Kage 09-03-2005 08:26 PM

Thread with a Penis is out, because you can't get past the swear filter in titles of threads.

deadohiosky9 09-03-2005 08:36 PM

Darkness 09-03-2005 08:39 PM

Die Eier Von Tool.

Darkness 09-03-2005 09:19 PM

Even though that doesn't make sense in German... thats brilliant.

Kage 09-03-2005 09:25 PM

It makes no less sense than the actual title of the song.

But I like that idea as a thread title.

Darkness 09-03-2005 09:26 PM

Wouldn't it be like... the balls of Tool? I guess that makes sense... I didn't really think about it to much.

/minds lost in new Opeth

Otherside 09-03-2005 09:29 PM

I like either that or "(-) Tool"

Kage 09-03-2005 09:34 PM

No, it means "The Eggs of Tool," just like the song means "The Eggs of Satan."

Darkness 09-03-2005 09:37 PM

Really? I was told it ment balls, and always thought that... I never thought to question. Anyways, we have some decent names now. Lets just vote and be done with it.

adioviva 09-03-2005 09:43 PM

I'm sorry, but I am very sick of people worshipping Tool. They play in odd time signatures that simply have nothing to do with the sacred Geometry they supposedly espouse. All my recorded material is based on mathmatical structures that have proven themselves through eons.

Their supposed use of art as a communcation of the collective unconcious is simply elementary rambling. Freud would spit on them given the opportunity.
And since they seem to have the proverbial tit of Freud in their mouths, thats an insult.

On a more basic level, their grasp of modality is, quite frankly, lacking. They rely on the standards set forth by musicians from hundreds of years ago. By that i mean, the concept of a 12 tone music system. It is insulting that they continue to push the tradition that music comprises only these notes, indian music for example, has many many more possibilites for melodic invention. To say that they are truly on the forefront of music, is, with all due respect, disheartening.

Darkness 09-03-2005 09:45 PM

lol... dude your the biggest joke. You tried the same thing in the Dream Theater thread. Just get lost. Now.

You're grasp of Tool is lacking since they mostly play in the mode of D Dorian.

Also there are only twleve tones in all of music. Sure, you can say a pitch between the notes could be used but nobody has done that for about 800 years. Modes use just as many tones as any other scale and Indian style music so you should probably shut your mouth.

Also people, look at what he said in the Rush thread....
cant canada do anything right. sometimes when i hear rush my testicles start to bleed becuase his voice is so high. i cant stand high voices, they make my testicles bleed.

and theyre drumming is annoying too because its all like in odd time and stuff, and my feeble brain cannot handle this "odd time" what the hell is that anyway god what is like the song being 3:43 seconds odd time but like 3:42 even time what the hell

screw canada

And since they seem to have the proverbial tit of Freud in their mouths, thats an insult.
Maybe you should ask your mother about who had her tit in their mouth last night.

I'll continue to add to this flame until justice is served.

whoo's Froooid??? lol cna u give m3 his email yo!!1!??

adioviva 09-03-2005 10:07 PM

my favorite band right now is ars gratia artis. they are progressive "rock" that has little to do with rock other than that they have the usual rock setup, with the inclusion of several drum machines and synth players as well an ondes martenot player.

Mr Herb 09-03-2005 10:14 PM

Whats wrong with odd times? they relax me from all the 4/4 bull**** on the radio

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-03-2005 10:15 PM

So you mean post rock?

I vote for Und Kiene <new tool in german> for the thread title.

/loud cheers

EDIT: Oh, and about these sacred geometric time sigs- Nope, sorry. Maynard wrote the lyrics to Lateralus in the Fibonacci sequence, but the song is in 12/8 time, which really has not a whole to do with sacred geomotry. Also, Danny Carey's drum pattern also somehow progresses along with this pattern, but I'm not a drummer, so I have no clue how to dissect his drumming.

Yesterday, I was driving around with my friend, listening to Hooker, I think, and I was telling him about what Die Eier Von Satan meant, and also how "und kiene eier" meant AND NO EGGS! I then put Die Eier Von Satan on, and at the end, when Maynard whispers "und kiene eier" in that extremely devilish voice, we both just looked at each other for a couple seconds and then just burst out laughing.

Kage, since you're in AP German, could you translate all of Die Eier? :-D

Killtacular 09-03-2005 10:29 PM

I was under the impression Und meant "and." No?

And if I remember correctly, in the 'chorus' part thingy, the drums change from 9/8 to 8/8 to 7/8. Or something. Also, that's not Maynard in Die Eier.

There's a translation in the lyrics part of the Toolshed.

Kage 09-03-2005 10:31 PM

Uhm, not all of it, because the words used are very...well, let's just say they're words that you'd really need to be immersed in a situation where you spoke German all the time to know the words. Stuff like "tablespoon" and "salt." My vocabulary is my weakest part of German, but I'm very good at the grammar and technical aspects of it.

By the way, it's "keine," not "kiene." :p

adioviva 09-03-2005 10:33 PM

its german for balls of satan, its a receipe to make hash brownies, that get you hella stoned WORD UP NUCCAS

Und(and) keine(none/no) eier(eggs)

Yes, this is true, but from my limited knowledge of sacred geometry, there's nothing too sacred about the numbers 7 and 9.

Ok thanks, I'll definitely look there.

adivivivaiovaoa- For thinking Tool is "disheartening" or whatever, you sure do know a helluva lot about them.

adioviva 09-03-2005 10:35 PM

That's what I was referring to. It confused my fragile mind.
987 is some number in the Fibonacci sequence. I'm unaware of sacred geometry in that song.

Kage 09-03-2005 10:40 PM

I just realized I reached 4,000 posts. Awesome.
The Eggs of Satan

Half a cup of powdered sugar
One quarter teaspoo salt
One knifetip Turkish hash
Half a pound butter
One teaspoon vanilla-sugar
Half a pound flour
150 g ground nuts
A little extra powdered sugar
... and no eggs

Place in a bowl
Add butter
Add the ground nuts and
Knead the dough

Form eyeball-size pieces from the dough
Roll in the powdered sugar
and say the Magic Words:
'Sim sala bim bamba sala do saladim'

Place on a greased baking pan and
Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes
...AND NO EGGS

Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes
...and no eggs.
GG Kage!

Scruples- Ah, I never looked at it as actually being nine hundred and eighty-seven. I'm not going to spend the time to add up all of those digits until I reach that point, but I'll see if you're correct on this. And just for the record, out of the three individual numbers, eight is the only number that occurs in the sequence.

Adguy-Callate tu boca despues como tu cara, pinche puto.

Right you are, but it would have been wayy cooller to write a song in alternating bars of three, seven and seven. :p

Kage 09-03-2005 10:46 PM

So, based on that translation, you can see why I wouldn't know a lot of the words in there. But, yeah, there you go.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-03-2005 10:51 PM

Man, I knew sim sala bim bamba sala do salim didn't sound like German. Wahah.

Ok, now the thing that is puzzling me is this- Why the crap would this recipe be in German if the units are "tablespoons?" That is one of the most English units of measurement out there. Stupid Tool.

Kage 09-03-2005 10:54 PM

That's a good point...hold on, let me look at the German lyrics real fast.

adioviva 09-03-2005 10:58 PM

I'm alright at german. CHECK IT:

Der panzerkampfwagon ist verboten. Auf Wiedesein. Ich versherer keine deutsche.

Heineken forever NUCCAS :chug:
