I'd consider them as different as black metal and death metal. Both came from the same source (Venom in the case of death and black) but approach it in a completely different way.

Red Sparowes is also nice, but not really doom or stoner. It's exellent post rock though.

I like the one newer song I've heard (from [i]Hex..[/i]) more than the couple I've heard from their 90s albums (no idea which), despite the relative absense of volume/heaviness/etc. I really liked the new one though, so I'm thinking of getting that album some time soon.

Actually is was a Stoner Rock band Greg was in that formed around 1996. They had a few releases, but they haven't released anything in a while.

Not that fussed on Goatsnake to be honest, Pete Stahls voice seems a bit...bland, the musics jolly sleazy though...Scott Reeders in it so whoo

Oh yeah, I'm in a new band (for those of you that even kinda cared about Animal Cruelty). It's basically Doom Metal, but it's weird, I don't know. But the name's Of Fire, Of Stone. Swallow The Sun is a doom/death band from Finland.
It's really good stuff.
They have two albums out, which both rock.
The songs mentioned here are must hears for this band.
