The two girls (Amy was one of them and....her best friend was the other...made things weird for a while) were the ones pushing it.
This is an obvious case of philosophical differences.
Heh, well I doubt that'll ever be an issue for Gaby and I, at the least. I can't see her pushing for something like that either. We're both possessive :p Hehe, probably. I guess despite my best efforts not all of my religious upbringing was washed away when I became Atheist. Jake: Haha, AP Chem...oh man, what a bad class :( Nope, I'm too unfunny :( Night Alex. |
Does anyone else ever sit and think up little bits that would go great as part of a stand up routine?
Random, I apologize NP: dredg - Sorry, But It's Over
Do it all the time for the improv troupe, kind of. It's interesting to try to write opening monologues and things. I can imagine it's not hard to write a routine (EDIT: in terms of structure - like an outline), but finding your material is :) |
Moses- Replied twice to your message. :)
I replied back. |
When I was in High School I had 43% average at one point, once my teacher called my parents I brought it up to an 80.

It's probably my favorite class. Today we did a lab on the copper process. It was pretty wicked. I have the same deal on the topic of being stuck with a slightly Christian mindset. Not on that case necesarilly, but at other times, I know how you feel. :p
Do it all the time for the improv troupe, kind of. It's interesting to try to write opening monologues and things. Me and 4 of my man friends got back from KFC, and we had a little time to kill, so we just hung out in my friend's car. There was a silence in the conversation, and this thought just popped into my mind. "You know James? How all the girls are like 'OMG OMG OMG he's so hot, and I hear he's huge. ENOURMOUS!! OMG OMG OMG' and so on. Well, do you ever just want to see it? See what all the hype is about?" Then I just kind of kept saying crap about that. It didn't feel gay at the time. :( Now that I'm rehashing it, wow, that's embarrasing. |
I couldn't imagine losing my genitalia, it's like a part of me. That would suck sooo bad.
Seriously though, that would blow balls. (punzorz) I stopped paying attention in AP Chem the third day of school. My teacher is still nice enough to give me C's and B's. |
I find myself questioning what is moral. Morality is a cultural thing and I always question why we should follow what our culture says is right.

Now that you mention it, I've done that before. I've also enjoyed retelling some crazy/humorous stuff that has happened to me (that's half the fun of going to parties) and spicing it up, which I guess is kind of like the basis for stand up. Or something. |
I find myself questioning what is moral. Morality is a cultural thing and I always question why we should follow what our culture says is right.
Questioning authority is immoral. Now burn in the pits of hell. I've been over this discussion in the past but I really don't understand Atheism. I know what it's about, I just don't understand how there can't be any kind of mysticism in the world. I like to believe that there's more than just the mundane. |

Its more of "Why does society say that blah blah blah is right and yadda yadda yadda is wrong?" |
I've narrowed my truth down to these two ideas;
a) A hodgepodge of ideas from different religions. (The correct combination unbeknownst to us all, which really puts a dampener on this idea) b) We are here as part of a scientific anomile, so to speak. I think it is impossible that we are the only place life exists. There is estimated at over a mole of stars in the known universe, so the chance that we are the only planet with life is very slim. Whoa, tangent. I'm gonna get some cereal, then I'm off to bed. See you all. |

Only science I've ever really enjoyed was Physics. Haha, yeah, I know I'm in the minority on that stance, but oh well. I was raised loyal, and add that to my inability to get over things (and people) and *shrug*
I find myself questioning what is moral. Morality is a cultural thing and I always question why we should follow what our culture says is right.
I don't believe anything traditionally considered wrong is inherently so. In fact one of the few if only things I have any sort of issue with is cheating (in a relationship). So, eh. That said, I still obey most the traditional morals of society. My arguement is what makes a painting art rather than just a bunch of paint, or what is love? I just don't understand it so I'd like to keep some kind of hope for explanation. There's no real evidence of evolution either. I guess religion isn't somthing I'd like talking about.
its not a question of authority, nor an act of rebellion.
Jeez now I feel like a bad guy.
"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" - Bush Administration Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more
Why? Exactly, in the end there's no proper evidence to either side so it comes down to a matter of choice. Hahaha Haddaway.
My arguement is what makes a painting art rather than just a bunch of paint, or what is love? I just don't understand it so I'd like to keep some kind of hope for explanation. Believe me, I've been through the fullest stretch of feelings you can, but I don't see that as evidence of any higher being. I don't know. The basic idea of it just seems ridiculous to me and, push come to shove, if I am eternally damned for believing that way...that's not the kind of god I'd ever worship anyways. |

I am a very religious person, but there is so much evidence for evolution out there that it is mindblowing. I believe science and religion can, should, and must be reconcilable :) |

You guys are all like...morally righteous and "nice guys" and stuff like that, it makes me look like a scumbag for some reason. Hey, well I figure either he's some uptight bitch or some chill dude if he actually exists. So if he's chill he'll let it slide, if not, I don't want to spend eternity with him anyways. Simple enough. Ray: Nah, I may be a "good kid" but I'd never judge someone a lesser person because they're not in the traditional sense of the word.
There are Christian nuts who will give someone 6 million dollars for proof of evolution or somthing like that.
Proof is unfortunately always subjective to a degree. For instance, though we know gravity "exists" we can't explain how. Most of the people doing that sort of challenge demand that sort of irrefutable proof that no one has. But you don't see people questioing the existence of gravity. |
i would give someone 6 million dollars if they had sufficient proof for evolution or creationism either way. then, this silly debate and endless arguing b/w the two sides would stop.
|
You guys are all like...morally righteous and "nice guys" and stuff like that, it makes me look like a scumbag for some reason.
Fair enough.
I wouldn't say that.... I have been agnostic since I forever basically. When I was child and went to church I had no concept of god really was. |
i would give someone 6 million dollars if they had sufficient proof for evolution or creationism either way. then, this silly debate and endless arguing b/w the two sides would stop.
There has been more than enough proof for evolution's validity for the last 20 years and the mountain of evidence only gets bigger and bigger :-) I don't think you have 6 mill :-P |

It's not an arguement/debate yet. Just discussion so far. I'd hate for it to get into an arguement though because even though I don't accept Atheism in my mind, I'm not gonna stop anyone else from believeing what they want to believe nor am I going to try to prove their way of life is bogus. |
Society is authority in that sense.
I really question why does society say it and not the opposite. |
I really question why does society say it and not the opposite.
Indoctrination, conformity, standards, precedent, etc... And for some of the original reasons, well, youd be surprised about the original reasons we do some of the things we do. |
You've sais this twice with no validity.
i didn't know there was anyone dumb enough to disagree |
Indoctrination, conformity, standards, precedent, etc...
You've sais this twice with no validity.
I didn't know scientific tests provide no validity. |
