By new age rock do you mean bands like creed, incubis (sp?) and all that? Those bands sound really bland to me, no attitude or anything, i dunno.

DVG.
I just heard that Cream was getting back together and playing the Royal Albert Hall after New Years, but its just one gig :(

If they tour US, I will be there.....the only one my age, since most high schoolers are noobish Zeppelin only lovers.
i would cream my pants! unfortunatly i wouldnt ever see their show.

im a highschooler and im not a zeppelin only type of guy.

Woodstock 11-18-2004 02:08 PM
i love lots of bands, but it seems that this forum is full of people who i assume are middle aged men who are hardout into bands like led zeppelin and the like who were popular many years ago. are there any people in this forum that are into new age rock?
I doubt there is one middle aged person in this thread, hopefully on this website. No, I really dont like new age rock, but then again, I dont know what bands you're specifying.

With The Dead, and Joplin in Canada? I know what you're talking about but I don't know the name.

slowhand 11-18-2004 04:21 PM

Cream is getting together?!

You gotta be ****ting me!!! ****... I want to go...

I think I'm gonna cry.........

-Edit

After reading of the possible Cream reunion, I had to search some Cream pages, they had to have something, this is what I found.

"Rumour has it that Cream are reforming for a week-long residency at London's Royal Albert Hall next year (2005) - the same venue where the band played their last gig on November 26, 1968.
Eric, Jack and Ginger are eager to treat fans to a series of nostalgic performances and will start rehearsals months before they take the stage.
A source close to the band says, "Cream are getting back together for a week of shows at the Royal Albert Hall next spring.
The band plan on rehearsing early in the new year. No further plans have been made at this stage."

Rumours of a Cream reunion have abounded for decades, more wishful thinking than anything else!
Ginger has admitted, in the past, that he was interested in a reunion simply because he could have used the money. But, at this point, each of the players seem to have come to terms with the past and are ready to reunite, albeit briefly! My only request, play Spoonful!

Let's also pray that the suits are in on this so that Cream fans won't have to scrounge around for bootlegs of the performance!"

Spring Break to England!!

BludgeonySteve 11-18-2004 05:14 PM

I'd like to go to that. But my dad would just say that they are old, burned out and will suck as he usually does.

Classic stuff

Aw man to be born in the 1956 and to be living in the 70's. I would hate it though because it would end and I would kill myself and not be in the 70's, that's why I'm glad I was born in the early 80's to dream about it, but my culture sucks and isn't entertaining at all with nothing that will last. I blame republicans, naw I just say that so all you politic freaks will lash out at me and throw a hissy fit.
BLEH!

Cream would be a great time to see again, but 80 bucks for a Rush concert? Wow, I had no idea. I saw Rush once with AC/DC as the opening act. 6 hours of live music. But I think the tickets were about 30 bucks and we were down front and center in the crowd. I'm gonna have to get out more I guess...haha

Badmoon 11-18-2004 06:45 PM

^Yeah, $80 is crazy.

Well, here's a topic. Who do you believe is the most important member of Cream, or your favorite?

I couldn't decide who is my favorite, but I believe Jack Bruce is certainly the most important. He did most the writing, sang, and led the band with his lead bass lines.

jhuff15 11-18-2004 06:45 PM

I am probably the only one that old in this forum. The 70's were great for music but you had to look really hard to find them. In the early 70's we did not even have FM radio stations or stereo systems in the cars. Only AM stations and if you liked it loud, you mounted 2 speakers inside the car. So being born in the 80's - you have a hugh advantage as far as technology goes. I now get Sirius radio that I can push through my bass amp and play along now. That's a blast for me these days, classic rock and my bass. I can only hope that the quality of rock will climb from younger persons now to tribute the 70's rock. Thanks for the trip backwards...

jhuff15 11-18-2004 06:53 PM

I think you're right

It seems to trend like that, one or two members are the leads and the others in the band are just da** great followers. There are many exceptions to that if you count The Eagles, Zepplin, ELP, you know the super bands of the time...

The guitar for Cream was the driving force (that and the overall kickassness) so i'll say Clapton.

I knew you would say Jack Bruce :)

The guitar playing and drumming are usually connected through Bruce's playing. But I guess it's all opinion.

P.S. I believe that almost any guitar player could have done what Clapton did with Cream. There was nothing really unique he was bringing to the table. While during that time, Bruce pretty much invented lead bass lines, and Ginger Baker's double bass skills, and overall style were doing soo much.

lunch998 11-18-2004 07:58 PM

Because bass is such a perfect link from drums to guitar, you can usually argue that a band with a great bassist (i.e. Bruce) has bass as their most important part. I'd probably agree about Cream in this case, because Bruce did so much for them.

Woodstock 11-18-2004 07:59 PM

Just learned all of Black Water on guitar.

Yes, but it's rare that a bassist is so diverse, that he goes and connect with both the guitar and drum.
Yes, but it's rare that a bassist is so diverse, that he goes and connect with both the guitar and drum.
Yea unfortunately it is rare. Bruce did it well though, so that's why I'm agreeing with you.

RockAndRoll 11-18-2004 09:12 PM

I think I might agree with Badmoon about Jack.

But I disagree with the statement that any guitarist could've done what Clapton did with Cream.

Badmoon 11-18-2004 09:18 PM

Well, maybe. But he would surely be the player to boot in that group, if anyone.

RockAndRoll 11-18-2004 09:30 PM
Well, maybe. But he would surely be the player to boot in that group, if anyone.
I don't really think you could boot anyone to be completely honest.

Seafroggys 11-19-2004 12:13 AM

Hmmm, has anyone seen the Cream Finale video? Badly filmed, but good music nevertheless (they always showed Bruce during Clapton's 5 minute solos, and like a short clip of Clapton's upper body, not even showing much of his guitar).

Anyways, the date of that concert is my birthday (November 26). I'm gonna turn 18, wohoo!

Badmoon 11-19-2004 07:27 AM

Yea, I've seen it. They show it on TV occasionally. It's interesting, but I wish it had more interviews.

I paid $80 Canadian to see Rush this summer. It was worth it.
