Right now I'm listening to the Happy Mondays, because I was playing GTA:SA, and Shaun Ryder does the voice for a character in it, and he's fucking great, so I decided to listen to Pills Thrills and Bellyaches. The end.

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2004 12:37 AM

The Fall have been getting a lil play.

LiLbacon3 11-16-2004 12:41 AM

Lately

As of late, I've been switching genres randomly with my mood. I'm feeling that emo void which much be filled by the perfect album for the moment. Been writing some lyrics/poetry that I'm quite happy with too. g/f and stress from school are helping that along.

Benton Falls
Lewis
Mars Volta
Dispatch
ATD-I
Sparta
The String Quartet
Lindsey Pool
Rilo Kiley
Justin King
(Relaxation/meditation nature sounds)
Justin king
Cursive
Built to Spill
(live jazz)

I suppose I'm trying to mix styles w/feelings and other styles. See if I can get creative in any way possible. I'm trying to find out what I want to do with my life (picking a major, girlfriend, life...). Plenty of things are being pondered right now. I'm looking for the right musical influences to alter my situation and decisions positively, or at least how they should affect me. Kinda deep. IM me and we can talk. It'll be wholesome and worth while.

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2004 12:45 AM

Looks pretty straight forward to me...

manuscriptreplica 11-16-2004 01:18 AM

I've been cranking Lightning Bolt lately, they're a big band

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2004 01:22 AM

^ Ha! That's actually funny if you think about it.

But they do kick entirely too much anus.

manuscriptreplica 11-16-2004 01:37 AM

?

Yeah they're great, I downloaded a mp3 of Cedric Bixler being interviewed, and he said Lightning Bolt are one of his favourite bands

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2004 01:41 AM

That's strange, he and Omar always seem to be bitching about heavy bands.

Weird little spic men those 2.

manuscriptreplica 11-16-2004 01:44 AM

They are quite the pair

Can I say Carcass in here, or what

And I finally obtained Mezzanine, thanks to Bartender's recommendation, I will let you know what I think shortly!

br3ad_man 11-16-2004 03:40 AM

^^^
Mezzanine is a good album and Lightning Bolt are pretty wicked as well.
Right now I'm listening to the "Summers Kiss EP", by Dashboard.

/Embarrassed.
...and you (will know us by the trail of dead) laughed at me for liking Something Corporate. :smash:

Today we had a conservatorium jazz group vist the school. They played like 6 originals and "Straight Street". So I was digging them. Other than that I've been listening to:

Elbow
Nine Inch Nails
Beach Boys
Bob Dylan
CSNY

Iai: Enjoy Daydream Nation, 'tis very good.

crazydrummerdude 11-16-2004 07:00 AM

i've been listening to biffy clyro's infinity land, neil young's harvest, radiohead stuff, bill withers..i know weird choice, but i'm really into his style

Bartender 11-16-2004 08:03 AM

I know I said a few weeks ago that The Levellers were my new record for taking a long time to check out a band - just over two years - but I found a new winner already. The Cocteau Twins.

I remember back in February 2002, literally just when I'd joined, posting in an R&M thread about electronica/great female singers, I think. This thread (thanks to Orb and a couple of others who have long since left) got me into Massive Attack (via Teardrop) and Bjork, and recommended the Cocteau Twins (again, somewhat via Teardrop, when I reported back that I knew and loved it). Here I am, November 2004, having just bought my first Cocteau Twins album. 32 months to check someone out is pathetic :(

Anyway, I think I'm falling in love with Liz Fraser's voice. That's the only real point of this post.

vayanrd_01 11-16-2004 10:49 AM

Okay, my ex-girlfriend made me this cd a looong time ago and I need to know who sings this one song that goes kinda like this:

I wanted to see birds
So you took me to the sea
I felt like I could fly against the sky you showed to be
Airplanes passed above us
So only I could hear
When you whispered 'I love you'
So softly in my ear
These are the best days
These are the best days

...so on and so forth
it is a chick singing too

Oh, and so i'm not completely irrelevant, These Arms are Snakes are a really good band, check out Criteria if you like them.

Tomahawk 11-16-2004 10:57 AM

^Google tells me that it's "The Best Days" by the Softies.

vayanrd_01 11-16-2004 11:11 AM

huh...i couldn't find it but thanks a lot
Lightning Bolt > Mastodon.
Lightning Bolt is the Bee's Knees man, ive found a lot of their sounds to be similar to Brainiac's really out there stuff.

YDload 11-16-2004 01:12 PM

I put on my Audioscrobbler radio station. It started playing Sonic Youth, and I was all "ick..." but now I'm actually enjoying this song that I've always hated. What's going on?

You've grown acoustum to their sound.

Zappa 11-16-2004 04:15 PM

But it's not live I've been listening to them trying to get into it. It just happened to come up. I think it's odd.

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2004 04:27 PM
Tangy, is that Josh Homme in your avatar?
Why yes, yes it is. And wouldn't you say that's one of the sexiest ginger men you ever sawed?

Lightning Bolt are the best heavy band on the planet.

Try and compete.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 03:28 AM

Every time I listen to Hot Snakes I like them a little more.

They have now made it into my top 10. Awesome band.

Iai 11-17-2004 03:38 AM

I still prefer Drive Like Jehu.

I think they might have ploughed their way into my Top 40 or something. After a week of having 1 of their albums.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 03:41 AM

I'm pickin up what you puttin' down. I hear ya barkin' dog.
