Tyler 02-29-2008 11:24 PM

Showing up is one thing but getting in on time is another.

DBlitz 03-01-2008 05:22 AM

I got around to watching the Bloodmeat music video again.

Its so hilarious. I love the song

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:11 AM

I don't really see why it's hilarious

Transient 03-01-2008 10:13 AM

Oh hey look, Tyler is posting his OPINYUNZ in a PTH thread.

The film clip is pretty funny tbh, Rody's haircut is hard to take seriously.

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:16 AM

well yeah but that whole outfit started as a joke when he asked some stylist to make him look like justin timberlake, it's still an awesome video other than rody's super gay catwalk strut

Transient 03-01-2008 10:17 AM

He didn't say it wasn't good, just that it was funny.

LEARN TO READ K?

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:18 AM

and I dont see why it's hilarious

Transient 03-01-2008 10:20 AM

Rody's air humping and general gayness is what's funny, the clip is still awesome and so is the song. Are people not allowed to say anything bad about PTH without you starting world war IX?

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:21 AM

Did I start WWIX? Stop being such a gigantic faggot, I just said I don't see why the video is hilarious. How is anyone saying it is even bad?

Transient 03-01-2008 10:26 AM

I'm pretty sure anyone that's read your ridiculously persistent defence of PTH knows that you take pretty much any criticism of the band and argue with the person who says it until they agree with you.

I'm not going to bother arguing with you, because you will win and you have a bigger vocabulary and you actually contribute to discussions, but seriously now.

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:28 AM
I'm pretty sure anyone that's read your ridiculously persistent defence of PTH knows that you take pretty much any criticism of the band and argue with the person who says it until they agree with you.
Pretty sure that wasn't a criticism of the band, and I'm pretty sure "I dont see why it's hilarious" isn't really arguing.

People should get it out of their head that I'm bull-headedly defending the band. I'm really just talking and then you douchequeers come in and try and put words in my mouth and wonder why you lose arguments you should never have started.

I won't win because I'm better than you, I'll win because you dont have a point.

Redundancy.

Tyler 03-01-2008 10:33 AM

your face

Shattered_Future 03-01-2008 10:36 AM

Is pretty, yes.

Actually, not today, cause I haven't shaven in a while. Kinda looks like a vagina with balls at the front...

Transient 03-01-2008 10:39 AM
Pretty sure that wasn't a criticism of the band, and I'm pretty sure "I dont see why it's hilarious" isn't really arguing.
Oh ok, my bad then, I should have just said 'no one cares about your opinion'. He stated his opinion (and it wasn't even bad in any way) and you pretty much just shot him down. I'm sure if he'd started arguing with you about this, you would've written a 500 word response with a thesis and a conclusion.

idk even know if that makes sense tbh it's late and I haven't slept enough.

lol

kattunlover69 03-01-2008 05:40 PM

forgot to mention rody was wearing whitie tighties with a pink outline and his pants had a frigin hole at the spot where the male sexual organ is at....and he had one legs up on the speakers the whole time...I tried to look away by looks at tim or arif but when i look to see what rody is doing.....

DBlitz 03-01-2008 05:41 PM

Pretty much what he said

illpressureurhinges1 03-03-2008 03:05 PM

Rody is just freaking insane.

Benzilla 03-03-2008 05:58 PM

I was looking around the Something Awful forums and I found some news on the possible Chocolate Rain/Sequoia Throne resemblance:
Rody and Luke ended up kidnapping me and my friend for like 3 or 4 hours after their set. They came up to us and were like "Hey, we're going across the street to get some drinks and dinner just so we can get out of here, wanna come with us?" so the four of us went and just goofed off. They're really awesome guys... and they're way too good at Big Buck Hunter, haha.

I ended up asking them about the whole Chocolate Rain Sequoia Throne thing. I started with "So... have you guys ever heard of this dumb internet video... Chocolate Rain?" and they both started laughing. I guess someone else had already brought it to their attention. Luke informed me that they wrote Sequoia Throne before Chocolate Rain even existed, or at least before anyone knew about it. It was the second song they wrote for the album, and they wrote it back in January of '07.

