Any chance I can grab those, too?
[enail]baerwitness@yahoo.com |
Thanks d00d.
I can do that for you. I like them alot, but Electric Wizard is my favorite.
Have you heard Boris' album Dronevil? It's heavier and ten times better than anything Electric Wizard has put out (this coming from an EW fan!). If you want it I will send it to you. It's two discs, one drone disc and one "evil" disc that overlap if you synch them up. It's one of the best heavy albums I've ever heard. |
Could I have it too?
peter_time (at) hotmail.com Thanks a lot. Anyone love Wormplhelegm too? Damn, I've been on quite a binge with Tomb Of The Ancient King. Really awesome and creepy, the atmopshere with this howling clean guitar over a wall of sound is just mesmerizing. np: Wormphlegm - Epejulamat Monet Tesse Muinen Pauveltin Lauran Ja Lesse |
Wormphlegm are ace, I didn't like their demo due to the extremely thin sound but I love Tomb of the Ancient King heaps.
|
I've got Tomb Of The Ancient King and it's alright.
|
I only have their full length, but that owns imo.
I love it, so eerie. np: Sunn O))) - The Gates Of Ballard |
I love their original take on Doom, it's neither Funeral or Death/Doom. It's almost sludge, really.
|
Do any of you guys like Grief or Graves At Sea?
|

They do justice to 'Torture Doom' That says eough, they do sound sludgey at times. I love them, so dark and creepy.
Do any of you guys like Grief or Graves At Sea?
Only heard them by name, any recommendations? |
I highly reccomend you listen to anything you can get your hands on. It's all really good.
|
Aight. :)
With Grief, I assume you mean the american band and not the Icelandic or English one? |
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Grief I'm talking about it American.
|
There is one other Grief that you could mean a drone/ doom band, one man,
But he hasn't released anything. I'll be looking out for the american one. :) |
Yeah, I checked up, and I was talking about the American band. If you want, you can go to their myspace and listen to some songs. World Of Hurt is a great song.

Thanks man.
Also: Because I'd like to knw and because this thread could use a new sicussion impulse: Does listening to (funeral/drone/stoner/sludge) doom influence your state of mind? Do you get depressed by listening to it, or does it not affect you? Or do you get affected in some other way, like get happy (eg Stoner music) My answer: I'm not really affected by the music I listen to, I listen a lot of Funeral Doom, one of the most depresing genres I could think off. But I dn't get :( because of listening to this genre. Same with any other 'slow' genre. Stoner makes me relaxed and layed back ( I don't smoke while listening to it, but still). How about you guys? |
Nah, it doesn't really affect the mood I'm in. It can bring me from upset to happy though, just not the other way around. I remember the first time I heard Thergothon, it put me in such a good mood because it was so good, haha. Usually with Doom, it just puts me in, like you said, somewhat of a relaxed state. It never actually makes me depressed, but I can still enjoy the beauty of it's depression.

I did a balanced, objective little peice on Candlemass's "Nightfall" on the reviews site. Have read if you want an even, non-sensational view on the place of this album in the metal pantheon.

How about you guys?
Nah, the only music that affects me is Black Metal, only certain bands. Like Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God, Wolves In The Throne Room - Diadem Of 12 Stars, and Leviathan - The Tenth Sublevel Of Suicide. And Sigur Ros - ( ), but that's not really Black Metal :p Do any of you listen to Giant Squid? I love this band, I've been listening to them ever since my friend told me about them, after he saw them live with Aggaloch and Wolves In The Throne Room. |
I only know Giant Squid because they're on The End records.
But besides that I draw a blanc. Any recommendations? :) |

It's extremely good though, check out the songs Neonate, Summit, and Revolution In The Water. Neonate is my favorite though, the riff in the song is so awesome, I have it stuck in my head forever after I listen to it :p |
