People just love talking about Opeth, I guess. You must have been gone for quite sometime if that's what the reply count was when you last saw it.
I think the fact that Opeth just recently toured might have played a part in it.

That's probably a good reason, and there are always new fans coming in, and the talk of old albums is always constant as well.
Alright, I have a question not relating to Opeth, but related to this thread...

Last time I looked at the number of replies, it was somewhere's around 5,000, and it wasn't too long ago I remember it. How did this thread skyrocket up to nearly 14,000 posts
Because theres like 3-4 new people that just post like mad. :p

Shattered_Future 04-27-2006 05:16 PM

I haven't been listening to much Opeth lately...

Other stuff with Mike in it though. Mostly The Human Equation by Ayreon...

Darkness 04-27-2006 05:19 PM

Yeah I haven't been listening much either, just a song or two here and there.

Same here. It's because it's spring. It's Porcupine Tree season. In September I'll probably start going heavy on the Peth again.

Elmo McCheese 04-27-2006 06:29 PM

Yeah I listen to lighter stuff in the summer, heavier stuff in the winter. My friend makes fun of me for listening to Sublime too much these days.

I listen to a quite a bit of sublime. I don't really change what I listen to by the season but by my mood.

I do too, I guess the season just affects my mood and thus my music selection.

Thor 04-27-2006 06:52 PM

Does anyone else in here love "A Fair Judgement" like I do? It's the only song that has actually made me cry.

Concubine 04-27-2006 06:58 PM

Guys, i only have Morningrise, Still Life and Ghost Reveries. Which other Opeth's album should i get next??

*cough Blackwater Park cough*

Killtacular 04-27-2006 07:03 PM

Correct. Also, Deliverance.

gmoneyguy 04-27-2006 07:05 PM

And Damnation.... hell man finish it off with Orchid.

Thor 04-27-2006 07:06 PM

You might as well just get all of them, they each have their own special qualities that add to to the Opeth legacy.

Nostalgia 04-27-2006 10:25 PM

Yeah, Orchid's my favorite album. The twilight is my robe is one of the best songs I've heard, such emotion.

I actually haven't listened to too much of My arms, your hearse. Pretty good album, right?

Slapping Penguin 04-28-2006 12:31 AM
Perhaps I'm just a little dissappointed with the setlist (could have been slightly better, imo), or that I ended up stuck with a chick who wasn't enjoying herself for the majority of it. Maybe I just have my knickers in a twist because I've had 4 hours sleep in the last two days. Anyway, none of that stuff is even remotely Opeth's wrongdoing. I guess I just didn't enjoy myself as much as I thought I would have.
Yeah, I didn't think the setlist was that amazing, but did like don't get me wrong.

The opening riff to Wreath crushes souls into Damnation.

PS: Blackwater Park the song is soo good.

MAYH is a Great album. Don't associate me with black metal die hard fan but the weak production contributes to the whole sound - dark and dirty.

And yes twilight is my robe is the best song on orchid.

Stoo 04-28-2006 08:46 AM

/Is bidding for Damnation and Deliverance on eBay.

35 Quid. Not bad for both.

My favorite song is The Apostle In Triumph:)

Just thought I should bump.

Stormrider 04-28-2006 04:14 PM

Twilight is my Robe was the first song off the album that I heard. Fell in love with it right away. Looked for tabs for it but never found any PT...

I have yet to pick up that album...something I said I would do many times in here...

Crysiss 04-28-2006 04:15 PM

Do you still not have a PT for it?

Stormrider 04-28-2006 04:16 PM

Still don't have one...never found one.

Crysiss 04-28-2006 04:20 PM

They have tons of GP versions.

I always forget how bad you brits get ripped off on cds and video games and the like. That's a ludicrous amount for 2 cds!

Stormrider 04-28-2006 05:10 PM
They have tons of GP versions.
Yeah, I know. I don't have GP though :p My friend could get it for me, so its ok.

Trooper Rabbit 04-28-2006 05:16 PM

These guys are one of my all-time favorite bands. They are certainly not afraid to make a song longer than the norm, which is definently something I like because you can't really say to much or convey a message with a 5-minute long song.

Well, yeah... but that's because it's bidding, In the shops I'd get them for about 8 pound each.

Anyway, I found a "Buy it Now" price on both of them. So I ordered both.

That completes my Opeth collection. :smoke:

I'm sure The 'Peth boys would find a way. :p

:chug: <3 Orchid. In Mist She Was Standing is a very great song, my personal favorite from the album.

After I bought and listened to Morningrise for a few months, I bought MAYH, listened to it and thought at the time it was Opeth's worst album of the 3. I never listened to it after the first listen, until a few months later. I listened to it on the headphones when I went to sleep almost every night, later memorized all the lyrics and just recently it happened to occur to me that this is their best work to date. I couldn't stand the album at first, but it broke a barrier in my musical taste. There's something about MAYH that burned in my head, and I can't explain how.

As of now, here's my updated Top Five Opeth Songlist:

1. Epilogue
2. Black Rose Immortal
3. In Mist She Was Standing
4. Karma
5. Master's Apprentices
