/is still one rep away from stars, hint ;)

You must spread some more reputation around before giving it to Creedence Clearwater again.
That's all I can do for you for now.

Creedence Clearwater 12-29-2004 07:23 PM
hey look its Creedence! i've been waiting for you to come around so i could rep you.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) have Chronicles? i've been wanting to discuss it with someone.
I am actually waiting for my mum to return home with the car so I can go buy it with money from christmas, then I will read it tonight.

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 07:25 PM

someone rep Creedence, i've been waiting to rep you, but you hadn't came on in a while it appeared. He deserves it.

haha ya i've accidently flipped the record over twice. Or sometimes i forget to drop the needle again.

Creedence Clearwater 12-29-2004 07:27 PM
what does modern mean?

i like Coldplay, and if Maroon 5 come on the radio i wont change it, but i really don't hear a lot of newer stuff. i'm kind of cut off from the modern world.

What are some good songs by Robert Johnson? Dylan went on and on about him in his book, so i'm very curious. I've heard a few songs here and there, but i dont recall any of them really.
Robert Johnson? my second fav guitarist:

You now the story of the crossroads right? as for songs, I like Kindhearted Women, Terraplane Blues and Little Queen of Spades.

;) Yah, 1019 rep pionts, now what?

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 07:27 PM

it took me a couple days to read it. Christmas and other family stuff kept getting in the way!

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 07:28 PM
Robert Johnson? my second fav guitarist:

oh i've heard the story alright. But what is the significance of the actual crossroads? like if the devil came to his house, the story still would have been famous. i often wonder that.

and i will keep those songs in mind, thanks! :thumb:

edit- and now i neg rep you!! HAHAHA, just kidding. ;) im sure those stars will show up eventually.

Woodstock 12-29-2004 07:31 PM

Yea, I like a lot of jam bands, Widepread Panic, moe., Gov't Mule, Les Claypool and all of his side projects, and many others.

I like Dragonforce and some Blind Guardian too, even some CoB if I try not to focus on the vocals.

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 08:16 PM

i wasnt trying to be mean, i just noticed you have made over a hundred posts, yet i havent seen you in this thread before. what could have possibly been wasting your time on, when you could have been discussing Classic Rock with us?

edit- and look up to my previous post. was i right about your name? or is it non cream related?

Rasta Rocker 12-29-2004 08:17 PM

David Grisman is a mad mandolinist.

tr00f
Yeah, the stuff he did on American beauty is really great. That's the only mandolining i;ve heard of him other than like 1 garcia and grisman song.

Ulysses 12-29-2004 08:19 PM

Yes, this is a great thread, i was living in limbo land floating aimlessly when i grasped hold of this thread, i like the content, the people who post here and their musical knowledge.

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 08:24 PM

so whos your favourite band Ulysses?

and Badmoon, i noticed D'addario was trying to sell their mandolin strings by putting David Grismans name on the front. in our filing cabinet full of strings at work, there was a pack that said "david grisman uses these strings". i've never heard anything by grisman, but he must be **** good.

magicbus 12-29-2004 09:20 PM

My neighbor's name is Jim Morrison

But seriously, Creedance glad you like my title, good to see you have stars cause I still need to spread it before repping you.

As for modern bands, I really like Robert Randolph and The Family Band (saw Badmoon's comment about jam bands). He does a few songs on the Crossroads dvd and he's really awesome.

Also Tales of Brave Ulysses is a great song.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2004 09:21 PM

How come Creedence only has 3 stars?

thickasabrick, have you read the Jim Morrison biography by Stephen Davis?

jpj 12-29-2004 09:22 PM

Yea I love what I've heard from Robert Randolph. Medeski Martin & Wood, Keller Williams, and Jack Johnson are some other guys I'm really starting to like.

Badmoon 12-29-2004 09:22 PM
He's the god of acid rock
pfftt, do I actually have to tell you who's #1? :p

Rasta Rocker 12-29-2004 09:24 PM

This is a good thread, there aren't and modern rock fan boys in here knockin' us for liking old music

DeusExMachina 12-29-2004 09:25 PM

I guess I haven't heard enough stuff by The Doors, but I never found them that psychedelic. I need to hear more of their stuff, I guess. Morrison is definitely a genius, though. Love his lyrics.

Edit: In response to Rock Not Roll saying that Jim Morrison is the king of acid rock.

thickasabrick 12-29-2004 09:27 PM
How come Creedence only has 3 stars?

hahaha dont waste my time. i've read it four times. and did a report on it for school.

and badmoon is trying to imply something about Jerry Garcia if i'm correct. I think Jerry and Jim were at opposite ends of the acid spectrum.

Badmoon's always trying to figure out ways to bring Garcia into the conversation.
