wow i totally forgot about this thread. i used to be a regular, lol. but uh how is it goin guys. im pretty excited for the new album, but its a big toss up because honestly i have no idea what to expect, i mean what could it possibly sound like now?

Frequently Tripping 09-11-2006 10:40 PM

it could sound awesome...and it will.

mutant! 09-12-2006 05:49 AM

You have a point there, enjoi. I really don't know what to expect at all. I mean, compare every Incubus album ever to each other; and then compare those to the random solo stuff Ben and Mike put up on their MySpaces all the time. Those guys are so eclectic... But I know it's going to be a kickass album. I've been off Incubus the past time... Let's see if Light Grenades changes that.

When's the release?

SailAway 09-12-2006 06:13 AM

November 28, I believe. I just hope they keep brancing out and don't fall into a commercial rock pit.

mutant! 09-12-2006 06:28 AM

zomw thats liek 6 days after i finish school 4evar&evar

good musicianship != being obscure and liked by 3 fans

SailAway 09-12-2006 07:01 AM

I just mean their earlier sound was very interesting, my personal favorite is morning view anyway which you can say is the most mainstream. I just want them to explore their old funk jazz roots more, like they started to again with crow.

mutant! 09-12-2006 07:45 AM

Ja, I hear you... But not so much straight funk as just elements of it. After all, word has it that Dirk was the funkhead in the band. And for them to do another Enjoy would be lame. So it'd be cool if they had more stuff like Priceless (ZOMFW INTERLUUUUDE) on there... But I like the straight-ahead rock styling of tunes like Megalomaniac. Meh.

this part reminds me of follow mixed with something else thats new to them. i think the vibe of this album is gonna be really good. it wont be a concept album but i think it will have that same atmosphere that the term "concept album" conjures

mutant! 09-12-2006 11:05 AM

Wow, that's so hot, but it's so unlike them! I really dig it tho. There's even a tinge of Radiohead somewhere in there...

SailAway 09-12-2006 11:10 AM

sounds pretty sweet :)

tjockey 09-12-2006 11:16 AM

Im excited for this, I love Incubus!!

Ive definitly always held a special place in my heart for incubus, although some of the choices they have made more recently as a band... i.e. line-up changes, larger concerts, corporate promoted concerts etc. etc.

they still are making music the way they want to, and it shows in their live performance and ifyou listen to their entire catalogue from early to later you definitly see the progression that they went on and how they still keep elements from when they started.

they just have that certain shade (of green).

mutant! 09-12-2006 11:26 AM

That will always be a bullsh!t argument. You cannot deduce anything from the fact that a band's music is sponsored or not. You cannot deduce anything from how "commercial" or "underground" a band is. All that matters is whether they make good music or not.

Incubus make some good fckin' music. ;)

Sup tjockey.

MrRhodes 09-12-2006 12:36 PM

A Kiss To Send Us Off sounds good :) I can't wait for this album!

enjoimx 09-12-2006 09:01 PM

yeah mainstream or not, i dont give a crap about that unless its that fact that changes the music. incubus is the reason morning view and aclotm sound the weay they do, not the fact that they get on tv and stuff

jason_f90 09-18-2006 04:25 AM

looking forward to light grenades.

new single
\
verse sounds like the police to me. it's cool.

SailAway 09-20-2006 11:24 PM

Sick song, I guess they are continuing onward in the same vein as crow.

Sound Boy 09-21-2006 05:24 AM

i expect to hear good things on this new album for 3 reasons
First and foremost..its INCUBUS!
Second. Brandon said "Mikes guitar on this album is just insane".
Third. They've had alot of time to make this album. with only having a couple weeks of downtime for recording Crow and Morning View. having a year to record this one is promising. expecially when Mike and Ben get their other styles out on their solo stuff (its great to get the "trash" out in solo projects and have the good stuff for the band albums..just look at Radiohead and RHCP)

rossini 09-21-2006 05:37 AM

could anyone upload it to yousendit? the other one's download limit has been reached :(

Chu 09-21-2006 07:01 AM

I've been listenning to Fungus a bit recently, especially Speak Free, The Answer and Hilikus, ****en awesome songs. Exactly how I want to write music really.

Sound Boy 10-01-2006 12:36 PM

just got ahold of "anna-molly". and rest assured incubus fans...its really good. its a radio single so if history has shown us anything in incubus' past the single will prolly be the least exciting track on the album

Lemuria 10-06-2006 10:13 PM

ATENTION INCUBUS FANS

I'm gonna go look out ACLOTM, I have Beware! Criminal in my head.

mutant! 10-25-2006 02:53 PM

ANNA MOLLY IS OARSUM

srs. It's exactly what I hoped for: Make Yourself-era Incubus, only with Mike's new Fender fetish and Ben's influence. Only much better. :D

This sounds nothing like Make Yourself. Absolutely nothing like it.

Chu 11-03-2006 09:59 PM

They've been playing the Anna Molly video a fair bit here recently.

All I can say is I want the whole album.

The singer sounds at his best imo (Maybe his voice has been played with in the studio?), the guitarist as always is just ****en pro, the drummer is tight, I have no comment on the bassist, but in the video clip he's definately got a groove going on... I can't ****en wait.

Edit: At the start of the video, you see the singer's tatoo, which kinda looks like a Peacock's eye to me, but does anyone know what it really is? I really like it, although I don't think I would get one that big...

P.S. He looks ****en buff.

I want to know a bit more about the band, do they all have formal training in music, or is it just kinda natural talent? Because they write (imo), some of the best music ever, if it's just all natural talent, there's still hope for me :D

I agree.

I love thew new song, though.

If you're talking about the thing on his forearm, the drummer designed it. He has one too.
P.S. He looks ****en buff.
Seriously, my standards in men are much higher than my standards in women, and Brandon Boyd is one of the, like, two guys on this planet I would make out with. srsly. I would.

As far as I know, the guitarist is the only one with formal music training. But Ben the bassist has a lot of experience as a sort of session/stage musician, so he knows his theory n shiz. But yes, a lot of it is natural talent. There is hope for you yet. :D

penelope weird hands 11-05-2006 04:58 AM

Heard those samples and I'm very intrigued.
Fucking great band and it should be another awesome album this year along with Mastodon's Blood Mountain, Deftones Saturday Night Wrist and others.

mick7 11-05-2006 06:27 AM

Incubus are awesome, love there guitar sound.

Fav songs:

Make yourself
Wish you were here
Circles

Peace.

mutant! 11-05-2006 06:55 AM

I like the new bassist. :) And as far as the guitar sound goes, Sick Sad Little World ftw, k?

-:Vincent:- 11-05-2006 07:16 AM

Incubus is overrated...IMO.

Chu 11-05-2006 07:20 AM

I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread would disagree.

-:Vincent:- 11-05-2006 07:28 AM

Yes...sadly, oh well.

penelope weird hands 11-05-2006 08:34 AM

^Good posts, man.
