A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-10-2005 11:05 AM

What's everyone think of acoustic music with some straight up screaming in it?

MidnightHysteria 12-10-2005 11:07 AM

I'm opposed, but I have no problem with accoustic music with singing really loudly and fuzzily

Muse_ 12-10-2005 11:52 AM

I don't enjoy screaming very much. It seems they've run out of things to say and so they go:
"I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING THAT RHYMES WITH PURPLE, WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAHAHKAH."

Acoustic music I do like though. :)

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-10-2005 12:20 PM

I dunno what screaming music you listen to.

Straight up screaming might be interesting. I think The Mountain Goats do something in that area, though nothing like what I think you're talking about. I'd love to hear what you come up with.
I dunno what screaming music you listen to.
Not the good kind apparently. :)

TojesDolan 12-10-2005 03:49 PM

Acoustic is supposed to be mellower... but it should be a wicked experiment.

Just don't try fingerpicking... OK that shuld be good.

Record something and upload it so we can tell if it's too bad.

Finger-picked is good for screaming. I'm assuming he'll try and use some dissonance to go with the vocal style and finger-picking's the best way to go, over chordage.

deathscreamingsheep 12-11-2005 03:31 PM

^^ Thought I'd just say how much I like your slow trees lyrics.

mshort813 12-12-2005 02:48 PM

hi.

metaliq 12-12-2005 04:21 PM

yo.

TojesDolan 12-12-2005 04:47 PM

Please don't spam. :(

On a related note, I have a soccer game in half an hour.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-13-2005 12:25 AM

I have just the music up to a song I'm going to clean up, layer, and add vocals to when I get home. Kind of sloppy, but you can hear what I'm going for.

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 12-13-2005 09:25 PM

i enjoy it, its just knida hard to see the screaming incorperated, have to hear more though.

Sloth 12-15-2005 01:28 PM

hey...whoever..

I haven't been around for a WHILE.. Where is everyone? Who are the regulars now?

Is there anything out there worth reading and critting?

MidnightHysteria 12-15-2005 01:36 PM

Nope. Nothing exists in this forum anymore. In fact, the forum itself is merely a figment of your imagination.

drumass04 12-15-2005 03:43 PM

Haha.
I haven't been crit'ing much in the past few days. Must get down to it again. I find I learn a lot from writing the more detailed crits. Though some writing at the moment does only deserve a short paragraph.

Welcome Home Sloth. Hope you're here to stay :P

TojesDolan 12-15-2005 05:20 PM

Sup Sloth. I'm here.

The thing is I haven't written a single piece that was worth really making. On the other hand, I haven't really spotted too many great pieces. I see a couple good ones and I lurk a bit, but not like I used to.

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 12-15-2005 08:20 PM

Cough im still here cough cough
cough piece cough first cough page cough
welcome back cough cough
sloth cough cough

Hadji 12-15-2005 08:48 PM

Does Josh still post around here?

TojesDolan 12-15-2005 08:57 PM

Who's Josh?

Username please.

Hadji 12-15-2005 08:59 PM

Whoops. I mixed up two different people. I was thinking of IOWNU200. He still post?

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 12-15-2005 09:04 PM

every once and again

Hadji 12-15-2005 09:11 PM

What about Morrissey?

TojesDolan 12-15-2005 10:02 PM

She says she's not interested in songwriting anymore.

That made me a little sad but I recovered and that's about it.

RunAmokRampant 12-16-2005 01:41 AM

Too bad for her, she was pretty good at it.

SubtleDagger 12-16-2005 08:42 AM

Hahahahaha

Oh sorry.

IOWNU200 12-16-2005 06:10 PM

hello fellow song writers, it's been awhile since i've posted, but I've beens tricken with another path of inspiration, so I should be pumping some more songs out and getting more involved in the community, how've things been going in here?

TojesDolan 12-16-2005 08:23 PM

Really bad, in my opinion. There are a lot of one line crits, and bad songs, with no possible chance of improving.

But there's good stuff here and there, so yeah. :)

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 12-16-2005 08:44 PM

more **** too wade through, but you find a little hint of gold everyonce and a while. Noobs worth lookin at:
Slackjaw
Deadreligion
MidnightHysteria
Drumass

aside from that nothing that ive seen is too great, aside from old pros.

Muse_ 12-16-2005 09:24 PM

I wish more people would post edits. They either say thank you or disagree with you, and you never get to see what they've done with the piece.

DeadReligion 12-16-2005 10:03 PM

Heh, Voodoo, I'm flattered you think my stuff is worth looking at. Am I considered a noob though, I've been on for like 9 or ten months...Hmm, well whatever, at least I'm "worth looking at". Lol, that's good enough for me. Is JustinHughes a noob? I didn't see his join date...he's done some pretty rad stuff. Anyway, yeah, I can't think of a whole lot of good noobs...so I'll just stop talking now.

MidnightHysteria 12-16-2005 10:43 PM

Yeah. I'm also honored to be on there, despite having posted about 5 pieces on here in 3 or 4 months.

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 12-16-2005 10:46 PM

Well i said that as:
your peices are moderate, much better than average noobs
and you are diligant about crits, which is very good.

PS
midnight, you havent been here for more than four months

Hadji 12-16-2005 11:17 PM

I should probably start writing non-practical lyrics again.

thanks man, appreciate that, I dig your stuff too. :chug:

ps: why has the S&L Thread been so dead lately? seems like no one is ever viewing/critiquing/releasing much..sad..

TojesDolan 12-16-2005 11:56 PM

It's strange. I had never lived one of the waves of great stuff here at S&L. When I came, it was shˇtty as hell. I got along with some oldsters, and then I felt really good in this community, to the point where I spent here more time than the whole entire site.

Anyhow, as time passed by, I was left with less time to look at other people's stuff, therefore, I was left with hardly ever something worthy to say, but usually giving some advice. All in all, I suppose I could be around more, but I became an elitist prick who feels bad about givig critiques to newbies because I'm sure they'll never give feedback.

Although I get enough good feedback anyhow.

FA 12-17-2005 12:13 AM

don't become an elitist prick :thumb:

and plus, it's nice to have someone around giving worthy critiques whether they're cruel or not, as long as it helps the person.

Hadji 12-17-2005 12:13 AM

I'd gladly post more stuff if I honestly thought I'd get any good crits.

FA 12-17-2005 12:16 AM

I post my writing whether I think users will like it or not, I just want feedback, whether it's negative or positive, as long as it's done in an appropriate way...I critique when I get the time, and I critique at LEAST once for every time I post a poem, more often more than once..
