nisakss 10-06-2004 09:40 AM

Good morning everyone, what's up?

Fox0r 10-06-2004 09:40 AM

lol, good point. a few of my friends play Warhammer40000 and they say **** to me like "check out my new (insert cool-sounding name here)!!"
I look at the little usually plastic though sometimes (but rarely) pewter statue and I say "Cool, what's it do?"
They start to say stuff like "Its ion hand-cannon can do piercing uber splash damage to an area with the diameter of 6 inches and it can move 24 inches per turn and..."
Then I interrupt them and ask how much it cost and they say "$30 (USD)"
- THIRTY DOLLARS?!? -
I again look at the 1 or 2 inch tall unpainted plastic model of a little man with a gun and I say "Thirty dollars?"
They nod their head, smiling at me because they got their cool new guy.

I'm really glad they're happy and all, but I wish they hadn't spent so much of their money on it. I think they should just go buy a pack of army men from the 99 cent store and paint them however they want and pretend they are leet warmhammer units.

Yeah, its all about personal tastes I guess and how well of a paint job you do. Like me, I take time to make my models look go, so it becomes more of a show case for me, since I rarely find anyone to play. Also, since I paint them so well I could probably get more then they are worth.

...but then I realise I could have my bass and head paid for if I hadn't gotten into warhammer to begin with :upset:

.....anyone want a necron army? :naughty:

gaslight 10-06-2004 09:45 AM

^ Hehe exactly hey. I understand where they are coming from though, I was just like that, it appeals to your imagination, and personally I love sci-fi, fantasy, and especially RPG's so it's just like... this miniature, contains my alternate soul :amaze:.

gaslight 10-06-2004 09:46 AM
hello everyone! i just got back from a battle of bands at a small pub in the city. we came first, which was fantastic. im pumped up now, but im going to bed, uni tomorrow :thumb:

Congrats :thumb:.

Originals?

Fox0r 10-06-2004 09:51 AM

Yeah, I hear what you guys are saying, but that's a LOT of money. I was thinking about doing it. I wanted the army with the super fast little alien dudes (cause they reminded me of Zerg from Starcraft) but I didn't (and still don't) have enough money.

I was thinking about it, and I might actually head to the 99 cent store today and pick up a pack of army men and give them super cool paint jobs. :) so next time my friends play, I can whip out an army and say, bring it on! :)

gaslight 10-06-2004 09:54 AM

^ Say they're super limited edition ones that you won from a White Dwarf contest.

Tyranids, yeah they are a fun army, I have one of them :thumb: Have them painted with a bluish/black on the body and black/grey on the carapace color scheme. They are wicked. I'd be willing to sell my army for a few 100 :naughty:

ShelBel 10-06-2004 09:57 AM

I just went and had to tell some punk to turn down the music he was playing on one of the computers.

"Could you turn that down please?"

"Maybe."

*smacks punk@$$ kid* (I WISH!!!!!!!)

People are trying to WORK. If you want to listen to music, I have headphones.

Brat.

gaslight 10-06-2004 09:58 AM

I wonder where all my old figures are.

I had this awesome one that came free with White Dwarf one time, it was for Mordheim, it was an elf with a big sword. I think he was called Aenar, The Sword Of Twilight, or something like that. Belongs in a bloody prog metal album with a name like that.

I love how punks say "maybe" like it's a really cool word.

"Wow man, I just found $100!"
"Ha, yeah... maybe ."

"Oh wtf, you little tool, you crashed into my car!"
"Ha, yeah... maybe ."

Etc.

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:01 AM

Do I have to use special paint?

I hear ya, Gaslight.

I need to work on converting my demon prince for chaos. I'm giving him a servo-arm using a sentinel leg and the claw from the big ork warboss. Should be cool :naughty:

ShelBel 10-06-2004 10:01 AM

I think it was Green Day, too. *sigh* Not that I wouldn't LIKE to listen to it, but c'mon- there's like 90 computers in here, and it's PACKED today. If you're going to screw off, go in the back row or something! (That's where all the pr0n surfers go... )

Espbassor 10-06-2004 10:04 AM

*goes to the back row*

Fuck we're cool.

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:05 AM

What the hell is the point of looking at porn on a public computer anyway?

Espbassor 10-06-2004 10:06 AM

^Cause I'm a sad lonely guy....

....and by "I", I of course mean they...

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:06 AM

Shel are you at work?

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:08 AM
^Cause I'm a sad lonely guy....

Yeah, but it's a public computer? THE ONLY EXCUSE would be if they didn't have a computer at home (with an internet connection) and they were trying to get ideas of things to think about when they took a shower that night. But that's a really weak excuse.

*shrugs* I'm not justifying it, I don't do it. :p

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:11 AM

I'm just trying to understand it. :)
Shel, tell that kid about the back row and what it's good for and really try to convince him to go. It'll be great. :)

ShelBel 10-06-2004 10:13 AM

I don't get it either. Technically, it's against MnSCU policy, and we have to report them. But trying to catch them doing it... and have PROOF... is a pain.

Best we can do is give them a three strikes policy- and re-image the computers on a regular basis. :D

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:13 AM

So do I need special paint to paint my army of doom?

Espbassor 10-06-2004 10:21 AM

^Any acrylic paint will do, but I stick with the citadel paints because of the naming convention, I can easily figure out what paints I need. Warhammer has a boxed set of some models, paints, and paint brushes as a starter set and it's really convienant Also, if you know nothing about painting mini's, I'd suggest picking up an army codex by warhammer, as they explain painting techniques to quickly make mini's look good, such as dry brushing and inking.

and remember, good models take some time to do. You're not going to have an army done soon unless you give them basic color schemes :thumb: If you want I can describe the process I use to make my chaos iron warriors look good.

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:24 AM

Yeah, if you wouldn't mind typing it out, I'd love to hear.

Gaslight, what happened to that little spaceship avatar you had? I liked that. :) I actually changed mine because you changed yours.

gaslight 10-06-2004 10:28 AM

A spaceship hey?

Umm, the blue one with "It's a wonderful world?"

Fox0r 10-06-2004 10:31 AM

Yeah. It had a little red rocket that would go down every 5-10 seconds.

gaslight 10-06-2004 10:35 AM

Hehe oh yeah that one :).

I pretty much made an animation out of an Explodingdog picture.

I kinda rotate my avatars on a whim.

BassiclyLow 10-06-2004 10:38 AM

I never played warhammer i played MageKnight (it's similiar)
