not a universal idea. deism "disproves" that.
how? |
because i said so.
people have become dissilutioned about christianity over the years (indulgences/Tetzl) but if you look at newer religions such as protestantism- definetly not a ploy to make money.
The base of Christianity could very much be a scam. |
Only basing your life on what science gives you doesn't give art a chance. You have to look past what is concrete and actually try to perceive somthing in a different way other than your five senses to recognize somthing as art. Non of the things you mentioned are explained by science.
Im not arguing science Im arguing what there is to live for with out a "god". Why are you so stuck on arguing the "follies" of science. Can you explain dinosaurs for me? That is with out using uncredible evidence that science has came up with. |
God got bored...
and i dont believe in the whole "test man" thing with the apple. Its my belief that if anyone thinks it REALLY was an apple that ruined everything, they are sadly mistaken |
It's much easier to hate religion for this reason. How would you answer these:
Why did God created Man? Why did he have to test Man when He knew (God knows it all!) that he was going to reject Him?
I do believe that Man is here for a reason and that is to live. It's very complicated but I veiw life as a gift. The reason we are hear, I believe, is so that we can ask questions and find out certain things, to expirience love, loss, artistic creativity, and to search for your own soul. This is pretty much the best way I can put it.
Im not arguing science Im arguing what there is to live for with out a "god".
I said "religion", not "god". |
^not satisfying enough ;)
and i dont believe in the whole "test man" thing with the apple. Its my belief that if anyone thinks it REALLY was an apple that ruined everything, they are sadly mistaken
Well dont take literally whatever it is in the Bible. This is a metaphore for the fact that somehow Man denied God. goodnight good people \m/ |
how?
deism in general thinks of God as a "clockmaker God" a god who put life/people/man/the world in motion and has left it to itself to do what it may. NP:rjd2 |

I said "religion", not "god".
Then why are you arguing? You are definitely arguing for a christian religion. Which has a god. |
God dammit, I missed out on another fun conversation (EDIT: okay, so I guess I didn't : |).
Every time I quoted something to reply to, someone said the same thing I was going to say (roughly), and any diverging input that I had just isn't worth responding to. However, a couple things I'd like to point out:
That's not objectivity. Objectivity with no possibility of subjectivity isn't objectivity.
For some reason, I thought this was cool, in a smash-your-face kind of way. Tough to clarify my opinion on it, for sure, but this is a true statement.
It's also possible that some religions, such as Christianity were founded on a lie, and used as a scam to get money from people.
Mmm... no. Money didn't exist back when religions were founded - the closest you'd come to in terms of currency is trade. You can be sacreligious all you want and that's fine, but when you argue your case poorly, it doesn't really help your argument. It's like writing a persuasive paper. If you don't have any evidence to support your thesis, your paper flops. The same goes for hardcore Jebus freeks. |
Hey everybody, I just got a haircut... 1 1/2 inches off :upset:.
How short is it now?

It's in my eyes now, not past.
Wow, shorter then mine. My hair is the longest it's ever been right now since my parents finally told me I can grow my hair however I want it, so I'm happy to be living the metal. |
/me posts.
ooh, discussion! Let's see if I miss the point!
It's also possible that some religions, such as Christianity were founded on a lie, and used as a scam to get money from people.
Whoa, Nelly. You seemed to point out Christianity pretty quick. While it can be argued whether or not Jesus was the messiah, blah blah blah, etc etc etc...I believe the real, er, "hypocrisy", let's say,--- or "blasphemy", hell I can't come up with a good word because I'm an id'jut--- in the church first surfaced during the middle ages. Medival times, ya know? When the church had the rule, and god was mighty blablabla you shall adhere to wait we say all else is heresy...you know, forcing the 100% devotion to the church. I think they might have interpreted the bible the way they wanted to, you know? (While translating it or whatever) It seems pretty damn spiteful towards "sins" that seem commonplace between man. You know, homosexuality, adultery, divorce, etc...but then again it might have been worse in Jesus' time, you never know. If I remember correctly, a lot of the New Testament dated back to 100-and-over A.D., which would be about 100 years after Jesus died. So perhaps those accounts were passed on by tradition or hearsay and people screwed up the story and interpreted it their own way. I don't know, I'm just talkin' out of my ass and trying to be smart
Hey everybody, I just got a haircut... 1 1/2 inches off :upset:. NP: Without a Trace- The Birth Of Alchemy ZOMG I lissen to mi own band lolz
Haha, you guys are good... and my mommy made me get it cut :upset:. |
When I was home, I got my hurrs cut. I get a haircut the week before uni starts, then I don't get it cut until spring break because the wind can be so awful here, but since we've had an obnoxiously warm winter, there was no point, so I got it cut really short. And I've gotten compliments from girls!
Today, I wore my glasses and they said I looked like a "cool nerd." I didn't really know how to interpret that, seeing as how I've worn glasses since... sometime in elementary school and I didn't get contacts until ninth grade. I thought I looked older with my longer hair and glasses combination, though. But hey. My eyes are terrible, though. I'm saving up for Lasik surgery, even though that has side effects (because your eyes are forced open, they dry out during the surgery, so you need to put drops in all day to keep them moist). But, that's better than having to pay for glasses/contacts prescriptions all the time. |

I had to get my 3 cents in, dammit
Haha, you guys are good...
Nah. But you'll have to buy an EP once we get done with it. Which shan't be long from now :D |

I've not gotten more than a trim in about a year and a half. But before that I had it all but buzzed heh. So it's not hugely long, maybe 6" or so.
I only have glasses for long distance and they work fine, plus our insurance covers it so eh. |
Nah. But you'll have to buy an EP once we get done with it. Which shan't be long from now :D
Yeah dude.... I need to figure out a way to buy it from you... maybe I could send you dollas in the mail and you send me a copy. NP: Norther - Evil Ladies The new album is mad. |

Oh, I have insurance and things like that, but I do have to pay for the frames, not the examination and other stuff itself. It's not like I'm completely covered for anything health-related, though, haha. |
I can't decide whether to cut my hair short and keep in neat for awhile of if I should go for the jugular and grow it out.
Oh, I have insurance and things like that, but I do have to pay for the frames, not the examination and other stuff itself.
Our insurance covers up to like $150 frames, any over is our responsibility, I think. I know mine were entirely covered. |
Yeah dude.... I need to figure out a way to buy it from you... maybe I could send you dollas in the mail and you send me a copy.
NP: Norther - Evil Ladies The new album is mad.
Well yeah, man, we're only chargin 5 bucks for it. And I guess if you want a shirt to whore us you could send 10 more :p haha. But you'll defenitely get a CD. |

Well, yeah. But the kind goverment paid for mine. :) |
Well, when I go get contacts, I don't go to an optometrist - I just go to CostCo or something with the prescription. It's wayyyyyyyyy cheaper that way, especially with insurance and things. But since I need to go to the optometrist for my frames, I still have to pay a little (because all the frames are over $150 there, unless I get kid glasses, which wouldn't support my prescription, haha).
Well, yeah. But the kind goverment paid for mine. :)
/me inserts Brian Regan and Lewis Black joke about IHOP |
