George!
Well, maybe not. But the few songs George did do were great. |
lennon/mcartney definitely. they are like simon and garfunkel together, except lennon and mcartney both do the amazing writing, not just simon.
did that even make sense? |
hey livewired if you are looking for slide songs to play, just take the easy way out and learn In My Time of Dying. it's like the "Smells like Teen Spirit" for slide (all slide noobs just have to learn it)
|
Lennon and McCartney were much, much better than Simon and Garfunkel, methinks.
|
youthinks
|
Ithinks too
|
Did anyone ever check out Kings of Convenience? Similar sound to Belle/Sebastian or Simon/Garfunkel
|
so anyways, tonight i was listening to Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and i've decided i'm gonna round up some musicians and play Down by the River. if people don't like how long it is, they can kiss my furry white ass
me and Neil have the exact same electric style, in my opinion. edit - play it for my schools talent show, i forgot to mention that. :) |

Lennon specifically, but Lennon/McCartney I guess would suffice.
|
Sloppy and distorted?
very much so. thats why i stick to my trusty acoustic. well actually, i like to play clean, and nice and slow and thought out, more like David Gilmour. but if i crank it up, its Neil all the way. |
anyone classic rock around now?
|
Anyone heard the lennon Acoustic album?I myself think its pretty good.
|
I saw Silvertide open for Van Halen too. I didn't like them. That is all.
Oh wait, what should I get at Best Buy today? I'm thinkin Live at Pompeii and Disraeli Gears. But I can get more than that. (65$ in giftcards and an extra 30 some bucks) |
Get Bob Dylan Unplugged.
I got it for Xmas and I love it. |

I already kbow it but thanks for the help. |
Get Bob Dylan Unplugged.

