Deftones are awesome.

asymm 09-06-2006 05:55 PM

Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade
Wilderness - Vessel States
Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain

metalicajaymz 09-06-2006 08:29 PM
i dont like the deftones, they overused that "holding notes for a long time" form of nu-metal that linkin park loves to beat to death now.

they will hang with Korn for the war crime of starting nu-metal when the revolution comes

also, i guarantee those songs he listed aren't even the best by deftones standards.
this post is veto'd

download White Pony immediately. It's almost a post-punk/heavy shoegazer album. "Feitceira" and "RX Queen" are excellent.

YDload 09-06-2006 08:41 PM

sorry but i dont think its possible to get into Deftones once you graduate high school. i filled my plate up with Korn and SOAD instead and i regret it now :(

el doctor 09-06-2006 08:42 PM

Deftones...

/remembers fattymattk's recording of him yelling "My name is Chino!" into a mic

Built to Spill - You In Reverse

It has its ups and its downs. I'm still more of a fan of their indie pop stuff (There's Nothing Wrong With Love = <3). That said, "Conventional Wisdom" is one awesome song.

YDload my man you are so misguided right now

Deftones do not = nu-metal, despite any pigeonholing you might see

Zebra 09-06-2006 08:47 PM

Faith No More
Sonic Youth
YDload my man you are so misguided right now

But it's still typical high school music (like korn and SOAD), and thats what i was tryin to say.

ATM 09-06-2006 09:35 PM

White Pony is so good, though!

metalicajaymz 09-06-2006 09:44 PM
But it's still typical high school music (like korn and SOAD), and thats what i was tryin to say.
so? I'm not in college but I listen to 'college-rock'. I'm not brain damaged but I listen to Wesley Willis. I'm not black but I listen to Gang Starr. The list goes on!
White Pony is so good, though!
this guy knows the score.

Little Man being Erased 09-06-2006 09:57 PM

I could probably do it. If everyone agrees to put their lists in that list format thing and in the format Artist - Album and with 1 at the top.

M. Ward and Pharoah Sanders. The M. Ward is for walking around, Pharoah for driving. Other stuff, but none so important.

Zmev 09-07-2006 12:32 AM

M. Ward and Mike Watt are playing a show around here soon.

Odd lineup?

bleep_bloop 09-07-2006 12:51 AM

Did anyone see the austin city limits with bright eyes playing with m ward and the the singer from my morning jacket? their version of golden was incredible.

Kyle 09-07-2006 05:07 AM

Gorillaz - Demon Days

So it turns out this album is actually very good.

Edit: I never even knew MF Doom was on one of the tracks, wow.

ATM 09-07-2006 07:33 AM

The Vindictives - The Many Moods of the Vindictives

Happymeal 09-07-2006 12:32 PM

Interpol
Weakerthans
Metric (sort of)

Weakerthans and Metric are playing for my friends' school's frosh week tomorrow, I'm jealous. Wintersleep (and Metric as ell) will be playing at my school next week but I'm not really a big fan of both. On the other hand the show's free so eh why not.

Luxor 09-07-2006 01:08 PM

That's at U of T right? Why are you jealous, I go to Sheridan and I'm going. haha

Happymeal 09-07-2006 01:40 PM

..it's not exclusive to U of T students?

*strokes beard*

Kyle 09-07-2006 01:42 PM

Radiohead - Hail To The Thief
Swamburger and Descry - A Change is Coming

I'm not sure. My friends seem to think it's open to everyone. I heard it's outside in a field. I'll have to look further into this. :amaze:
