Well what 5 songs do you find yourself listening to the most? |
I watched Lamentations again last night, I noticed that the 'heavier album', Deliverance, is only half heavy ;(.
Also, their isn't Demon of the Fall on Lamentations, upsets me greatly. |
Wtf does half heavy mean?
And it was only songs from Blackwater Park onwards they were playing. |
Wtf does half heavy mean?
And it was only songs from Blackwater Park onwards they were playing.
Probably that Deliverance songs still had some moments of clean vocals and guitars. |
Yes, like Master's Apprentice, it goes into this crazy death like intro, then half way into the song, it cuts off and goes to clean guitar and vocals. It disappoints me.
And Opeth usually ends with Demon of the Fall, which is why im surprised it wasnt on the dvd. |

Dude thats how Opeth is.... |
Well then they should have said, "Tonight were gonna do two sets, one that is softer, and later, one that is SLIGHTLY HEAVIER IN THE FACT THAT WE USE DISTORTION AND GROWL ON THE INTRO'S BUT NOTHING ELSE"
|
How long have you been into Opeth?
That's why Opeth are one of the best bands in the world today man. they don't have many songs without clean vocals and soft parts. |
Well two years, I know that is expected but I don't know. Im tired of listening to heavy stuff for 2 minutes, then forced to listen to the lighter progressive stuff for another 7.
|
Listen to something else?
|
Yea, I have been..too much hxc :(
|
I see...
NP - An Awesome Opeth song with beautiful clean vocals and acoustic playing. :p |

You need to get your proportions right before you can start to complain. |
Sometimes I get sick of the soft stuff. I never said I couldn't stand it. I love Damnation. Death Whispered a Lullaby, In My Time of Need...its all good stuff.
|
being able to go from a whirldwind of heavy riffs to these clean sections are what make Opeth the amazing talents that they are.
|
maybe my tastes are just going heavier..again..
|
i dont know, my taste in music right now is fixed on Lamb of God, but i still LOVE opeth for their talent.... whatever
|
Top 5 for now..
1. The Funeral Portrait 2. Blackwater Park 3. Serenity Painted Death 4. By The Pain I See In Others 5. Moonlapse Vertigo heh, I am such a Blackwater Park/Still Life slut. For bands I would have to say.. 1. Tool 2. The Smashing Pumpkins 3. Mastodon 4. Jeff Buckley 5. Mr. Bungle I think the best thing about Opeth is their juxtaposition of clean/heavy parts. It adds a lot more mood(s) and gives a much broader variety of soundscapes to their songs with them being able to add different sonic elements.. not to mention the expanse and opportunity of songwriting capabilities they get from being very open to dynamics. |

Also, their isn't Demon of the Fall on Lamentations, upsets me greatly.
They didn't have rights to any of their old stuff at the time of the concert, so they could just play stuff from BWP, Deliverance and Damnation. In fact they did play Demon of the Fall as an encore, but it's not on the DVD. |

er... I can't think of one Opeth song that's anything like what you just described. Most of their songs are fairly balanced between heavy and soft, many of their songs even have more heavier parts than soft parts as well. Very few songs are noticably way more soft than heavy unless they're actually completely clean songs. |
