Hey guys... http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448047
I wonder where he was killed?
Captain Walker wasn't killed at all, he comes back from the war to find his wife with another man. He kills the other guy. Yeah, the movie got it wrong.
Careful, if you do that you'll have to make a big album about your spiralling path into madness.
Well, too late for that. /is writing a parody album called "The Fence"
hay d00dz who wuld u wanna meet
If he ever gets better, Syd. He seems like the kind of guy that you could have a pretty long conversation about life with. That is, if he isn't tripping on anything.
I always liked that part in the movie right after One Of My Turns, after he destroys the apartment. It's when he's lying in the pool, and the blood is slowly dripping through the pool. He's just floating there pondering life.
Then the pool turns blood red. That's a cool scene, one of my favorites.
Store Attendant: Sir, you've been here playing the same riff for nearly 5 hours. I'm not sure if... hey, is that Pink Floyd?
Me: /plays Paganini's 5th caprice Store Attendent: WTF IS THAT |
Oh, and I can also send you More, Trav. I'll get on it right now.
Captain Walker didn't come home, his unborn child, will never know him. Believe him missing with a number of men, don't expect to see him again.
Captain Walker is off somewhere and never returns, as my understanding of the album is. |
I figured he got lost at sea.
|
Trav, that Floyd's going to take about an hour more.
EDIT: Okay, I just sent More. |
So I got my new amp today (again) I've been messing around trying to get some Floyd sounds. I'm getting close but it's gonna take some more time. I've gotta learn how to use it
|
Led-ZeppelinIV you are teh coolness.
Getting sent PF albums by a Jan06er FTW :p |

What kind of amp is it? I've got the solo to The Thin Ice nailed down, I've been playing it non-stop for like 2 days. It's so fun to play. |
That solo is definitely one of Gilmour's best. It kind of saves the song for me. It's not that bad a song, but doesn't really stand on its own without the solo.
I'm just about to listen to More and A Saucerful Of Secrets. |
A day without a post in the PF thread. Shame Shame Shaaaaame
The Nile Song is so awesome, it sounds like nothing else Floyd has. I can't even figure out who's singing on it, whoever it is sounds great singing metal. Discuss. |

Discuss.
The Nile Song is weird, it sounds nothing like anything I've ever heard from the band. I think its Dave on vocals. Not that its a bad song, I just have to be in the right mood for it. |

I think I'd still love it without the solo, but it does vastly improve it. The Nile Song = Awesomeness |

what are some good Pink Floyd solo's to learn? I mean...I know some good ones...but what are ya'lls favorites?
Wish you were here is easy, fun and some people are amazed if you play the intro during the breaks in the solo...comfortably numb. |
Uh oh, I feel a bit of fanboyism coming on... must... fight... gaah...
1) Snowy White's solo on the mega top-secret uncut version of Pigs On The Wings Pts. 1 & 2 combined 2) Echoes 3) Comfy Numb (both) 4) Dogs (all of them) 5) Time 6) Pigs 3 Different Ones 7) Have A Cigar 8) Wish You Were Here (acoustic solo + "doo doo doo" ing with the notes = :) ) 9) Hey You 10) The Thin Ice 11) ABitW pt. II 12) Is There Anybody Out There? (the arpeggios) 13) Run Like Hell (not really solo, just awesome if you can sound like Gilly) In no particular order, but I think the Pigs On The Wing one is definitely my favorite right now. If anyone wants it... <_< >_> |
Echoes solos are my favourites, but the snowy white PotW solo is a definite 9/10.
I want this t-shirt SO badly... http://www.ukrockshop.com/acatalog/pinkfloyd_heartbeatpyramids_tie_dyed.jpg but it's £22. :( I might buy it anyway, it's so cool. |

It's not a secret at all.

Go all the way down to a little before the very bottom, there's a Pink Floyd bootleg this guy has uploaded, mostly with tracks I've never heard of before. Figured you guys might be interested. |
The mega secret version that I, Aaron, Aaron, Ethan and others have? :p
I was joking :p It's on A Tree Full Of Secrets I believe, which I still can't find anywhere :( Seriously, if anyone knows where I can find it or send it out to me, much e-sex would be given. Man, I love Obscured By Clouds too much to be healthy :chug: |
Captain Walker is off somewhere and never returns, as my understanding of the album is.
Check the linear notes for the CD:
Lover: I got a feeling '21 Is going to be a good year Especially if you and me see it in together Father: So you think '21 Is going to be a good year It could be good for me and her but you and her - no, never! Mother and Father: You didn't hear it see it etc etc
My point is that the father comes back and kills the lover, and that's why Tommy goes deaf dumb and blind. /me owns the who fanboy of the forum
Getting sent PF albums by a Jan06er FTW
I'm very sure that's an alternate account. |

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but if you're talking about the upright bass in David Gilmours concerts, I believe that was just for the concerts. |
He might mean Mason's double bass drums, and to answer that, he doesn't use both bass drums all that much, but I'm sure he does use them and they're probably not just for show.
But he might mean what you said Scooch. By the way, I'd like to add that I think Mason is an underrated drummer. Because of the style of music that Floyd plays for the most part, they don't use fast or particularly hard drumming, but when the band lets him, he can be really good. Random Examples: All of PATGOD Echoes (Live At Pompeii moreso) One Of These Days (Live At Pompeii even moreso) A Saucerful Of Secrets (again, LAP) The Nile Song etc. etc. etc. Not to mention he did some cool stuff like coming up with the "muffled drums" on Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun (STCFTHOTS  ), and did very well using the mallets on the cymbals in both ^^^ and One Of These Days, as well as other songs I'm sure. You have to wonder what Floyd's music would sound like if Waters had been better on bass, and had let Mason do his thing more often. Oh but a dream... |
Mason really isn't anything special on drums. He had a few good moments early in Floyd's career like you mentioned, but as time went on, it seems to me like he just declined and got less creative. One of These Days at Pompeii is my favorite drumming of his.
|
His drumming on Pompeii is nothing more than "solid". For the most part he's at least a little bit sloppy and never does anything to stand out among his contemporaries. And his drum sound on Pompeii is flat and annoying.
My point is that the father comes back and kills the lover, and that's why Tommy goes deaf dumb and blind. /me owns the who fanboy of the forum.
Meh, I blame Pete Townshend for his unclear, weak, and stupid plot :p |
I thought Tommy was Deaf, Dumb and Blind from birth.
|
Go post in the Who thread, losers.
And no, there was in event that turned him deaf, dumb, and blind. Or so we think. /Again blames Pete Townshend. |
Meh...when it comes to concept albums, it all comes down to 'The Wall.'
The Wall > Tommy |
