I have a question and i dont feel like making a whole thread devoted to it. What are some bands that are the bridge between 80s emo and present emo. They sound similar but what band or bands bent the genre to make it sound more like todays emo. If this makes any sense at all. Pluss i probably listen to these bands that youll say and I wont realize because i dont know the time frame of a lot of bands.
|
i wouldn't say there's one band.
it's an overall infiltration of the original genre by other genres i guess sorta. like it started out one way and more bands warped it a little until it finally ends up where we are at now |

the nineties were filled with awesome bands.
i especially like the late nineties |

nation of ulysess
clikatat ikatowi heroin angel hair you and i the list is enormous i don't feel like finding every nineties emo band i know of because that would be stupid. basically if you listen to a band that doesn't have that eighties sound, and isn't around anymore / has a discography out, it is probably from the nineties. i will not be held responsible for broken up 00's bands |
also there are lists on the first page, they are decent lists.
kind of sparce but they should answer your question well enough ITS THE ORCHESTRATION OF A NEW LANGUAGE SPOKEN THROUGH SYMBOLS NOT TO BE INTERPRETED. probably one of my favorite albums. |
****ing thundering wicked loud here.

It's so humid outside that my glasses fog up.
|
same here sometimes. i hate that so much.
np ten songs i hate myself may be over the top and use mega cliches but i love it and this is one of my favorite albums. i feel like thinking of my top ten albums but it would be too hard to do it intergenre-wise. |
Waaaay too hard to think up a top-ten man.
That's a good album though, I used to listen to it a lot back in the day. |
i haven't listened to it in a while. it still owns as much as it did last time i listened.
|
I haven't been in the mood for them in a while.
|
some albums are like kind of perfect in a way. like the songs are all cohesive.
the songs all fit together and as a whole the album is awesome. this album is like that to me also i think departures and landfalls is like that. and fabulous muscles. and as we quietly burn a hole into... and red house painters I actually i feel like i could make a top ten albums pretty easily maybe. i would feel like it wouldn't give all the bands i love a spot though which is unfortunate and maybe a reason not to do something so limited. edit: this post feels like it would be the introduction to some cheesily written album review |
the pine's s/t cd is one of those paper cases and like the insert is too large for the case but they still fit it in and it is kind of stuck inside the little like slip that holds the cd.
it kind of is pissing me off but not that much because this album owns really hard, hard enough to keep me from getting pissed off, out of sheer enjoyment. |
Doomriders are so \m/ \m/

Best examples I can think of would be Swing Kids and Heroin. |
