Pretty similar to mine. I kept mine a bit shorter just because all of the songs I picked were very long (especially Black Rose Immortal). I can hardly complain with your list though. It's good that you picked plenty of BWP, but I don't see anything off of Deliverance:(
I had Deliverance in there, but I removed it along with some other songs cos my list was so big. :(

lol

i like lamb of god to...well to some extent. their just above ur average crap metal band. i find their songs repetitive. a lot of the people went to see lamb of god more than opeth. it was that whole american metal crap hype. what happened was that a 1 hour rain delay put the show behind. it was right after gwar. but clutch got a fll set then opeth was next. they got screwed and thats when lamb of god came on. it was 12am by then. i don't understand why opeth was headlining. if it was me opeth would headline a tour that included metallica. they are just superior

wasn't** sorry bad habit of not reviewing my messages
Which one's better, My Arms, Your Hearse or Blackwaterpark? I actually sat here for like 5 minutes debating and I can't pick. They both have so much good songs on them.
MAYH, every time.

Epicurus 04-26-2006 06:37 AM

Seeing them tomorrow night!

penelope weird hands 04-26-2006 06:47 AM

^Have fun, champ! :thumb:

I saw them on the 20th, excellent stuff.
However, they seem to be playing the exact same setlist throughout Australia.
Travel back a couple of pages if you want to see said setlist.

MAYH is very swiftly becoming my favourite album, and to those who mentioned before that the Morningrise to My Arms, Your Hearse transition was their most different(and fruitful), I completely agree.
It's a very definitive album for them and I think Opeth really discovered the direction and style they wished to take.
It goes without saying that I am extremely glad they made such decisions to not clone dual guitar/melody slutting.

NP~ When @!@@!

JamJar 04-26-2006 08:54 AM

MAYH is also swiftly becoming my favourite album.

Shadius 04-26-2006 09:12 AM

I love how Mikael thought MAYH was **** after they recorded it, then he really got into the style.

The Funeral Portrait, Moonlapse Vertigo and By The Pain I See In Others ftw for most underrated Opeth songs.
They are amazing!!
But, in particular The Funeral Portrait.
That has some of the best riffs/solos/vocals I've ever heard.
I would cause genocide to see that live.

Any thoughts(on most underrated)?

Drone 04-26-2006 11:48 AM

I definitely agree with your choices.

I would also say the following:

Wreath
Master's Apprentices
The Night and the Silent Water
Nectar

Jude 04-26-2006 12:08 PM

Underrated?

WHITE CLUSTER all the way man.

JamJar 04-26-2006 01:02 PM

I would say Moonlapse Vertigo and White Cluster would be the most.

Crysiss 04-26-2006 01:39 PM

Wheres the love for Morningrise and Orchid:p

EDIT: Didnt read drones post.

gmoneyguy 04-26-2006 02:18 PM

I love how they have one part in In the Pain I See in Others thats sounds kind of like demented circus music.

Crysiss 04-26-2006 02:25 PM

I know man. I was smoking weed one time with my friends, we were all high and my friend is like "Man i hear like....a clown song or something"

Its funny you say that.

gmoneyguy 04-26-2006 02:25 PM

I love it, I actually was listening to it on the way home from school.

Morningrise has plenty of love, I think. Even Mikael said on the documentary that most Opeth fans find it to be their best album.

Orchid is still good, but it's just a lesser version of MR.

 That part does sound like a circus. It's awesomely creepy though, especially with the lyrics.

And that reminds me, BTPISIO is another HIGHLY underrated song. Probably my second favorite off Deliverance after the title track. In fact maybe my first favorite.

Morningrise does have lots of love. Even if the songs are just a bunch of parts all thrown together, the parts are too incredible not to love. I think it's the acoustic parts that really make that album, too, especially Black Rose Immortal. That song has a bunch of Opeth's very best acoustic parts ever.

Black Rose Immortal is truly an amazing song, even though it's basically several different songs thrown under one title.

But still, Morningrise wouldn't be nearly as amazing if it wasn't for "To Bid You Farewell", the best song on the album and Opeth's 2nd best song ever (IMO). You can't beat the very chilled out jamming the band does until the very depressing and beautiful guitars at 7:06. It's pure musical bliss.

I'll pretend I didn't hear that. :p

Morningrise is great, but it has some severe flaws in my eyes. Black Rose Immortal has to be one of my least favorite Opeth songs, despite some really sweet parts.

Do you just not like it because of the length, or are there actual musical parts that you don't like?

By the way, nice to see you back. Haven't seen you posting in a while.

I agree with this.

stinger 04-26-2006 05:40 PM

i have bought every opeth album from blackwater park onwards, and iv been into them since 2002 (im guessing, i cant really remember when BWP came out) i'v also 'aquired' *wink wink nudge nudge* the rest, i think im also going to buy still life aswell, but iv not really listened to the rest enough to warrent me buying them yet, the slightly poorer production quality compared to the newer stuff really throws me off, but give it time, and i can probably see me buying them all, (and who says internet piracy damages record sales)

my favourite song is probably really predictable, but its bleak. basically i think the whole of blackwater park is amazing

gmoneyguy 04-26-2006 05:41 PM

Normally people buy the albums with out really knowing what it is going to sound like.

Crysiss 04-26-2006 06:56 PM

I never see a problem with poor production, I fall in love with the music:)

Shattered_Future 04-26-2006 06:57 PM

Opeth's production doesn't really bother me, except for the bass tone on Morningrise. It sounds really, unbelievably crappy...which is a shame, since the basslines are so damn good.

Some bands just have production that makes their music completely unlistenable though.

The vocalist sounds identical to Mikael. I have heard the cleans though.

EDIT: It cuts off right where he starts to sing the "Soothing Trance" part.

Agreed 9 trillion percent. FINALLY someone else who thinks the same.

Elmo McCheese 04-26-2006 07:42 PM

Something I've noticed with production is that whenever Martin Lopez does straight 16ths or triplets on double bass, it often sounds pretty sloppy. Maybe it's just me.

UpperDecker 04-26-2006 11:27 PM

I watched Lamentations again today and I really think they should have played Demon of the Fall instead of A Fair Judgement. The whole croud was screaming for it, it just would have made the ending alot better.
