So my girlfriend told me last night that she wants to get into some new music (finally!). I asked her what she wants in general, and she said songs that are inspirational and not too slow.

Hmm...so far I've got Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life.
Arcade Fire - Wake Up
Weezer - Across the Sea
Pumpkins - Stand inside your love (alot of machina has an inspirational like tone to it.)

Public transportation is neat. I like taking the lightrail into town sometimes because it's interesting people watchin'. But yeah, cars are nice, too.
A story can just as easily be done in serial form though, from issue to issue. Like Zappa said, many of those that are called graphic novels are really just collected editions of former serials.
A lot aren't, though. It's a big creative difference to make a comic script set for 28 pages each month compared to making something that has no set pages, just a script that an artist is going to work through without break. Neither process is more artistically valid than the other, nor is either easier I'd say, it's just a different way of doing something. Actually, doing a monthy is probably a lot harder, now that I think about it.

I think the whole business thing plays into it as well, at least right now. A lot of casual readers don't want to buy single issues if they know that it will be re-released as a collection. Used to be you could make a dozen copies of the same issue because collectors would sop 'em up. Still works for bigger titles but not so much as in the mid-90's. But right now, that's the market a lot of publishers are aiming for, casual readers that is.

Public trans only works in small crowded areas. Where I live its hell to take the bus.

ATM 10-02-2005 04:09 PM

Guess who came into my work on Friday?

Anxious 10-02-2005 04:10 PM

Ian MacKaye is probably the fifth-best rock vocalist named Ian that there is.

Can anybody tell what this is and why they have the nerve to charge 40 bucks for it?

Haze 10-03-2005 03:14 AM

Man, I've heard 2 songs from The Strokes' new album, and they're so bloody good. Just enough of a change in sound to make them fresh as a febreze sandwich.

The other night me and my friend were down by the beach, waiting for his dad to come pick us up. It was about 11:30, and the pub had just closed. Some drunk people wandering past, two boys walked past and one of them staring at me straight in the eyes. He had two bottles of wine, one in each hand.

He walked on a little further down the road, turned around and shouted at me and said "OI YOU, DO YOU WANT SOME" . I replied "No sorry, i'm not gay"

I thought the guy was gonna punch me and my friend for laughing like girls.

AOL has downgraded my connection to 128kbps from 2MB because I can't switch to the 'new improved network' that they're making AOL users switch to. My uncle has just spent the best part of 4 hours trying to make the new modem drivers compatible with my modem but it's not happening. My uncle had to buy a new modem because he had the same problem.

Stupid internets.

Little Man being Erased 10-03-2005 03:50 PM

Nah, just kidding. I work at a music shop.

I didn't have the balls to say anything.

Bartender 10-03-2005 04:49 PM

You should have followed him around, saying "You're Ian Mackaye." at every given opportunity.

ATM 10-03-2005 04:50 PM

I did, however, go up to Biz Markie and shake his hand.
I went to work this morning.
I went to school today.

Hilarity ensued.

ATM 10-03-2005 05:02 PM

I went to work today.

Then I found out I have tomorow off because it's a Jewish holiday.

Little Man being Erased 10-03-2005 05:07 PM

I've got another 7 hours of work to go today. How fun.
