Which ADIBAW album? The new one was kind of disappointing.

Anxious 09-04-2006 11:35 PM
You get depressed to Deerhoof?
The Man, The King, The Girl and Holdypaws are. To me.
Which ADIBAW album? The new one was kind of disappointing.
My Heros Have Laways Killed Cowboys. Their new one sucks balls.

pixiesfanyo 09-05-2006 12:35 AM

The new ADIBAW isn't that bad.

Just isn't that good either.

Luxor 09-05-2006 12:28 PM

Just different. It's a completely different style of music than All My Heros.

"Pretty girl keep growin' up, playin' make-up, wearin' guitar"

Propagandhi: I haven't listened to them in ages and they're touring the UK soon.

The Zombies - Odessey & Oracle

Damn. I must have heard "Time of the Season" a hundred times before, but I never realised it was by The Zombies. I'm an idiot. Great album though.

el doctor 09-05-2006 03:54 PM

Joanna Newsom - Ys

Oh god this is great, although not totally unexpected as The Milk-Eyed Mender had hints of that fairytale-like sound.

eels - Electro-Shock Blues

I saw these guys the other week at Sunset Junction. I should've done my research beforehand though because I didn't even recognize them at first. I figured it would be E sitting at a keyboard all night, something like their soft and fragile Eels with Strings show, but out comes bassist Krazy Al in a security shirt, no bass in hand, and looking ready to kick some ass (he would later do some karate, yoga, let out some one liners, and spray whipped cream on people). The rest of the band follows looking like they're members of Fidel Castro's posse. Turns out the band took the abrasive punk route on this tour. So while it was completely different than I expected, it turned out to be a fun, loud, and truly great show.

Plan 9 - Dealing With the Dead

Some solid 80's garage rock.
The Sonics - Here are the Sonics
That's some quality stuff right there.

sketchyjoe 09-05-2006 07:21 PM

The Zatopeks - Ain't Nobody Left But Us

Amazing pop-punk with folk and rock and roll influences.

Happymeal 09-05-2006 08:21 PM

Broken Social Scene - Beehives

I skipped most of the ambient parts (which is like half the album) but the version of "Lover's Spit" with Feist instead of the guy is just too pretty.

I have been digging everything by Kelly Joe Phelps. It's been a while since I've discovered new blues that made this big an impression on me.

Dr. Dog - Takers and Leavers

SailAway 09-06-2006 06:54 AM

Anything Pixies or Pavement. I just finished reading the book about the pixies, which gave a detailed and very interesting history of the band through interviewing the band, or people closely related to them.

Bigga 09-06-2006 08:04 AM

Theres alot of songs i like from these guys so i'll just name one or two for each:
system of a down-lonely day,byob
slipknot-duality, the nameless
deftones-bored, minerva
red hot chili peppers-under the bridge, dani california

sketchyjoe 09-06-2006 08:42 AM

I think we've just found the most indie poster in the forum.

In addition to more Zatopeks:
Spoonboy - Acoustic songs from the Max Levine Ensemble frontman.
Operation Ivy

pixiesfanyo 09-06-2006 12:29 PM

Versoma - Life During Wartime

Probably my favorite emo record, I've heard all year.

Luxor 09-06-2006 12:46 PM

Haven't heard that. You on AIM sucka?

Zappa 09-06-2006 01:55 PM

I haven't been listening to much music, since I don't have a computer. Whenever I do, though, I just like orgasm forever. Examples include Neu!, Pavement, Slint, and Spit for Athena.

pixiesfanyo 09-06-2006 01:59 PM

^ ha. PAVEMENT.

I TOTALLY GO TYOU TINTOP THEM!

blah balh blah.

They're in that vein of post-hardcore that could double as emo.

i dont like the deftones, they overused that "holding notes for a long time" form of nu-metal that linkin park loves to beat to death now.

they will hang with Korn for the war crime of starting nu-metal when the revolution comes

also, i guarantee those songs he listed aren't even the best by deftones standards.

Matt? 09-06-2006 04:56 PM

this will be a nu-metal forum in about five years

Deftones are so much better than Korn. Sure some songs are very grating (bored) but others like Passenger and Knife Party are great in every sense of the word.
