Why is 'Hallowed by thy Name' on 'Number of the Beast' so slow.

Lord Abortion 11-05-2005 01:15 PM
Why is 'Hallowed by thy Name' on 'Number of the Beast' so slow.
Because it's so frenetic live, you just think that.

Josh 11-05-2005 01:15 PM

it's not really that slow, they do it that speed live still, i think it's just that Nicko drums it differently to how Clive did.

Doctor Night 11-05-2005 02:11 PM

It's better when it's faster.

ashman 11-05-2005 02:25 PM

Nicko likes to play 'fast' :D

Lord Abortion 11-05-2005 03:31 PM

I got the first download...

I'm currently listening to Nicko attempting desperately not to swear on the tape.

YDload 11-05-2005 03:36 PM

What other songs are improved drastically when played live? I know 2 Minutes to Midnight is a lot more energetic, for one.

Lord Abortion 11-05-2005 03:39 PM

Journeyman is fantastic.

"they fiddled around all the twiddly knobs and that...

ON THE DESK! ON THE DESK!"

Doctor Night 11-05-2005 05:09 PM

I also never knew that there was a drummer before Nicko, just proves how little I know about Iron Maiden, I need to buy Dance of Death

Fear of the Dark and Hallowed Be Thy Name I'd have to say. When you get the crowd singing along with the guitar melodies it's incredible. But Maiden manage to make everything sound awesome live.

Six Foot Revolver 11-05-2005 05:44 PM

Fear of the Dark is definately way better live. The version on Rock in Rio is the best I have heard by far.

the_uber_penguin 11-05-2005 05:46 PM

I noticed watching the RiR DVD:

Why is it that on HBTN, instead of splitting the guitar up between the three guitarists (which would make sense), Davey fingerpicks the entire thing?

i really love the RIR version, but, for some reason i like the DOTR version even better......i think its becasue how bruce sings it on DOTR , he has like this evil laugh in it, which for me, makes all the better
