Moses 05-18-2006 09:29 PM

Right now I only really know the main theme of Kissing the Shadows but I can put up a solo that I recorded when I was bored at school.

This is the only song I have recorded for my solo project so everything you hear is me (except programmed drums). It actually doesn't have that much key playing but it's got some.

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 09:31 PM

Yeah sure.

Moses 05-18-2006 09:38 PM

Okay. Up.

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 09:59 PM

Haha that run from 0:22-0:30 was pretty crazy!!

It's really good recording too so you can hear everything.

Really cool dude, it'd be awesome to hear you do like the Living Dead Beat solo on keys.

Moses 05-18-2006 11:17 PM

Thanks by the way.

Does anyone wanna Kiss the Shadows?(punzor)

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 11:42 PM

I would if I could play the solos.

The first one was great.
/respect

The metal thing, I wasn't impressed by. I wasn't digging it.

How many years have you played piano for?

repcak 05-19-2006 02:29 AM
I've heard good things about that book, but imo, half of the accuracy/skill increase isn't jsut the exercise, it's the WAY you practise that exercise. I mean it is pretty point less to have 235 sweep picking exercises because they ALL involve the sweeping motion, the only difference is where you put your fretting fingers, and if you need to concentrate on that, then the focus on the flow of the right hand will diminish. If you need all the basic shaps to practise, let me know. Since Swamphell is has a 4 string, you should practise 3 and 4. 5 *might* be a bit too much, 6 will be.

Kurupt and I both have the same thoughts about speed/accuracy. Except he's probably more strict, I sometimes just go "ahh bugger it, I can't play it that well at this speed but I'm going to increase anyway". Not good!

I'd say if you started practising sweep motion, you'll have this down by September.

How long have you been playing?
yes, meanwhile (through the discussions with you and Kurrpt) i know that the WAY how to practise it, is more important ... thats what troy stetina says too.

if you will send me some sweeping exercise, that would be great :D repcak@gmx.at

i started playing acoustic guitar exactly 3years ago (because of a girl :p ), but i have played maybe once a week for some hours. after one year, so two years ago, i got my ibanez and started to play every day for some time. i always had long breaks, f.e.: last year when i haven't touched the guitar for several months. i took it (once again) serious this december, january and try to practise every day... so i play maybe for 2-3years now, but when you consider all my breaks, not more than 1 1/2 :/

I'm Charming 05-19-2006 02:33 AM

hahha. I started playing guitar because of Metallica. Then realized rather quickly what crap they were.

@ Repcak- You should join my forum, What's your AIM or MSN? Ghosts are always welcome.. : )

repcak 05-19-2006 02:37 AM

i don't have AIM neither MSN but i have ICQ and Skype; i think i won't have time for another forum, cause i'm alread "active" in four! though MX is the most important one.

Knocking on Heavens door by Bob Dylan and Seek and Destroy were my first two songs :D

i remember how proud i was in autumn 2004 (1 1/2 year ago) because i was able to play "am i evil" by metallica (well, i thought i can play it ... though it was sloppy). until this year i didn't really know what "practise" is. i always just played.

Yeah. I've gotta learn the rest of Bodom Beach Terror. Just a tad to go. I get that same recording nervious feeling you do.

I figured out a way so I hear what I'm playing while recording. That's very helpful.

btw. I don't have multiple personalies or something. This accounts password was saved/auto log on and I'm laying in bed. aka. No lazy to log on as I'm Charming on my laptop

First 3 are major, last 3 are minor. They're all in C maj/min so you can compare:
1&4, 2&5, 3&6 - making major into minor

or

1,2,3 & 4,5,6 because 123 = all Cmaj and 456 all Cmin.

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=8E7F1AC035DC4158

Obviously first set is 3 string, then 4, then 5.

Battle Against Time 05-19-2006 03:43 AM
Am I Evil is by Diamond Head.
I know and I assume he knows.

Metallica covered it and it's known as a Metallica song.

Squirrel 05-19-2006 03:57 AM

It's known as a Diamond Head song, unless youre a complete moron.

Squirrel 05-19-2006 04:26 AM

same

should be revising

but im not :(

Apocalyptic Raids 05-19-2006 04:35 AM

heh, I kinda need to learn a song, but I can't be bothered.

Listening to Vio-lence is more fun

Squirrel 05-19-2006 04:54 AM

I'm listening to Origin.

thanks... but i don't have Powertab... i use only Guitarpro 4

encmetalhead 05-19-2006 05:41 AM

if my band can get its act together(that means me playing good) then we will do a cover of a song by COB but it'll have to be from new album cause that album is awesome

Squirrel 05-19-2006 05:56 AM

then the second part of my statement applies to you

Download it, it's free.

Are You Dead Yet is very, very far from awesome.

blue3 05-19-2006 09:03 AM

But it's still good.

Sleepy 05-19-2006 09:42 AM
But it's still good.
IMO, it's not even that.

I'd personally rate it as extremely subpar. Laiho was just trying WAY too hard to be badass. It has a few good tracks, though.

12 years. Started when I was 5 and I'm 17 now. The metal thing isn't really a good representation of what we sound like though.

AA-12 05-19-2006 02:37 PM

I've been playing piano for around a year I guess. It's so expansive and complex; I love it.

MRDuCran 05-19-2006 02:59 PM
But it's still good.
Agreed.

kurrpt 05-19-2006 03:04 PM

i was actually thinking about getting a keyboard just for writing

MRDuCran 05-19-2006 03:50 PM

I'm listening to Tokyo Warhearts, it really is incredible.
Alexi's playing is soo clean, he's gotten worse over the years.
I mean he pulls off Silent Night, Bodom Night fukkin' perfectly and it's faster than the original. Every solo is perfect infact.

In love with his tone too.

Shadows 05-19-2006 04:18 PM

He's gotten worse over the years?

MRDuCran 05-19-2006 04:36 PM

Well judging by his live playing then yes. Some of the stuff he does now is horrible. His Zakk Wydle improvisation type stuff blows compared to the neo-classical era they were in during Hatebreeder to Follow the Reaper.

I mean Hate Me solo is awesome but he never plays it the same anymore, I noticed he grabs the bar alot and just dives harmonics if he runs out of ideas or messes up.

I would much rather see them in their Tokyo Warhearts days.

Shadows 05-19-2006 04:38 PM

I can't say I agree with that at all. He was a little sloppy back then but now he's very clean.

BlackFire_ 05-19-2006 04:41 PM

Alexi Laiho is an amazing guitarist, but I disagree that he got worse, if anything, he has become better and cleaner, IMO

AA-12 05-19-2006 04:47 PM

I agree with DuCran. They've ran out of ideas IMO :-\

Shadows 05-19-2006 04:52 PM

That doesn't make any sense. Unless you're saying AYDY sounded exactly like their last albums.

BlackFire_ 05-19-2006 04:56 PM
That doesn't make any sense. Unless you're saying AYDY sounded exactly like their last albums.
True. AYDY sounded nothing like their early albums, they changed their style a lot, but I prefer their old stuff over their new stuff.
