Riva 12-26-2004 02:53 AM

Gilmour sings on all of DSOT and PULSE. Roger wasn't with the band at the time.

Gilmour is also the doctor in Comfortably Numb.

And I am hesitant to wear a Floyd shirt, for fear of being labelled a poser. :upset:

I will be buying this shirt soon :thumb:

Riva 12-26-2004 03:46 AM

Not if I buy it first, you bastard. :D

So, yeah, out of interest, if you had the money, who would want to visit me in Aus? :p

Tanglewood 12-26-2004 09:13 AM

Words cannot explain how good Pink Floyd are.
I'll rap my reply with 3 words: Freakin' well brilliant!

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-26-2004 10:50 AM

Now THAT is a badass shirt. And, for the record, I would visit you Riva. But then again, I don't have the money, so who cares. Would you visit me in..Mabton, Washington, United States. (Yes, it is the home of the first US mad cow case. :D )

Prince of Darkness 12-26-2004 11:13 AM

Is there a P.U.L.S.E DVD?

DeusExMachina 12-26-2004 11:14 AM

Riva, I thought Waters was the doctor in CN? Isn't Gilmour doing the chorus, "there is no pain you are receding" and all that jazz? Oh, and I would definitely visit you if I had the cash. And I am so going to get that t-shirt. My god. I wants it. It's my precious.

Kombucha Mushroom Mofo, is that at all near Seattle? I used to live in Seattle, just moved out a couple months ago.

Prince of Darkness 12-26-2004 11:20 AM

The Wall is a Great Album, I love it. But If Gilmour was singing on it, it would be ten times better. Agree?

Disagree, Waters voice better fits the cynical, depressing, dark nature of the album. The combination of their voices is well done, but you need both of them.

I agree. Rogers voice is so much better for the mood of the album. The parts where Gilmour sings his voice fits the mood better.

Yes, check amazon.com for it.

DeusExMachina 12-26-2004 11:47 AM
Gilmour does sing on it...and to DeusExMachina, I thought that Gilmour did the "There is no pain, you are receding" parts of Comfortably Numb as well.
Yeah, I thought so, but Riva said Gilmour did the doctor part, so I was confused. Whatev.

And no, I don't think The Wall would have been better if Gilmour had done the singing. I just can't imagine anyone but Waters singing Run Like Hell, or In The Flesh.

I can imagine Bob Geldof singing In the Flesh and In the Flesh? because he does on the movie.

Bob Geldof really fits great as the "Pink" character in The Wall, and his voice doesn't sound that far off from Roger's on "In The Flesh".

DeusExMachina 12-26-2004 01:23 PM

Eh, he sings, but I don't think he does that great of a job. He just tries to make it too flashy, in my opinion. Not flashy, necessarily, but I don't like the way he sings it.

He doesn't really sing it on "In The Flesh?"... well kinda.. but I see it as more of a speech or something the second time, because he commands certain races (blacks) and lifestyles (gays) to leave... I don't know, I just don't see it as a song as much as the first In The Flesh.

ShineOnYouCrazyDiamond 12-26-2004 02:47 PM

They only have bootlegged versions. Real thing isn't out.

magicbus 12-26-2004 05:08 PM

Gilmour sings chorus and Waters sings verse on Comfortably Numb.

The first time I watched The Wall, I was thinking In The Flesh would be just like the song. I was a little suprised and kinda disappointed when Geldof started singing cause he sounded too exaggerated. I guess I got used to it by the second song, but it definently caught me off guard the first time.

Gilmour, just to confirm, the pompeii dvd has the entire old version? or just parts of it? I'm just concerned cause I wanna make sure that it has everything that's on the old version. It bugs me when stuff gets left out.

Lateralias 12-26-2004 05:36 PM
OK...since I've never seen The Wall, does Geldof actually sing on it, or does the film simply contain the songs off The Wall, as sung by Waters and Gilmour?
Bob Geldof sings on both of the In The Flesh songs, and I'm positive that's all he sings, rest is all from the band as normal. And The Wall DVD has all the songs on the album plus When The Tigers Broke Free and What Shall We Do Now (which are both great songs in my opinion), Hey You isn't "in" the movie, but if you get the DVD you can watch it as a special feature...

Guess who got the DVD? :D

Riva 12-26-2004 05:41 PM

Correction: You guys are right. I was listening to DSOT when I made that post. Roger is the doctor, Gilmour is the "mysterious voice".

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-26-2004 05:41 PM

Bastard. I need the DVD. My mom "banned" from purchasing anything in December, b/c of Xmas..But now I have money saved for The Wall DVD and the rest of the Floyd albums I don't have. :D
Kombucha Mushroom Mofo, is that at all near Seattle? I used to live in Seattle, just moved out a couple months ago.
It's about 3 hours southeast of Seattle. Are you coming back?

GnelF 12-26-2004 05:55 PM

Division bell all the way.

High Hopes, Marooned, Poles Apart, all off of that album are amazing amazing songs. AMAZING.

Gilmours just amazing.

once again. Amazing.

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-26-2004 05:58 PM

I was just listening to High Hopes. That song is freaking great. What do you guys think of the rest of Division Bell?

Kingofdudes 12-26-2004 08:01 PM
They only have bootlegged versions. Real thing isn't out.
Oh shi, you are correct.

BludgeonySteve 12-26-2004 10:51 PM

. That looks awesome.

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-26-2004 10:55 PM

65 bucks! US?!?!

And I thought The Wall DVD was expensive

DeusExMachina 12-26-2004 11:27 PM
It's about 3 hours southeast of Seattle. Are you coming back?
Probably not to live, sadly. But I'm going to visit during spring break.

Also, on The Wall DVD, they butchered Mother. And I didn't like how they superimposed the "we don't need no education" chant over the solo in ABITW pt. 2. But, it's still definitely a good buy.

Riva 12-27-2004 12:03 AM

Well, I have just watched the DVD of the Wall, and can I say I was both impressed and upset. Impressed with the sheer artistic beauty of it all, but upset with both the lack of a few key songs, and also, as Deus said, the suprisingly badly twisted version of Mother.

However, over all it was an excellent view.
