Exellent cd!

Bluesy vibes = feeling good.

pate 10-22-2006 04:49 PM

Blues + metal = secks
I am currently listening to the first song of my first stoner metal album, Blues for the Red Sun by Kyuss.

It's pretty fucking superb.
Fix'd

Kyle 10-22-2006 05:37 PM

Oooh yeah, Kyuss is a great introduction. Havn't listened to them in ages, might do so now.

That Boris/Sunn O))) thing sounds sexy, I'll have to hunt it down.

Bartender 10-22-2006 06:09 PM
I'm downloading a Spiritual Beggars album, and started it right before they were mentioned.

I HAVE to find another GM album besides Monument.
Surely their new(est) one (Wolf's Return?) would be fairly easy to find. I saw it in a regular music store.

'Tender: I'll have to hunt for it.

Jono: Are you quoting my statement about Sahg?

Apocalyptic Raids 10-23-2006 01:22 AM

Yes.

Anyone heard Lamented Souls? Epic Doom with Simen Hestnęs on vocals, it's fucking great. I'm not usually a fan of his, but his voice sounds really great here.

Werny 10-23-2006 07:13 AM

They're my favourite Trad/Epic band.

I finally got myself some Anathema! Pentecost III. The vocals are horrible for most of it I found, I love his growls though. The music is done so well... Kingdom is instant classic for me. Love that clean riff.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-23-2006 07:32 AM
They're my favourite Trad/Epic band.
Yeah, this is definitely some of the best Epic I've heard. Not as good as Candlemass or Solstice, but it's definitely up there.

AlienEater 10-23-2006 07:38 AM

Epic sounds so stupid. I hate that word.

pate 10-23-2006 08:35 AM

Epic is a great word.

Jondur 10-23-2006 10:45 AM
Epic sounds so stupid. I hate that word.
I think it's the perfect way to describe a wide array of music from Manowar to Solstice to Doomsword to Enslaved and even Wagner.

Anyway Lamented Souls are fantastic. I love them. His vox are completely bonkers but sound great.

pate 10-23-2006 11:39 AM

I'm downloading The Origins of Misery right now.

Sleepy 10-23-2006 04:57 PM

I'm downloading two Kyuss albums currently.

Also, Krux and Krux II are amazing.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-24-2006 03:23 AM

It's Leif, so of course it's good.

AlienEater 10-24-2006 05:55 AM

I bought a Solarized album the other day, I was pleasantly surprised, it's much better than I was expecting.

Patrick O))) 10-24-2006 07:42 AM

I'm going to get that Sunn O/Boris collaboration tonight, as well as the Blame It On The Fish Primus dvd. lol fanboy ++

Today's purchases:

Clutch - Pure Rock Fury
Mastodon - Remission
Winnebago Deal - Flight Of The Raven

Pretty sound summation of my favourite still-active bands right there

Inc Primus, seeing as they're touring again in the US, and rumour has it they're doing an album when this tour's finished

Bartender 10-24-2006 09:27 AM

Is that new Winnebago Deal?

Why didn't I know that existed :( Is it any good?

Jondur 10-24-2006 09:29 AM

Just two days till I see Reverend Bizarre, Gates of Slumer and Centurion's Ghost. Jealous?

Patrick O))) 10-24-2006 09:30 AM

Aye it is. It's pretty good, it's WB doing what WB does :p

It arrived in the cd store I work in, but before I could afford to get it it was sent back because noone bought it >:-/ so I had to order another copy

I <3 HMV ^-^

AlienEater 10-24-2006 09:31 AM

I might be seeing them too, on Dutch Doom Day. :)

np: Esoteric - The Blood Of the Eyes
Any fans?
Just two days till I see Reverend Bizarre, Gates of Slumer and Centurion's Ghost. Jealous?
Yes!

I just got these in the mail:

Swallow the Sun - The Morning Never Came
How Like a Winter - Beyond My Grey Wake...

Both are incredible.

Shattered_Future 10-24-2006 05:31 PM

First one is one of the greatest doom albums ever. I should go buy it at Tower when I get some cash, and get some sale prices on it.

Sleepy 10-24-2006 05:37 PM

NP Swallow the Sun - Out of the Gloomy Light

This album sounds so amazingly different than Ghosts of Loss. The uber-melancholy guitar leads over the really aggressive growling contrasts well.

Daven 10-24-2006 05:50 PM

I prefer Ghost of Loss over The Morning Never Came.

You a Dutchie? *passes the2stranger on the left hand side*

I'm going to the Belgium Doom Night as well to see Mirror of Deception, Semlah and The River. Should be a good do.

Might go to Leeds on Friday as Lamp of Thoth are opening. They're supposed to be great although I haven't heard anything yet. They have a myspace but myspace is blocked at work. Anyone fancy checking them out on my behalf?

Not yet. It's supposed to be their best yet. I'll pick it up on Thursday.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-25-2006 03:52 AM

It is very good. I haven't given it enough listens to compare properly to The Awakening yet, but things are looking up.

the2stranger 10-26-2006 09:19 AM

I love that song, it's so mellow.
A song you want to listen to during a romantic candlelight diner.

The mailman still hasn't delivered my cd's which were supposed to be delivered today.
I don't hope anything went wrong.

AlienEater 10-26-2006 09:21 AM

What are you getting?

the2stranger 10-26-2006 09:27 AM
