If you put the text down a little bit so it actually points to your avatar, it would be the best post ever as well.
I tried to do that first go, but I now realise you can't just enter down a few lines.
Anyway, book discussions.....

A Clockwork Orange takes a lot of getting used to, but I love it. And I love the hell out of Harry Potter, and can't wait for the new one. I don't have it pre-ordered though, because I'm going to buy it from Asda like all the other non-morons.
Curious as to why buying it as Asda is such a good idea.

Anyway, Iai, just have to ask if you're still planning on doing your Modern Rock thing in R&M? As YDload's bassists is drawing to a close.

Little Man being Erased 07-13-2005 06:38 PM
As long as you live outside the UK, no.

It's a supermarket. Don't know what you call those wherever you live.
We have Coles and Woolworths and lots of other 'budget' supermarkets in Australia.

Iai 07-13-2005 06:39 PM

It's cheaper. Plus, they always have loads of copies, and you don't have to fight/queue for them. I've bought all the previous 3 from Asda, and then spoken to friends who are upset because the bookshop sold out. I'm like....'wow, I could have bought 20 where I went.'

I'll still do it, yeah. Need to clear up some rules with mods and regulars though. I'll do that now, I guess.

Woolworths isn't quite the same, but yeah, that sort of thing.

Woolies is also a good place to buy it, actually.

I figure the bookshops deliberately understock because they're hoping that if people visit their shop more often, they're more likely to buy something else.

Little Man being Erased 07-13-2005 06:43 PM

I don't think our supermarkets actually sell much in the way of books. I've seen a very small section of rubbish at my local one.

Iai 07-13-2005 06:43 PM

Ours usually don't, but they make an exception for such a big event. :)

Little Man being Erased 07-13-2005 06:46 PM

I see. I can't friggin wait 'til Saturday.

Bartender 07-13-2005 06:49 PM

How much cheaper?

I'm also a big fan of Harry Potter (the books, anyway), incidentally. I feel strange, at my age, being excited for what is essentially still seen as a kids' book, but I feel justified seeing as Harry started school in the same year I did. The first three books were on time; if only she hadn't started taking breaks :(

Little Man being Erased 07-13-2005 06:55 PM

Yeah, I feel the same way. The books are just so incredibly good, that I don't care if some people see me as childish.

What year did Harry start school? I don't seem to remember.

Happymeal 07-13-2005 06:56 PM

^There's not really much to complain about though. The recent 2 have been even better. (to Bartender)

Iai 07-13-2005 06:58 PM
How much cheaper?
It was about £4 cheaper last time.

Glitterati 07-13-2005 07:02 PM

I used to have really round Harry Potter-esque glasses in elementary school. Oh, how cruel some kids can be :upset:

Zmev 07-13-2005 09:27 PM

Zmev 07-13-2005 11:43 PM

So I listened to my first Saetia song tonight.

I was forced to resort to Portishead to cleanse myself of it.

br3ad_man 07-14-2005 12:36 AM

Does anyone get annoyed by guys who do everything for girls? Like for example, if a girl has a problem with someone, the guys I'm talking about will be like "oh don't worry, I'll fix it for you".

Most irritating thing ever. "Oh yeah I'm a gentleman so I do everything for girls". grrr

Zmev 07-14-2005 12:38 AM

My friend told me to ask my friend "playfully" if shed let me "plook her".

He obviously takes too much advise from gay mens magazines.

Parfait 07-14-2005 12:51 AM

Use the word "plook" in place of your stars, and it's a perfect way to test the waters.
My friend told me to ask my friend "playfully" if shed let me "**** her".
One time I was talking to a girl, and the last time I had talked to her before that she got all disgusted when people talked about sex, and this time we were openly talking about anal, oral, etc. I politely offered a few times, jokingly, though also serious, and she refused. :upset:

In other news: It looks like I need a new toaster, there seems to be a short in the plug chord.

Zmev 07-14-2005 02:20 AM
