Win A Rabbit 01-24-2008 01:14 AM

So, lame. I thought I could register now, do my high school english courses, and be done in time to do diploma exams with everyone else, and then be in college in September.

But it seems I have to wait until August to register to do my high school. :(

So instead of being in college in 9 months, it's now 21 months.

LoneStarDrummer 01-24-2008 01:19 AM

that cutco sounds just like the company that tried to get a lot of college students here to sell textbooks and study guides door to door for high school students.

i wasted a good 20 minutes on that gay *** seminar.

Win A Rabbit 01-24-2008 01:22 AM

my friend goes to timeshare seminars and gets free stuff all the time.

he has no interest in buying a timeshare but they give out some sweet stuff if you just sit and listen to them for 20 minutes.
Huh.

Anyway, Sympathetic vibrations how do you guys deal with them? I've been wracking my brain for quite some time and i've spent many hours trying to fix it but it seems as if there is nothing i can do to fix it.

And i posted this before i saw froggy's post, thanks. What i've gathered from the tuning bible is that i must change the position in the room and try to find a dead spot in the frequency of the snare so it will minimize it but i'm not really feeling like moving my drums right now.
tune up the reso and tighten the snares.

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 06:58 AM

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 09:00 AM

22 Completed Photos :) Christ knows how many left to go.

Sunshine 01-24-2008 09:01 AM

Wait, 170 is 2 gigs?
Haha, oh right nevermind.

You're using a nicer camera than I, the pictures take...more.
[My mom got me a 2 gig memory card for my digital, and it holds 649 pictures at current quality, and 900-odd if I drop it to the lowest.]

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 09:07 AM

I also dont shoot in jpeg.

I shoot in raw which is roughly 10mb per photo at ISO100.

ace76543 01-24-2008 09:21 AM

holy ****

Berk 01-24-2008 09:25 AM

What is the point in that really?

ace76543 01-24-2008 09:28 AM

better quality i would assume

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 09:39 AM
What is the point in that really?
Main advantages:

Better Quality (I.E. No compression)
Totally unedited (Unlike JPEG which your camera edits)
Totally Controllable (Can edit white balance, Exposure compensation and tint correction as well as others far more easily at a base level)
Technically uneditable (Corrections are made to a TIFF file, therefore the RAW counts as proof of copyright)

In general, RAW is the best image format. Nothing else compares.

Its like, MP3 will never compare to CD's. RAW is exactly what the sensor see's, nothing more and nothing less.

ace76543 01-24-2008 10:08 AM

do you compress it or anything after editing? that's a hell of a lot of storage space

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 10:27 AM

I keep the RAWs with the config data and a final edit in JPEG format for web use.

Heres a selection of the ones from monday night of Earth Loop Recall.

Obelisk 01-24-2008 10:53 AM

Nice shots Phil, did you have any control over the lighting?

lol

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 11:03 AM

I quite liked it with him in.

Obelisk, i had control of my camera and thats it.

Obelisk 01-24-2008 11:14 AM

That's a shame, everything but the lighting was awesome.

There's really only the one red that adds any flavour, to the one dude with the longer red hair. Do you have any lights yourself?

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 11:22 AM

Studio strobes you mean? I dont. The missus has some but i dont do any work in a studio.

Those shots were all done live at a small bar. The stage was tiny, so theres no shots of the drummer and only one of the bassist.

Obelisk 01-24-2008 11:40 AM

Ya, something like that.

UK terms... Lanterns!... really just anything you can throw a gel on.

You tend to do more outdoor natural light stuff iir(your flikr page)c?

OzzyTheDoggy 01-24-2008 11:40 AM

Wow!! Amazing pictures there Phil! You have an eye and talent for taking some truly fantastic shots.

Thanks man.

I dont have a flikr, i use Ephotozine, Myspace and Photobucket for hosting, but yeah i do prefer natural light.

That's right...

Not much caring for the band - are you getting paid for the band shots?

Drum Phil 01-24-2008 12:15 PM

Nope. I dont ask for it either.
