I'm going to see The Danilo Perez Trio tonight, so I'm listening to some audio clips. He's a Panamanian jazz pianist. I've never heard him before now, but these samples make me think this is going to be a great concert.

Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World.

Well, we all know how I feel about this.
Armalite - Armalite
The debut album from the punk rock supergroup featuring members of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, The Boils, Affirmative Action Jackson, Atom and his Package and Paint it Black. It's really good, the songs Atom s
sings are generally better (particularly the song I am a Pancreas) but it's a tight pop-punk album as a whole.
I'm listening to that right now. It's awesome.

Been listening to a bunch of alt-country type stuff lately. Very much Drive By Truckers, who are becoming one of my favourite bands. And also these albums I got recently...

Son Volt - Trace
Bottle Rockets - The Brooklyn Side
Old 97's - Too Far to Care
Uncle Tupelo - No Depression

...and I have much love for them all. Especially the Son Volt one. Especially the song "Windfall".

Deerfhoof - Apple O'

I needed to add some fun into my afternoon.

Zappa 03-18-2006 02:42 PM

Black Eyes' self-titled. Grooves and ranting and squealing.

Glitterati 03-18-2006 03:01 PM

Panamanian jazz, eh? That sounds pretty damn cool.

After having it for a year and listening to it this afternoon, I have decided that As The Roots Undo is my favourite album of all time.
It's an awesome album. Same Shade As Concrete is such an amazing song, it knocks my socks off every time. I think I'll give it a spin later today.

Today I'm digging the Pet Shop Boys. I've really been into '80s synth-pop lately.

Bukowski 03-18-2006 06:46 PM

Liars - Drum's Not Dead

This has grown on me so so much. Still some weaker moments, but definitely a great album.

NOFX - Never Trust a Hippy

Their new EP which i'm listening to for old times' sake. It's pretty good, much better than the majority of their last album. I hope the new album continues in this vane.

Robert Crumb 03-18-2006 07:29 PM

My week has mostly consisted of Prefuse 73 and X. I got an album from this rap group from Senegal that I've been listening to too, Wegeble. There are some umlats in there or something. Not bad, a little uneven. I don't really get into non-english hip hop much. I don't know why. They could use some boom-bappier beats.

Bartender 03-18-2006 08:04 PM

Jesu - Heart Ache
Jesu - Jesu

As I've just found they've a new EP set for release next month. News which both fills me with joy and, upon further inspection, a little fear.
