I just started to cover the song Shine On. Im tryin to get the tone right, but i just got a Boss CS-3 Compressor pedal and an amp that allows me to use one more effect. Im getting close, but its not right yet.

Compressor helps a lot. After playing with it, I basically leave it on all the time cause it sounds so great. Now I just need an equalizer to get that bassy type of tone. And my new strat wouldn't hurt either. :upset:

My favorite animation would have to be empty spaces. Its basically sweet, I think the movie version of the song is great. My favorite part is when the gun transforms into the syringe and all that stuff. Real good.

does anybody here know if Syd Barret preforms on Ummagumma. I love that cd and its that cd that got me into Syds stuff. Now after getting the cds that Syd is on I see only one of the songs that Syd wrote is on Ummagumma. It sounds so much like him but idk

I really like the first animation scene, where the dove bursts apart, and turns into that black bird, then into the bomber. It's awesome. In addition, The Trial is great. You can't beat a fat blob with balls hanging from his chin, or the walking vagina. :rolleyes:

I haven't really dove into the whole concept of the movie, so I will have more mature, sensible answers and questions about the movie in a few days. :thumb:

We had a big discussion about the animations and what they were all metaphors for quite a few pages back. Check it out for some food for thought.

Who likes the ABITW2 sequence. Brilliant, in my opinion.

It's rad. However, in the end, when they're chanting while the guitar solo is going on... no good. It ruins the solo for me.

Syd Barret does, in fact, not perform anywhere on Ummagumma.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond is divided into Parts I-V and VI-IX (1-5 and 6-9 if you don't know roman numerals.)

Track 1 is I-V, and Track 5 is VI-IX.

I also found several interesting, yet depressing, quotes about the time when Syd showed up during the recording of WYWH.

Pink Floyd: The Illustrated Discography says: "During the WYWH sessions a fat, shaven-headed person wearing grey Terylene trousers, a nylon shirt and string vest wandered into the studio. The band ignored the visitor and kept on playing and it was the visiting Andrew King who finally recognised their guest: 'Good God, it's Syd! How did you get like that?
' To which Syd replied, 'I've got a very large fridge at home and I've been eating a lot of pork chops.' The whole event was slightly un-nerving since the theme of the album was based on Syd and his subsequent madness."

I was watching the extras about 15 minutes ago. I really liked the video for "Hey You." It's one of my favorite songs offa The Wall.

Do you guys know if Waters originally intended for The Wall to be made into a movie? Or did the director approach him after the album had been released?

Pink Floyds best album in my opinion is Atom Heart Mother. The most surreal, sublime and beautiful album ever made.

I don't like it that much compared to other Floyd albums mainly because it emulates PATGOD too much.

PATGOD is also one of Floyd's best albums. But Atom Heart Mother is the best, because the suite on the first half is too brilliant for words, if is brilliant, summer '68 is brilliant, fat old sun is brilliant, and alan's psychedelic breakfast is brilliant.

I've found that if there's an album Floyd fans haven't listened to, it's Atom Heart Mother. That is an atrocity, it's their best album.

I dont think AHM is anything like Piper. Piper never had horns or crazy oprea singers. Piper and AHM are almost polar opposites, Piper was extremely dissonent where AHM is very mellow and uses alot of clean tones and acoustic instrumentation.

Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast is easily one of my favorite songs.

He makes it look easy on Pompeii. The first time I heard the song it scared the crap outta me.

Pompeii makes me apreciate PF's ability as musicians more in general. They really had their **** together.
