I honestly don't think Children of Bodom are a band to cover if you've been playing under 5-6 years. I really didn't like it tbh.

Not 2, I've been playing for 4. But I don't try and play stuff out of my league, which is one of the things that sets me apart from most guitarists. Sure, I'll try it, but I won't go around claiming I can play it when really it's complete sloppy bullsh!t.
I can only play a few Bodom solos, and they're not even full speed but they are accurate. Well actually, I've learnt most of Alexi's solos.

Again, people might claim to be able to play it, but it's unlikely that it'd sound like the cd, which is the most important thing imo.

So true, so true, If I was blessed with 5-string I might attempt, but the bass part to the start of the tune "Warheart" is beyond the speed I can get with finger style, and I can't do any better with pick.

Couldn't you just tune down to A, and not have a G? I wouldn't know if he uses it or not but that's what I do when I want to play Meshuggah or Nevermore on guitar.

And yeah Warheart is pretty fast, 190ish I think. Whip out the ol' metronome and you should get pretty close.

I learned the riff to Kissing the Shadows on keyboard last night because I was bored.

Because every cover I hear sucks, in all honesty.

I mean Kissing the Shadows is HARD, if you broke it down bar by bar, people would realise.

Silent Night, Bodom Night, everyone picks that intro bit with tremelo pickign when in fact it's controlled triplets, same with the lead part on the high E string, and the
sweeping bit after, ugh.

What else...

Needled 24/7, that intro solo is also harder than most people make out to be.

I think I'll stop with my bitching now, but of course just as Alexi says in the April Guitar World thing, it's fun to just shred and go crazy, but you need to learn to control yourself and learn when to play fast, and realised when you shouldn't.

Also, covers of Technical Difficulties, Scarified, Street Lethal (Racer X), none of them sound like it would if Paul played it, why? because they go too fast too soon, simple.

I don't find Kissing the Shadows hard at all aside from the solos. I can play the Silent Night, Bodom Night triplets correctly, except the lower notes sound a but sloppy. The Needled 24/7 intro solo is tough. :(
