Also, someone reported me for advertising, and i'm not sure if it is or not. Is this considored advertising? And am I too late to edit it? http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=344181
I don't think it's strictly advertising. Probably best not to do it anyway though; do you really want all the Pit rats to join?

MAthiAS 05-23-2005 05:23 PM

Can someone recommend me some Possessed?

Bartender 05-23-2005 05:35 PM

Seven Churches.

MarkOsullivan 05-26-2005 01:53 PM

Anyone have any recommendations from John petrucci's solo album, i have some songs and they are savage

Anyone heard anything from the ex marilyn manson guitarist John 5?,i have some of his stuff and he surprised me because he is so good. Anyone have any more stuff by him?

cheers.

Fallen Zero 05-26-2005 02:13 PM

^^^Jaws of life, Glasgow Kiss, Damage Control

I've heard that Amorphis is a good band. What CD should I try out first?

3rdplanet 05-26-2005 03:42 PM

I want some new music similar to ISIS/Neurosis/Pelican/Mare/Jesu and the like, anyone got any names they wanna drop?

Bartender 05-26-2005 03:48 PM

The Red Sparowes, possibly. They're less heavy/metal than what you list, though (closer to post-rock)

Cult of Luna if you want to go the other way.

I'm sure there are more, but my mind has gone blank.

3rdplanet 05-26-2005 03:59 PM

Ah ha, yeah I already have a couple of tracks by them off their website, really quality stuff.

Haven't checked out Cult of Luna, but will do. Are they the Italian group with a female lead singer? or do I have them mixed up with someone else?

Bartender 05-26-2005 04:03 PM

You might be thinking of Lacuna Coil there. They don't sound much like any of the bands you're looking at though. Cult of Luna are Swedish and, as far as I know, all-male. I can recommend their second album (The Beyond) and most of their first, self-titled, one, but I haven't heard their most recent, Salvation. Most reports I've heard indicate it's not quite as dense and oppressively heavy as, and just-as-good-as-if-not-better than, The Beyond. I should really pick it up myself actually.

Fallen Zero 05-26-2005 04:04 PM

^^^Nope, you're thinking about Lacuna Coil...

3rdplanet 05-26-2005 04:09 PM

ah yeah that's the name, oh I have a song by Cult of Luna on my PC already :S

It's from Salvation, want me to upload it Bartender?

Bartender 05-26-2005 04:10 PM

Yeah, sure. Be interesting to hear.

3rdplanet 05-26-2005 04:29 PM

Leave Me Here - Cult of Luna

Very good song, it's like early(ish, not the hardcore stuff) ISIS with much better vocals.

Bartender 05-26-2005 04:30 PM

Thanks, downloading it now.

3rdplanet 05-26-2005 04:32 PM

I hope it plays this time

My Lovage track didn't work did it?

Bartender 05-26-2005 04:35 PM

Nope. I'm not sure why, I didn't get an error or corrupted file message, it just..wouldn't play.

EDIT: The Lovage track, I mean. Still downloading this one.

Timidus 05-28-2005 10:03 AM

Could anyone please recommend a good Opeth CD? I haven't heard any music of them, but heard through friends and people here at MX that they kick ***. So, any good CD's to help me get into them?

I would suggest blackwater park, but any album is a good place to start. Although i wouldnt get ****ation first because its enitrely with clean/acoustic, and although very good, its not all not really a good guide to what opeth are like.

joe_fresh 05-28-2005 10:50 AM

Which sigur ros album should i get first?

Bartender 05-28-2005 10:57 AM

Agaetis Byrjun is my favoured one, I think.

joe_fresh 05-28-2005 11:00 AM
Agaetis Byrjun is my favoured one, I think.
Ok, cheers.

azbassman 05-28-2005 12:57 PM

Can you guys recommend any good prog death besides opeth i got everything by them

Stoic 05-28-2005 01:30 PM

not exactly like OPETH but your next step couldl be: late era DEATH

Lack of Comprehension
Nothing is Everything
Without Judgement
Scavenger of Human Sorrow

See if you can find these songs, they differ a lot as DEATH has been one of the finest examples of actual "progressing without sucking".

ArcLite 05-28-2005 01:57 PM

Get Atheist's album Unquestionable Presence. It's very progressive, has some cool jazz influence in it, and sounds awesome.

Stoic 05-28-2005 02:03 PM

Awesome album! My favourite song is and the phychic saw

All right ill see if i can download those

3rdplanet 05-28-2005 06:29 PM

Out of bordem, and a sense of obligation, I listened to Meshuggah's 'I' earlier and really enjoyed it.

What is their best album asides from this EP thingy?

StandingStill 05-28-2005 06:46 PM

Would someone recommend me some bands that basically make really challenging music, the kind of thing most people cant listen to. I'm thinking of Wolf Eyes, Sunn0))), early Melt Banana. I'm not thinking of Dillinger Escape Plan kinda stuff, Grind or Death-metal, unless you reckon its more intense than Pandemonic Hyperblast by Anaal Nathrakh.

StandingStill 05-28-2005 07:58 PM
Possibly Merzbow, the Boredoms, Khanate?
Completely forgot about Merzbow! Will check out the Boredoms their Japanese right? Familiar with Khanate. Thanks for the tips.

Bartender 05-28-2005 08:03 PM

Well, if you like Merzbow, check out Maldoror (which you might well already be familiar with, if you're a Merzbow fan). And yeah, I think the Boredoms are Japanese.

MegaMustaine 05-28-2005 08:19 PM

I'm looking to purchase a new Megadeth Cd, but I'm not exactly sure which one. I already have Rust in Peace, Cryptic Writings, Countdown to Extinction, and The System Has Failed.

Should I get:..Killing is my Business
Peace Sells..but whos buying
Or Youthanasia

Peace sells but whos buying is a great cd man you should get that one :thumb:

Also can someone recommend me some music in the lines of quo vadis ,kalmah, norther,COb,nile, cryptopsy and behemoth i know that they dont sound the same but something like that? thanks :)

Bartender 05-28-2005 08:28 PM

Lykathea Aflame
Necrophagist
Sinners Bleed
Mithras
Arsis
and possibly Origin, but I'm not too familiar with them.

Most of those are based on your liking of Cryptopsy/Nile, except Arsis, which is based on Quo Vadis.

RiceMonster 05-28-2005 08:34 PM

For more in the Cryptopsy/Nile, try Decapitated and Aborted.

Bartender 05-28-2005 08:36 PM

Well you could maybe stand to tiptoe around Decapitated (:)), but yeah, forgot about Aborted. And if you're going for Aborted, you may as well check out Carcass too.

Txus 05-28-2005 08:43 PM

Thanks allot to both of you i'v already checked out :
Lykathea Aflame
Necrophagist
Mithras
