Smelling? that's odd.

the2stranger 10-26-2006 11:10 AM

Smelling the booklet and the cd is so great.
I just love the 'new' smell.

Let me listen to Ahab now

AlienEater 10-26-2006 11:21 AM

Never!

the2stranger 10-26-2006 11:35 AM

I'm loving the Ahab.
np: Old Thunder.
It's really dark and heavy.
I love how they put the atmosphere of the story into the music.

pate 10-26-2006 11:49 AM

I'll have to check out Ahab.

Txus 10-26-2006 11:52 AM

I only have the Oath demo (Talking about Ahab) and it's great.

the2stranger 10-26-2006 12:02 PM
I'll have to check out Ahab.
Yes you have to, it's great stuff.

I think I shall doom up an issue of the DU soon.

Daven 10-26-2006 12:08 PM

So i was listening to Not A Gleam Of Hope yesterday, and i noticed its my favorite FD album.

Good buys Pete-

pate 10-26-2006 02:16 PM

I can't wait for the doomed-up issue.

Patrick O))) 10-26-2006 02:40 PM

OMG Desert Sessions ... :D:D:D:D

Not long now ...

Ohhhh, I haven't heard about this. I'll glady contribute if needed.

What plan? The DS are cool.

ATM 10-26-2006 05:43 PM

Been listening to Starchild and High On Fire. 2 awesome bands.

Nepenthe 10-26-2006 05:49 PM

I don't find High On Fire all that great, or at least not worthy of the hype they're given.

Txus 10-26-2006 05:49 PM

High On Fire are ace.

Shattered_Future 10-26-2006 06:02 PM

High On Fire are pretty cool, from what little I've heard of them (which pretty much consists of that one song they contributed to Tony Hawk's Underground).

Nepenthe 10-26-2006 06:05 PM

People are calling them the greatest thing to happen to Stoner Metal, which they are far from. They're actually pretty average for the genre, there's plenty that do it much better.

Shattered_Future 10-26-2006 06:06 PM

Greatest thing to happen to stoner metal, hardly. They're not terrible though.

Txus 10-26-2006 06:07 PM

I think they are good, not the best Stoner Metal band though. That's nonsense.

Patrick O))) 10-26-2006 07:06 PM
What plan? The DS are cool.
3&4 were on ebay, I've got all the others :(

I didn't win :upset: they went for 55 pounds, which is much cheaper than I've seen them go for, but still

I really really want the Earthlings? songs from it, particularly At the Helm of Hell's Ships

Kyuss win that, hands down.

Sleepy 10-26-2006 10:44 PM

High on Fire's a fun band. Nowhere near the best stoner band ever, but it's honestly great party music.

Kage 10-26-2006 11:16 PM

High on Fire are average at best.

pate 10-26-2006 11:49 PM

I've only heard Blessed Black Wings, but it's a good listen. Best thing ever, no, but not worst thing ever either.

AlienEater 10-27-2006 07:03 AM

I have them all, but I didn't realize they were worth that much. Wait, CD or vinyl? It's a shame you didn't
win, it's pretty good. Earthlings? rule.

Oh and HOF are cool. Their 1st is my favourite.

Patrick O))) 10-27-2006 02:25 PM

It was on cd. The worst thing really is that 3&4 seem to be the most sought after. The price it goes for on ebay has for some reason shot up lately, whereas the others are about thirty pounds

I also really want the Kyuss debut, but that goes for five hundred easy

Which Earthlings? would you recommend trying to get first? I got a couple off their myspace, Nothing being my favourite

In the end I didn't buy anything for myself today but I had loads of birthday presents to get so I got them.

AlienEater 10-27-2006 05:20 PM

Shit, I guess most Man's Ruin stuff goes for a lot as well.

Definitely get the first Earthlings? album (s/t) if you can, it's by far thier best. "Nothing" is on it too.

Patrick O))) 10-27-2006 05:24 PM

 sweet. I'll try and find it

Yeah, MR's fucking cool though. I want the hellcat logo thing as a tattoo

AlienEater 10-27-2006 05:55 PM

It's a pretty cool logo.

Phototropic 10-28-2006 06:05 AM

High on fire are in no way the best

They're hardly even stoner, more like thrash sludge, frickin awesome band, love em, but not the best

as Paddy said...Kyuss are :D

or Bomb the Sun

Txus 10-28-2006 12:49 PM

I listened to the Bomb The Sun album yesterday, freaking sweet.

Patrick O))) 10-28-2006 06:47 PM

Starchild kicks some serious ***. Somehow (I don't know how), they were one of the first stoner/doom bands I ever heard. Still liking them to this day. :thumb:

AlienEater 10-29-2006 09:42 AM
I listened to the Bomb The Sun album yesterday, freaking sweet.
Guess they're worth checking out, eh?

Txus 10-29-2006 10:38 AM

Yes, they are.

metal-militia 10-29-2006 11:20 AM

Saw Reverend Bizarre on Saturday in Camden, did anyone go?
Got in late and missed most of Sloth's set which was a shame as I really like thier album. Centurions Ghost were ok, haven't heard too much of thier stuff though. Gates of Slumber were fantastic as were Reverend Bizarre. I can't remember all the set but they played some of my favourties (Doomsower, In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend) and finished with Doom over the World. Superb! :chug:

Kyle 10-29-2006 11:33 AM

I moved to Wales, I miss all the shows now :upset:

Where was it? Underworld?

metal-militia 10-29-2006 11:41 AM

Yeah it was. Last UK date too.

Kyle 10-29-2006 11:47 AM

Argh, that's a great venue aswell :(

I see Josiah are playing at the Underworld tonight aswell, have you heard them? they're pretty good. They have an amazing local band called Jecano doing a support slot, everyone should check them out.

Josiah - http://www.myspace.com/josiahukrockers
Jecano - http://www.myspace.com/jecano

Jecano are my favorite local band, i've seen them quite a few times, and probably whored them in this thread once or twice. Anyway, listen to the song Hilltop Hanging if you get a minute.

metal-militia 10-29-2006 11:51 AM

Yeah Josiah are pretty good and I wouldn't have minded going. Church of Misery are playing on Tuesday which would have been great to see, and I think Sourvein are playing too.
