...who??? |
oh.dear.god.
You've never heard of Bill Bailey? |
If he's not in the UK, it's at least understandable, if not forgiveable.
|
My dad, mom and sister have all gone. It's tradition I suppose. Can;t get a real job, but I want to.
So? |
So?
Why pay upwards of $30k for something you won't use? |
Why pay upwards of $30k for something you won't use?
It's worth paying it if you do plan on using it though. |
Because it might be fun. Rather than being useful in getting specific jobs, it could just be enjoyable, and could help him enjoy himself later in life. I'm taking a philosophy degree at the moment - other than teach philosophy, could you tell me what am I going to do with it? Because I don't know.

Of course, that's why I said for the most part. But there are few good applications for a music degree, and every pro musician I know well says it was not worth the investment. If you are going to teach though, I am sure it is great. |

It can help you get into most grad programs. Music is too specific to continue your education in any field but music. I have just heard bad things about music school degrees from people who have done it. |

Indeed, there aren't a whole range of options to apply a music degree to, other than music. And screw teaching, I could not stand it. |

And screw teaching, I could not stand it.
It is the most common use for a music degree. A few others being music therapy or symphonic performance. |
I could always teach but I'm pretty capable and I'll probably see if a double major is at all possible. Of course, the other thing I'd want to do is work with films which is super competitive.
I'd probably go into teaching but it would be a good way to advertise yourself as a studio musician. |

Double majoring with a music degree is almost impossible, forewarning. As an engineer, if I double majored in music and engineering, I would be lucky to finish in 7 years, more realistically 8-10. Most people don't even get them in under four years at my school. Meh, those people won't give a crap as long as you perform well. |

Don't really know what you mean by grad programs :) Anyway, I just meant that most of the time I'd rather do something enjoyable than useful. |

Graduate degrees. PhD, MD, MS, MBA, etc... Who wouldn't? But I can't afford to pay to do stuff I like for my whole life, and that is essentially what you do with a music degree. |
Essay is 330 words and counting. Stupid essay
|
How long does it have to be?

Not advocating complete hedonism. |
