I think my precious AA crash has started its retirement process :(

I was putting my drums back up after my gig last night, and I noticed on it what looked like a crack at first, except its not a crack. Its like a very small hole that's been chipped out, yet its only going halfway through the cymbal.

Thats sucks froggy. If there is a tiny chip in it somewhere its probably not long before it'll start cracking from that point. How old is the crash?

its not that old. I've had it almost 3 and a half years.

Its random, like in the middle of the bow. I don't know how a cymbal could break apart like that.

Possibly just a weak spot in the cymbal. I guess you'll never know.

If it is just a tiny chip on the surface you could try drilling a small hole directly where the chip is. That might prolong the life a bit more (more so than drilling a cracked cymbal).
