I was just listening to more Magnificent City. Its pretty bad, that goes for Aceyalone as well.

Madlib and Shadow are pretty awesome thouugh. Have you heard any Quasimoto? Madlib is pretty awesome on those records.
Magnificent City is just bad all together. Aceyalone has proved to be one of the best MC's out there though, so I am under the impression RJD2 just game him no real room to work.

I haven't heard any Quasimoto. I have heard his stuff with the Lootpack, Madvillian, and his solo work; none of which is really that fun to listen to.

Tyler 09-20-2006 07:10 PM

Quasimoto gets a little irritating after a while.

ATM 09-20-2006 07:18 PM

Yea, i definantly like him much more when he is featured on a track.

Happymeal 09-20-2006 09:02 PM

I stopped listening to The Outsider after a couple of tracks. Should I give it another chance?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-20-2006 09:06 PM

At least give the entire album a chance before you give you opinion on it; you could be missing out on some really badass music.

Tyler 09-20-2006 09:25 PM

The site needs more flippin Hiphop reviews. I think I'm going to do a few.

The Jungler 09-20-2006 09:26 PM
The site needs more flippin Hiphop reviews. I think I'm going to do a few.
Please do. I'll be writing a few in the future as well.

Rams 09-20-2006 10:00 PM

Does anyone use the review section of this site? It seems most of it is just word of mouth telling each other what is and what isn't good.

antiant 09-20-2006 10:08 PM

nope, i could careless what other people's opinions on a particular album is, i listen for me, therefore it's pointless to me

Kyle 09-21-2006 07:04 AM

I can understand why you guys don't use the review site as much as the forums, but if we ever want to see a Hip Hop forum here, then we need to really push the review site. I'd love to see you write a Hip Hop review Antiant, you might not like reading other people's oppinions, but it'd be great to see you put accross your own.

I've gotta review some more Hip Hop too, I swore that I would, but havn't gotten round to it. I still pln on reviewing one or both of Dizzee's albums, it's just about finding the time.

Also, if you guys don't have time to write full review, maybe do soundoffs, or at the very least try and post in the Hip Hop listening Parties. the current one is for Cypress Hill, access it here;
nope, i could careless what other people's opinions on a particular album is, i listen for me, therefore it's pointless to me
Then why do you discuss albums here? I care about the opinions of others, because they can help me find stuff I enjoy.

JonM 09-21-2006 08:17 AM

When I get the time and the motivation, I'm gonna review American Hunger.

Can you upload Dizzee Rascal's albums (or at least Boy In Da Corner) to the mailing list?
Can you upload Dizzee Rascal's albums (or at least Boy In Da Corner) to the mailing list?
I'll get on them tonight.

The Jungler 09-21-2006 02:14 PM

The new Ice Cube single is pretty cool.

1337 post count.

I wouldnt mind trying it either, but not any time soon. It's too huge, I'm not ready!

sexymuffin 09-21-2006 04:01 PM

So I'm DIGGING blackalicious atm

Little Man being Erased 09-21-2006 04:30 PM

You know what really annoys me? Skits. I'd like to know who could possibly think they could improve an album by including skits.

Tyler 09-21-2006 04:34 PM

I know.

Skits are rarely funny. They infuriate me.

We_Love_Lime 09-21-2006 04:40 PM

You guys listen to Atmosphere?

The Jungler 09-21-2006 04:55 PM
You know what really annoys me? Skits. I'd like to know who could possibly think they could improve an album by including skits.
The skits on Operation Doomsday are really awesome, though they're barely skits.

And yeah, I listen to Atmosphere. Fuck You Lucy is one of my favorite rap songs of all time.

Deltron 3030 has cool skits.

I need to buy Blackalicious albums that aren't Blazing Arrow.

We_Love_Lime 09-21-2006 04:59 PM

Yeah.

Skits are cool sometimes if they go along with the whole story of the album.
I don't mind listining to a song and than suddenly just hear 40 minutues of something other than singing.

Little Man being Erased 09-21-2006 05:01 PM

Actually yeah, the skits on Deltron 3030 are possibly the least irritating I've heard. But they still don't make the album any better.

The Craft is worth a listen. It's nowhere near the brilliance of Blazing Arrow, but it has some great tracks.

The Jungler 09-21-2006 05:02 PM

I don't remeber the Deltron skits. I should probably relisten to that CD anyways.

We_Love_Lime 09-21-2006 05:06 PM

I don't even really listen to them.
They just play.

Maybe they'd help me understand the album better.
So Maybe I should check out Blackalicious as well.

Little Man being Erased 09-21-2006 05:15 PM

Yeah, everyone that hasn't checked out Blackalicious should check out Blackalicious. Blazing Arrow is the album you need.

Tyler 09-21-2006 05:18 PM

the Lucy Ford EPs are bloody amazing, I was listening to it earlier today. His later material is still good, but he seemed to lose it a little over time. This line's a personal favourite of mine:
I watched the children scurry in circles around a two-way mirror, worrying about which side of the glass projects the reflection clearer.
I'm not that much of a hiphop aficionado, but Blazing Arrow is the best hiphop album I've heard.
