And it's for nostalgia purposes, ya jerk.
Oh ok. I take everything I said back, in that case.
Ughhh, I hate giving speeches/presentations.

Anyone with me on this?
Ugh, same here. Social anxiety++

ATM 09-27-2005 05:06 PM

My face gets bright red and I always start drumming on the table.

Glitterati 09-27-2005 05:37 PM

I saw a license plate today that said HXC.

I briefly smiled.

pikester 09-27-2005 05:55 PM

I'm leaving to see Sigur Ros in less than half an hour.

I don't know why it scares me. I'll be completely confident all day, but as soon as I have to present something I stutter and shake like a mofo. :/

It shouldn't be too hard.
Is there a ban button beside the rep button or something, or do you have to go through a whole 'nother process for that?
It's magic.

See, those were always one of those things I don't even want to think about how they work. I'm no good with technology.

Same. I didn't have it in elementary school though, there must be some psychological cause for it.

Senor_Whippy 09-28-2005 10:29 AM

I've just heard that the new Strokes album is longer than the last two put together. So that's how long....40 minutes. No really I think it's about 70 minutes or something.

Waffles?

morrissey 09-28-2005 11:43 AM

From grade 9 to grade 11 I used to laugh uncontrollably every time I got up in front of the class. A 3 minute presentation would take me 15 because I would spend 30 seconds facing the board laughing after every three words. I used to make my friends leave the room during my presentations because I figured they were the cause. It was terrible but it made for a great time.

The one good thing was that all teachers felt sorry for me... I never once got a bad mark on any of my presentations.

Suddenly in grade 12 it stopped and I haven't had the problem since.

What time tomorrow? How much are last-minute plane tickets to your college?

Bartender 09-28-2005 12:46 PM

But far more than a student who's just had to spend £80 on books can afford :(

What's he coming to speak about?

I was reading an interesting article today in the Times about how Roger Water flopped with his attempt at a classical opera. There was one paragraph that I found especially interesting though, because it's just so true:
"For one thing, rock stars who become interested in classical music are bizarrely conservative. They may play the most electrifying, guitar-thrashing, edge-of-the-seat stuff with their own bands, but when they decide to write classical music, or what they think of as classical music, they reach for a quill instead of a pen. With the notable exception of Frank Zappa, whose reams of classical music reflect his fascination with Edgard Varèse and other modernists, rock musicians seem to think that the conventions of the 19th century are classical music's current language."
Zappa 09-28-2005 01:13 PM

Zappa's orchestral and chamber work is pretty cool.