Later on in the night it was us four up in their backroom at the venue, and I had my friend send me the mix of the two that he made. I played it for them and they were horrified, haha. They made me keep playing it, and Luke's first comment was "...I think we're going to have some copyright issues..."
The mix in question can be found here (quicktime needed):

Obligatory link to Chocolate Rain:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=EwTZ2xpQwpA

The verdict: No, they didn't know anything about Chocolate Rain when they wrote Sequoia Throne because they wrote it in January of 2007. As for the copyright issues, probably a joke (just getting that out of the way now to try and stop the possible "When are they going to pursue legal action?" comments).

Tyler 03-03-2008 06:01 PM

I was always under the impression that Goddess Gagged was the second they wrote but I was never 100%. I know Dissentience is the first though.

Capricious 03-03-2008 09:54 PM

Obviously Sequoia needs more piano. Or if rody stole some lyrics to mix it up a bit would be cool too.

On a different note, the fortress 'sans vocals' album still holds up pretty well. If your still lurking this thread, find a link or spend the piddly 9 bucks and get it off itunes--It does stand solid on its own. Although it hasn't been that long since either were released; i'm done over playing the album but i still listen to it heavily. Sometimes its refreshing to take a break from rody and enjoy the orchestra brass/strings samples and extra polish that gets buried by the volume of the vocals.

I was checking up on this thread like matthew good's blog at work and one of my lackeys walked by and noticed the meta tag in the top of the browser with protest the hero sputnik-etc. and was saying that he saw them play mtv live and was raving about Arif's shredding. [This guy being a bass player himself..] I admitted that i was fairly fannatic about em' and mentioning how much they have progressed as a band. / Turns out that the (fortress)mtv stint was the first time he's heard of them and he has intentions of picking up fortress, i burnt him the instrumental cd--still awaiting feedback but im excited nonetheless that someone in my network seems passionate about the band, since friends that i've invited to shows haven't given them too much of a second look.

Tyler 03-03-2008 09:58 PM

The instrumental CD is great, it makes you appreciate everyone more. It makes you appreciate Rody's ability to make lyrics work and create melodies (because it was essentially written instrumentally) and it makes you appreciate the band's ability to play together.

jrowa001 03-03-2008 10:40 PM

i still need to get the instrumental cd, i only have the Ep with a few songs

Crysiss 03-04-2008 12:46 AM

Seen PTH A few weeks ago. Rody ranted about how Americans call toques 'beanies"

DBlitz 03-04-2008 02:26 AM

I've been listening to Protest the Hero too much lately.

beans 03-04-2008 12:34 PM

i kind of stopped after listening to fortress for a 3 weeks straight, listened to a few songs off kezia a few times lately

Benzilla 03-04-2008 06:01 PM

*cough*If someone, anyone, can find five minutes to send me the instrumental version of Fortress I will be very grateful.

ellman.ben AT gmail.com*/cough*

Wow, that was weird.

ATM 03-04-2008 06:06 PM

Could I get that, Tyler?

Pastorius 03-04-2008 07:14 PM

Cocaine, you do pretty much throw a skitz whenever anyone says anything even remotely un-positive about PTH.

DJTeeLay 03-04-2008 07:17 PM

Let's test your theory.

Rody's girlish voice can get annoying at times.

Pastorius 03-04-2008 07:25 PM

Arif's immature basslines sometimes smack of pretentious potshots at sophisticated melodies

good plan

DJTeeLay 03-04-2008 07:40 PM

Protest The Queero!
(That likes them.)

gillygan 03-04-2008 08:14 PM

I've been listening to kezia for about a year and I love it. What should I get next?

Static 03-04-2008 08:18 PM

lol wut

Tyler 03-04-2008 08:25 PM
Could I get that, Tyler?
yeah i'll put it on the other forum
Cocaine, you do pretty much throw a skitz whenever anyone says anything even remotely un-positive about PTH.
No.

Next question

beans 03-04-2008 08:35 PM

ok who is your avatar, i love his majestic locks

NemesisDivina 03-04-2008 08:48 PM

I already asked.

He doesn't know, he just randomly found it and thought it was funny.

DJTeeLay 03-04-2008 08:57 PM

It's obviously the lead singer of Rise Against.
He has a new dew.

beans 03-04-2008 08:57 PM

oh it is funny so the purpose is fulfilled

ThePrimer 03-04-2008 09:05 PM

Any similar band to protest the hero that's not The Human Abstract or Sikth?
