This is actually the only album of his that I like. The Black Album has some good singles but The Blueprint is so overrated it hurts.

Little Man being Erased 08-29-2006 11:43 PM

I think I'll probably like The Black Album, since I like DJ Dangermouse's The Grey Album, but I might start with Reasonable Doubt.

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 11:55 PM

I used to have that album on cassette. I don't know where its gone.

ATM 08-29-2006 11:59 PM

Blueprint is seriously overrated.

I have a soft spot for Volume 2 Hard Knock Life because it was one of my first albums.

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes

Kyle 08-30-2006 05:58 AM

I'm all over this Silversun Pickups album, I think I've found my favorite new band.

br3ad_man 08-30-2006 06:25 AM

I'm digging a local 'noisecore' band called Naked Burn. Their vocalist is awesome.

The Mr T Experience.

Interstate 08-30-2006 12:47 PM
Reasonable Doubt is definitely starting to blow my mind. I remember when I felt this way about Midnight Marauders and played nothing but that album for like a week straight.
Is that the album with Biggie guesting? Cos if it is, that album owns so hard.

The Bronx - S/T
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Big L - Lifestyles Ov Da Poor & Dangerous

sketchyjoe 08-30-2006 01:11 PM

The Thermals

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:17 PM

Six Organs of Admittance - Compathia

Totally his best.

mr_jackalope 08-30-2006 01:19 PM

The first half of The Sun Awakens is close for me.

mr_jackalope 08-30-2006 01:19 PM

And I've been rocking to a Mission of Burma live show for the past lil bit.

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:27 PM
The first half of The Sun Awakens is close for me.
Weird, the production on that album is too fancy for him.

knox 08-30-2006 01:32 PM

I've been digging out my old Nirvana collection and I can't stop listening to it

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:36 PM

^ I stopped listening to it three years ago.

Sam Cooke - Sam Cooke at the Copa Live
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It in People

YDload 08-30-2006 03:01 PM

My Morning Jacket- Z

it's a little bombastic and Radiohead-y in some places, but there's a lot of different stuff going on so I can't dislike the whole thing

also why does "Off The Record" sample the theme song from Hawaii Five-O? you know what riff i'm talking about.

edit: the guitar solos in "Lay Low" = hell yeah

Bukowski 08-30-2006 04:28 PM

Nation of Ulysses - 13 Point Program...

Channel One Ulysses is one of the best things ever.

Zappa 08-30-2006 04:35 PM

So the new Wire 1977-1979 box set came in the mail from England today, but I'm in the middle of moving, so all my stereo stuff is torn down. But I assure you, that's what I'd be digging.

asymm 08-30-2006 05:01 PM

Nas - Illmatic

Rejd 08-30-2006 05:06 PM

Will Oldham - Joya

Tore Elgarøy - The Sound of the Sun

Zebra 08-30-2006 07:14 PM

Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique

This is a great album but I dont like it as much as others.

Eliminator 08-30-2006 07:15 PM

It's my favorite hip-hop album.

Tangy zizzle 08-30-2006 07:22 PM

The Knife - Silent Shout

Im the last person to hear this, huh?

Zappa 08-30-2006 08:13 PM

Nope.

Zmev 08-30-2006 08:15 PM

Its like two weird kids messing around on garageband

Little Man being Erased 08-30-2006 08:24 PM

I've heard fuck all albums released this year. And that isn't one of them.

Dog 08-30-2006 08:45 PM

The Residents - Not Available

so good.

Little Man being Erased 08-30-2006 08:51 PM

The Presets - Beams

A handful of great songs, and the rest are fairly average. Good album overall.

Zappa 08-30-2006 11:11 PM

Oh geeze, I am listening to Chairs Missing from that Wire box set, and the new remastering is so much different, right off the bat. Will take getting used to, but I think I like it.

mr_jackalope 08-30-2006 11:14 PM
I've heard fuck all albums released this year. And that isn't one of them.
Get on it, it's awesome.

Zappa what's different about the master?

Zappa 08-30-2006 11:17 PM

New things pop out. Like backup vocals in "Men Second" and the phasing on the bass guitar right at the start of the album is shockingly more dramatic.

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 12:03 AM

What versions did you have originally?

Zappa 08-31-2006 12:19 AM

EMI bonus tracks for Chairs Missing.

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 12:41 AM

I guess that's the same version I have then. Mine came in the box set thing with the three albums. I wouldn't have thought there would be much difference between that and this new box set, but I guess I was wrong, huh?

Interstate 08-31-2006 05:31 AM
