No. Your best bet is look into their main influences. Spastic Ink, Blotted Science, Into Eternity and (ugh) Lamb of God (ugh ugh) on the metal side, then look into some musicals, particularly like Les Miserables, and then throw in some Muse for fun and make a nice little compilation.

NemesisDivina 03-04-2008 09:11 PM

Tyler what happened to liking LoG?

Weren't you all like. For some reason I want to listen to Lamb of God right now.

Tyler 03-04-2008 09:13 PM

I never liked them, I just had the urge to listen to an idealized version of what they play.
yeah i'll put it on the other forum

No.

Next question
Thanks man.

FreeSmells 03-04-2008 09:34 PM
Cocaine, you do pretty much throw a skitz whenever anyone says anything even remotely un-positive about PTH.
negative?

Benzilla 03-04-2008 10:06 PM

I agree with what Cocaine said several pages back, the instrumental tracks are weird because you keep on waiting for the vocals to come in. They're great because you can really hear the guitar parts clearly. Luke's amazing sweep picking is really easy to hear, it usually gets lost between Tim's heavier rhythm based parts and the vocals.

It also highlights (again, as people have already said) Rody's ability to write a melody. I'm listening to the part where he would be belting "Flidais rides again" right now and without the vocals its a rather bland downward (possibly chromatic, I don't know what Eb sounds like) scale.

DJTeeLay 03-04-2008 11:25 PM

I like how halfway through the last song in PTH's set, Rody just goes "PEACE!" and walks off the stage and lets the instrumentalists do their thing.

It was insane.

kattunlover69 03-04-2008 11:36 PM

lol yes I think he does that for bound

FreeSmells 03-04-2008 11:37 PM
negative?
no, because he throws a skitz if you don't pour unabashed praise on every facet of pth

even if you're neutral, you're gonna get it in the neck
Curious, but what went over your head?
About the lyrics... I just don't understand how it all fits together. The album is kinda all over the place.

I haven't heard the instrumental version either, so I'd be grateful if someone pointed me in the right direction. (james46n2@gmail)

Also, for those who haven't seen Protest live and don't know about Rody's, uh, banter. Here's something recent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B98WcQR0cOw

beans 03-05-2008 11:45 AM

the instrumental version is nice to hear, it really gives what rody does some perspective

Tyler 03-05-2008 01:13 PM
About the lyrics... I just don't understand how it all fits together. The album is kinda all over the place.
It all ties together loosely, in that it's a giant blend of history and mythology based fiction along with ideas about faith, worship and the likes thrown in between. It's not a huge linking concept but rather a cohesive album with relative ideas strung throughout.
no, because he throws a skitz if you don't pour unabashed praise on every facet of pth

No. I berate morons, not those with valid opinions. Next question.

Yeah you just said 'un-positive'.
I just figured 'negative' would have been an easier way to convey.

Benzilla 03-06-2008 05:15 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Rody's solo stuff recently, all three songs on his purevolume page. It's pretty catchy but it feels a bit weird if I'm singing the songs as I'm walking down the street or something because:

A. I don't smoke
B. I don't know Chris Wynne or how hilarious he may or may not be.

Tyler 03-06-2008 05:31 PM

His older songs were funnier imo.

Josh D. 03-06-2008 05:45 PM

"Bro, you're lying, but we're still friends".

Benzilla 03-06-2008 06:11 PM

I remember that one, it involved Chris Wynne and Rody's health card or something.

Edit: Secret windows totally don't exist.

awia 03-10-2008 04:20 PM

rody reminds me of dave mustaine or axl rose...just the way he likes to start **** at times, yet he is almost never completely serious bout it

Tyler 03-10-2008 04:27 PM

what. Dave Mustaine is almost always totally serious. Rody's actually really intelligent, he's just got a sick sense of humour.

beans 03-10-2008 04:30 PM

yeah im not sure about the mustaine comparison, but he's pretty funny, last time i saw them live he commented about how he hated how many people were in the venue and right before they played the next song he said
'and i wish all of you would get out'

Benzilla 03-10-2008 07:01 PM

Yes. For proof read his blog post on the PTH myspace about Newfoundland and necrophilia.

Thats just odd. I don't get that sense of humor.

Pete 03-10-2008 07:21 PM

it's cool to be an arrogant obnoxious as-shole apparently
it's cool to be an arrogant obnoxious as-shole apparently
apparently. I just have to figure out what a as-shole is. I've used the word "as" before, but not sure about shole. :thumb:

Pete 03-10-2008 07:34 PM

its way too complex a concept for a simpleton like you to ever wrap your closed little mind around //_-
its way too complex a concept for a simpleton like you to ever wrap your closed little mind around //_-
lol I guess I'll never understand the true meaning of shole. It will be a mystery.

Pete 03-10-2008 07:37 PM

There was an update on here. They're going on tour with Chiodos, Fall of Troy, and a "special guest". Look on here, theres a banner on there for it.

beans 03-11-2008 02:29 PM
