I know they're not technically classic rock, but they have a good sound, and I don't really know how to classify them at all so... what does everyone think of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones? Unbelievably talented, in my opinion. Victor Wooten does way better with them than when he's solo.
well i haven't heard a lot from them. but there's some great bass playing from what iv'e heard. what kind of music do they play? i always thought it was some form of jazz, but i've only heard a few somes.

Yeah, The Flecktone play around with music a lot. At times, Bela and the rest will play Celtic Folk, Progressive Bluegrass, and usually certain types of Jazz. The music is very interesting. Each musician has a load of talent, and it's quite easy to see. They are also fantastic to see live.

DeusExMachina 12-25-2004 01:29 PM

Bela recently released the first ever classical banjo album. I really want to pick it up. Hey Badmoon, what do you think of that Jack Johnson CD? I really love his stuff. Do you have On and On?

BillCosby 12-25-2004 02:09 PM

I've watched some of it, it's good.

But seeing it live was better. :D
I'm really into Polyphonic Spree now. They are a fantastic and original group.
Polyphonic Spree is one wierd band.

But I dig wierd bands, so they're good in my book. I was looking forward to seeing them at Lollapalooza '04 until the whole thing collapsed.

BillCosby 12-25-2004 04:04 PM

If you've listened to it yet, how's the Nas album?

lunch998 12-25-2004 04:04 PM

Ho Ho Ho. Merry Everyone.

I the only CD's I got were the LZ complete studio recordings, but I have plenty of money and a best buy gift card, so I'll post the results of my CD shopping spree after I do that.

Me too, I also really wanted to see The Flaming Lips and String Cheese, but :(. They have a very unique sound, and I just love it all.

I prefer Bela's Bluegrass releases with Sam Bush, Tony Rice, and such. And as of now, I am a bigger fan of On and On, opposed to Brushfire Fairytales. But that may change :).

I had another family party, and I just got Phish bootlegs from Coventry (There last show) and the show they played with Jay Z.

I'll try to get them out to all of you eventually.

I wanted to see Sonic Youth (most of all; I was pissed when Lollapalooza went down but I saw them at Avalon last August when they launched a US tour after Lollapalooza was cancelled) and the Flaming Lips as well as the Spree.

I have On and On and Brushfire Fairytales. They're both really good, its impossible for me to pick my fave. On and On was my favorite, but BF will really grow on you. Did for me, at least.

BludgeonySteve 12-25-2004 04:46 PM

To everyone: nice albums :thumb:. I already sort of posted my jew christmas presents so you all know mine ;).

Badmoon 12-25-2004 04:51 PM

Are you jewish, or are you just screwing around. Not that it really matters.

lunch998 12-25-2004 04:53 PM
Are you jewish, or are you just screwing around. Not that it really matters.
I think he's actually Jewish.

BludgeonySteve 12-25-2004 04:55 PM
Are you jewish, or are you just screwing around. Not that it really matters.
Yes but I still celebrate christmas. Same god, right?

*no christmas presents though :(. I'd rather get them all at once*

DeusExMachina 12-25-2004 04:59 PM

I celebrate christmas and hannukah, because my dad is Jewish and my mom was raised catholic. However, I don't get double presents. I get one christmas present early (on the first day of hannukah.) I don't even consider christmas a religious holiday, its more just a fun happy family holiday.

Illmatic 12-25-2004 05:00 PM
I don't even consider christmas a religious holiday
Very few people do.

Badmoon 12-25-2004 05:01 PM

^I believe you are actually and officially catholic, and Rock your thoughts on Christmas are incorrect. It's not Godmas. Notice the Christ?

BludgeonySteve 12-25-2004 05:02 PM

eh, my parents celebrate everything. I just kind of celebrate on the side because i'm expected to :p

I'm not about to question their motives either.

Badmoon 12-25-2004 05:05 PM

Why'd ya kill Jesus?

j/k

I got a microphone too, I'm going to recorded the Badmoon breakdown.

BludgeonySteve 12-25-2004 05:06 PM

Badmoon 12-25-2004 05:06 PM

Illmatic 12-25-2004 05:07 PM

BludgeonySteve 12-25-2004 05:08 PM

Badmoon 12-25-2004 05:13 PM

Woodstock 12-25-2004 05:27 PM

I've been wanting Jeff Beck-Truth. I even requested it in the AIM Trading thread.

So if anyone has it........

Badmoon 12-25-2004 05:56 PM

Question:

1.) Does anyone know where a good turtorial for recording music online is? Or could anyone teach me how?

2.) What would be a good easy system to record with? Preferably downloadable.

Go!

Hobopak117 12-25-2004 06:38 PM

Sweet

Finally there is a thread on classic rock im tired of this new crap, its not even worth listening to. THe bands of the 60's and 70's created rock and now its dead.I wanna quote THe Doors for a second here,"Rock is dead" now its all about popularity. Of ur popular then people will love thats bull****. I hate bands these days . Bands like like the beatles, stones, velvet underground, jefferson airplane floyd those are the bads that created rock. Whats up with these new bands today thay have no meaning in their ****ing songs. These dumbases need to listen to "The End" or "Let it Be". Have u guys heard of the band The Doors of the 21st century they suck compared to the original doors. Its cool and all Ray M. and Robby K. are trying tto jam asgain but they need to stop singing doors songs , leave them alone man there classics.
