Maybe, the problem with both of them is that you would get people posting "I like them because..." which is also a problem with my example too. Also, I doubt the mods will change the name to something like that even if we wanted to.
True, ture.......... Maybe just the fact that we're keeping this thread going is ticking them off. |
I am quite confused as to how you are going to pull this off. Are you doing it in this thread and if so are you going to use a poll because I am pretty sure you would need the assistance of threadstarter or a mod to do so.
we will make it in this thread and we don't need the assistance of the threadstarter -> see the 5th post in this site. |
we will make it in this thread and we don't need the assistance of the threadstarter -> see the 5th post in this site.
Oic, that is a good way of running it. I meant that you would need threadstarters assistance to make a poll in this thread. |

Where have you been? I have not seen you in ages. |
I think you guys took the thread in Alt. Indie a little too seriously. They just wanted a reaction, and you guys gave it to them.

46 & Tool is probably the best one so far. Or how about Useful Idiots?
And I just spent two days downloading the Salival dvd, and there's no live footage? None? I thought there was at least a little... |
I still like Die Eier Von Tool the best, but maybe I'm just a bit baised :p
|
Where have you been? I have not seen you in ages.
I have been at France on holiday for 2 weeks. |

Meh, I don't really care because I would've been running BitComet that whole time anyway since I'm downloading the 4th season of Scrubs. And if I want live footage, I still have the Oklahoma show on VCD. :)

|
I'm still going for 46&Tool.
On a side-note: Last night I saw Trivium/In Flames/Shadows Fall/Mudvayne on an Ozzfest off-date. It was at Jannus Landing(THE best venue ever) in St.Petersburg(Florida). All the bands were amazing live. |
46 & Tool is probably the best one so far. Or how about Useful Idiots?
"Useful Idiots" only, or "Tool - Useful Idiots" |
To whoever knows German- How do you say "new" in German? I think, for at least the next six months or so, we should have "und keine <new> Tool." Then we could change it when the new album comes out, and have the new name have something to do with the new Dualdisc album.
|
New = Neu
Although, in context of "und keine <new> Tool," it would be "Und Keine Neue Tool" |
then you have to name it: "Und kein neues Tool" [better: "Kein neues Tool"] or "Immer noch kein Tool"
"Und Keine Neue Tool"
when you say "und keine neue tool" you have to add something: f.e.: und keine neue tool CD |
Oh...I guess I was a little off there. Does Tool even have an article?
EDIT: OH, yeah, you're right. It would be "Und kein neues Tool." |
Oh...I guess I was a little off there. Does Tool even have an article?
EDIT: OH, yeah, you're right. It would be "Und kein neues Tool."
you're right... tool has no article... |
We'dhave to keep Und Kiene at least. Even if it is grammatically incorrect, it would lose it's allusion if we fooled around with it, you know?
Und Kein Neues Tool! Vote for this one! |
hm... we can call it: "Tool - Fehlanzeige" (in engl.: negative report) but it has nothing to do with a tool-song.
@Dr. Jake Destructo: 'Und Kein Neues Tool' is grammatically correct |
If we were grammatically incorrect, we'd run the risk of looking like fools to any fluent German speakers...it's like saying "And None New Tool" :p
Not literally, but you get the idea. I like the name idea, though. |
What's the difference between keine and kein?
|
If we were grammatically incorrect, we'd run the risk of looking like fools to any fluent German speakers...it's like saying "And None New Tool" :p
with "Und kein neues Tool" is neither incorrect nor correct. it sound only stupid... not german. but "Immer noch kein Tool" will sound better. |
It's grammar. In German, different words have articles based on if they are feminine, masculine, or neutral words. Based on that and the case in which they are used (Dativ, Nominativ, etc.), you have to add the correct ending to any adjective or word used to describe the noun. It's kind of like the difference between saying 'I' or 'Me.'
with "Und kein neues Tool" is neither incorrect nor correct. it sound only stupid... not german. but "Immer noch kein Tool" will sound better.
Even so, we're not trying to speak German, really. It's like saying 46 & Tool. That's not correct English either, just replacing one word. |

i'm impressed. you know german-grammer better than me :thumb: i never think of grammar, for me its natural to speak correctly... i suppose that's the same with you, when you speak english. when i write/speak english i have to think about grammer. in german not. |
Ok, but with Immer noch kein Tool, it wouldn't really have anything to do with Tool. I know that Und Kein neues Tool is incorrect, but it's a whole lot cooler, just because it actually has something to do with Tool. :p
|
We should try and stay away from doing the "-" thing, like "Cool - Tool" or "Tool - Cool". It won't look good on the main page.
|

I have to think about German grammar when I'm doing it, which is why I'm able to say all that. Hopefully someday I'll be fluent enough so I don't have to. :) |

hehe... you will. when did you start learning german? |

So this means that your vote goes for Und Kein Neues Tool? When I speak spanish, I have to really think about grammar beforehand. Things like using the correct conjugation, correct article, etc...It has to do with the way you learn the language, I think. With your first language, you grow up hearing it, and you know that this is the way it is supposed to sound, but when you learn a language at a later age, like say when you take a highschool language class, you get a lot more insight on the reason behind why it sounds correct. |
I started learning it about three years ago. I intend to keep learning it until I'm fluent in it...and that may include a trip to Germany one of these days.

Because a lot of the grammar rules in English come from German, and I've been able to make connections about the actual technicalities in English that, before, I just knew sounded right. |

Can we all just vote on our favorite name so far? I think its easier then making a new thread with a poll and what not... Lets all just say it.
|
just make a thread ..ffs
it doesn't have to have a fancy name. as long as people know it's a purely tool related thread. |
People will vote anyway. Theres been a constant influx of noobs who won't listen to us.
|
Ok. So when does the voting start?
I've already got my choice. *coughFortySix & Tool*cough |
haha.
mx noobs = tool noobs. thats what you should call the thread. |
Die Eier Von Tool for me.
|
Im past caring about the name personally.
In other news, i wore my Tool shirt yesterday when I went into town, and was asked by half the shopkeepers about my age about the album release date. I think the UK must be full of closet tool fans, as most of them i knew had never shown any real toolaship before. |
For me it's really between either "-TOOL-" or "FortySix & Tool"
i think I'm gonna go for the non-lame one, but then again 46&Tool is so witty... |
