I dont really mind it either. The only thing that bugs me is that its 13:22

Deth 10-21-2006 10:01 AM

I like the album quite a bit. Lochness is awesome.

Hellrider is the best on it though me thinks.

I have still been listening to Priest with vigor over the past couple of months and was wondering where this thread got to.

pate 10-21-2006 10:04 AM

Yeah, it's too long for its own good.

Deth 10-21-2006 10:06 AM

When I saw them last year my friend and I started chanting Lochness but stopped when we realized that everyone else just wanted to hear Breaking the Law again.

I'm your Loch Ness monster.

Breaaking the law is sooo badass live though \m/

Anyone know if they have ever played between the hammer and the anvil live? That song always struck me as a 'live' song i guess.

EDIT: trailer for halfords performence at rock in rio 2001 (same year iron maiden headlined it :p)

Deth 10-23-2006 09:01 PM

Probably not, though I'm not too sure on that.

Defenders of the Faith \m/

Riva 10-23-2006 11:09 PM

The main problem I have with Lochness is that it's a 4 minute song, with 9 minutes of filler.

pate 10-23-2006 11:10 PM

This is so true.

-The Frank 10-27-2006 09:23 AM

I wouldnt say that. The only part that i dont care that much for is the more quiet part in the song right at the 9 minute mark.

FatalEnergy 10-28-2006 12:39 AM

I still haven't heard the new album yet, so I can't judge it

Apocalyptic Raids 10-28-2006 07:35 AM

It's worth getting if you're a Priest fan. Deal With The Devil is easily as good as any of their classic songs.

-The Frank 10-28-2006 09:17 AM

I was just listening to that a moment ago. I love the 'gotta deeeeeeeeeal with the devil' part. Such a great song \m/

pate 10-28-2006 09:51 AM

Worth Fighting For is one of my absolute favorite Priest songs.

Deth 10-29-2006 05:01 PM

The lack of love for Hellrider ITT makes me question everybody's sexuality.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-29-2006 08:10 PM

Deal With The Devil > Hellrider

metal-militia 10-29-2006 08:11 PM

Exciter > Every other Priest song. :p

Deth 10-29-2006 10:11 PM

Nah, it's up there but I can name a few which better Exciter.

Halford > Other Queers
:p

Quiksilver26 10-29-2006 11:39 PM

Halford > Others

The man is just legendary. The God of Metal himself .

Dickinson>Halford

Dickinson > Halford = Mercury

IMO, no-one touches Dickinson.

I've been listening to Sad Wings of Destiny so much lately. I just can't get enough of it. It seems kind of introspective to me.

-The Frank 10-30-2006 06:31 AM

I sitll havent bought SWoD yet. :(

But good man with the Dickinson>halford :thumb:

Apocalyptic Raids 10-30-2006 08:02 AM

Sad Wings has cool songs, but the production is really annoying.

Usually I just listen to Unleashed In The East.

MetalOz 10-30-2006 08:07 AM

The live versions are far better than the studio ones. The vocals on the studio version of Tyrant are quite annoying but the live version is great. The increased tempo of all the songs helps too...

Is the production really that bad? I thought British Steel's production was terrible IMO of course.
Thats also the reason i like maiden to priest, better production

It's not ultra raw or anything, it's just a really really bizarre mix.

Good call, it has much better versions of the songs as well as production.
Something else we agree on? :p

Halford > Dickinson

Bub 10-30-2006 02:33 PM

seeing Hellrider live changed my opinion of the song, its great. the whole "me..ga...tron" annoyed me at first but he did it better live. And the solo, phwoar! Dual cain!

Sad Wings is indeed a very strange album for its mix, and also contains some strange songs. But, it works, and I can never get enough of the IMO overlooked "Isle Of Domination". And come on, Victim of Changes...

Deth 10-30-2006 09:01 PM

Just about every song kicks poontang on Sad Wings. The Ripper sounds much more ominous on the album.

Bub, where in Derbyshire are you from?
