2006 05:08 PM

Love Godhead's Lament. Favorite song off of SL.

Darkness 05-04-2006 06:55 PM
But damn, your mean.
Naaaaaah. :p

I don't really have a least favorite Opeth song, theres none that I HAVE to skip when I put an album on, which is rare right now...

Toaster 05-04-2006 07:03 PM

I freaking love Hours of Wealth. Come on, the singing is great!!

Death Whispered a Lullaby is probably my least favourite Opeth song, but like Dunkelheit said, there's really nothing I would skip.