Dylan unplugged is AMAZING!
|
I've never listened to Dylan so I'm not sure if I'd get one without hearing it first. But I did get lots of other cds. I got Pink Floyd - PATGOD, Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs, and The Band's Self Titled and Music From The Big Pink. My dad told me not to get Live at Pompeii a ton of times, so I think someone else got it for me as a late gift, like my aunt.
|
I know i'll get crap for this, but I was listenin to the radio the other day, and that band Silvertide came on. I gotta admit, they can pull of the classic rock thing very well without sounding lame like Jet or one of those bands. I actually kinda like them. Not a lot of bands have been able to do this besides them and maybe the Black Crows.
They sound like AC/DC with Chris Robinson on vocals. They are copying AC/DC full on, not a good thing. |
They still kick the crap out of 99% of modern mainstream music.
You sound like a faggot n00b. |
That's what the old guy behind us was calling Silvertide while they were on stage!
++coincidence |
Thickasabrick is right. Talking about your own issues and such is for the community thread. This is for classic rock stuff and it almost got closed once because we were very off topic.
All crying about **** should be re-directed into the community thread. *gets off of high horse* I've never seen any Beatles compalations. What are some examples?
Wait a sec, is this spammer banned? Hmmm, that would make him quite hypocritical, wouldn't it?
hey livewired if you are looking for slide songs to play, just take the easy way out and learn In My Time of Dying. it's like the "Smells like Teen Spirit" for slide (all slide noobs just have to learn it)
Hey! Spammer, this isn't a slide thread, take it somewhere else! In conclusion, when you have a problem with spam, I reccomend you have some who isn't a real spammer bring the subject up. Sorry I'm a day late. |
I picked up Jefferson Airplane - Greatest hits...21 songs on it, a nice primer.
Those guys+girl were good. I have their s/t debut its kinda folky, hah thent hey discovered LSD thank God, I wanna get Surrealistic Pillow now. |
You sound like a faggot n00b.
That's contributing the thread :thumb:
Wait a sec, is this spammer banned? Hmmm, that would make him quite hypocritical, wouldn't it? Hey! IN MY OPINION u2 is terrible, anyone who agrees go to
That's contributing the thread :thumb:
That's making sense. |
Makes sense to me...or does it?
I never realised how good U2 was before. They've always been kinda average to me but now they're awesome. |
why the hell is badmoon in such a bad mood?
i was talking about good slide guitar songs...you were talking about root canal. i think one relates to classic rock a little more, seeing as i mentioned bands and songs, and you mentioned teeth and freezing gums. i dont mind people/myself getting off topic, but at least make it music related in some way. and i love U2, they are an amazing band. i was kinda worried they would release their version of St Anger, but How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb has some good songs to offer. Even if they aren't as catchy as some of their earler songs, the musicianship is still there. |
While watching The Last Waltz, I noticed Neil Young had something hangin out of his nose. I figured it was just boogers or something, but when I was reading about the movie on another site, I realized it was something else. Cocaine! Just a little though, cause the huge chunk he really had there was edited out.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077838/board/nest/13276322 And I wouldn't get all worked up over what Maddox says about U2. He's a big faggot, but usually is pretty funny too. |
I wasn't a big fan of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, but I haven't heard much else. Is Joshua Tree a good one to get?
|
maddox is the funniest person ever
|
And I wouldn't get all worked up over what Maddox says about U2. He's a big faggot, but usually is pretty funny too.
We've already covered this. kthxbye
Yet another fan on a message board had this to say about "Miracle Drug:" I think that Bono turns pop culture upside down with the line "I've had enough of romantic love." Wow, how profound. Look out pop-culture! Bono has had enough of "romantic love." Here comes Bono and his idiotic fans to make ambiguous jabs at you.
And that's pretty funny right there. |
That would be funny, if it just wasn't so radically wrong. Saying U2 released some of the worst songs of last year is moronic, and it's not even put in a funny way. But yeah...U2's stuff in the 1980s was great, as was Achtung Baby, then they were pretty crap, up till ATYCLB, and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is their best album in ages. And The Edge is someone who's underrated by a lot of people out there.
Very true. I thought it was a great album.
why the hell is badmoon in such a bad mood? i was talking about good slide guitar songs...you were talking about root canal. i think one relates to classic rock a little more, seeing as i mentioned bands and songs, and you mentioned teeth and freezing gums. i dont mind people/myself getting off topic, but at least make it music related in some way. and i love U2, they are an amazing band. i was kinda worried they would release their version of St Anger, but How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb has some good songs to offer.
I wasn't a big fan of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, but I haven't heard much else. Is Joshua Tree a good one to get?
Yes, it's great. I would suggest it to anyone. On a side note, madoxx is not funny. He's pathetic and maybe 1 in 5 of his articles is the least bit entertaining. He's seriously ran out of clichéd opinions to give his version of and needs to stop. Paronoidd is the much better ranter :). |
Yes you are a day late. Really late.
You put me in my place
i was talking about good slide guitar songs...you were talking about root canal. i think one relates to classic rock a little more, seeing as i mentioned bands and songs, and you mentioned teeth and freezing gums. i dont mind people/myself getting off topic, but at least make it music related in some way.
Ahh, bending the rules I see :thumb: . And please, no need to tell me I "Should know better" while repping me. |
Was Dave Gilmour Syd Barrett's replacement in Pink Floyd or was he already a member before Syd left?
|
You put me in my place
.
I wasn't aware you needed to be put in your place and I wasn't going to bother disrupting the flow of conversation. Hellos to you too :p. Did somebody put a lit match in your *** when you were sleeping or something? that pissed me off, it would piss anyone off  :( |
They brought him in for awhlie to cover for Syd when he messed up, so technically they were both in the band at one point, but he wasn't always in from the beginning. When Syd got too messed up to handle, they just kicked him out and kept Gilmour in.

Hellos to you too :p
Here, let us all take it this way. Don't bitch to me about spam! I bought: CCR - Willy & The Poor Boys Polyphonic Spree - The Beginning Stages of... Fugazi - Repeater Woodstock, I finally found Jeff Beck - Truth. Tell me when you want me to send it to you. :) |
