wow that site has some deep meanings, alot deeper than what has been said on these forums if i'm not mistaken. But wow. That's all wow.
|
But Tool has replaced people, they've replaced they're bassist once from Paul to Justin and both Paul's two albums (two and a half I guess) and Justin's two they both are really meaningful and not to mention great overall pieces of work.
I think you could replace a member but you're changing the sound. For instancePaul did a lot of high end bass work and Justin is much more of a low-end player that's why on their second last album some songs have really low bass and some are high end works. |
yeah it matters on who they replace and how, right now i really enjoy their line up

Saying Adam Jones is the weak link in TOOL or weak at anything musically is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Jones will easily go down as one of the most if not the most influential guitar players of our generation and his psychadelic sound and overall tonal palette are nothing short of remarkable.

I dont know if he will go down as an influential guitarist officially, but he will do in the true guitarist world, and musically too. But he wont get any kind of lasting impression on most of the population as he will remain a cult figure to the true fans of music. Unless tool hit the mainstream big time with this album and appear on TRL, TOp Of The Pops, etc ..................oh look, a flying pig |
In the beginning of 4 Degrees, does Adam use an acoustic guitar, or is it a clean electric? I can't really tell.
|
As far as I know, its not even Adam playing it. It was supposedly a Maynard riff play on some other stringed instrument. But i cant confirm that.
Adam never uses clean channels though, so it would be more than likely a low level distorted channel. But not acoustic |
It's definitely not acoustic.
|
i think its a sitar. almost positive because maynard uses alot of "exotic" instruments and that might be one of them but yeah i think its a sitar
oh yeah and just downloaded live version of push.it its pretty awesome. sounds like theyd be pretty good live. has anyone here seen them live? |
You can say the same about any band.
Not true. Look at Cradle Of Filth. Or even Pink Floyd. |
I agree with malignant, i think it cud be a sitar. I just can't beleive its an electric on low distortion, it soudns way too clean. It could be a sitar.
has anyone here seen them live?
Yeah, I saw Tool about 2years ago when they were on their Lateralus tour....it was amazing...It was an awesome show. |
if u have limewire or bearshare or something, search "Tool Live" and you'll get all kinds of sweeeeeeet a.ss live shows. I got prison sex, sober, schism, the grudge, ticks and leeches (VERY rare to see them do it live), the patient, parabola, 2 versions of pu****, no quarter, lateralus, aenema, stinkfist and eulogy. NOT good for my computer. I also got a whole **** APC concert (im such a loser) along with a bunch of their stuff too. and ratm. just thought id finll you in if u have it, if u dont, www.limewire.com free download. All the videos are awesome. In one of the pu****s this fan comes on the stage and maynard just decks him, sits on him and keeps singing.

12345 He doesnt show off nearly as much as he could. His simple lines, though, can give me chills. My favorite line of his is incredibly simple. The higher guitar part that he plays like 3 or 4 times in you lied is dumbfounding |
I have two questions about the meanings of tool lyrics if anyone can help me out.
on hooker with a *****- "that claimed that he was OGT back from 92' from the first EP" What does that mean? Also in the song Aeneima he says "**** smiley glad-hands with hidden agendas" What does that mean? |
also, (hooker with a *****) what are "501's"?
|

SO hes saying taht this guy was a Tool fan from the beginning. Don't know bout the Aenema line. |
also, (hooker with a *****) what are "501's"?
Vans 501's, a model of Vans I guess. |
Favorite/Least Favorite <<Tool>> Songs . . .
My least favorite is probably Sober, not because I dislike it, but because it's so different from other Tool songs, it sounds more like a normal mainstream metal song. It doesn't show their originality, my favorites are probably Track 8 on Lateralus, Lateralus, Parabola, The Grudge, Triad, and even though it's not completely Tool, since I love the Deftones, when I bought The White Pony, and I saw a collaboration of Maynard James Keenan and Chino Mareno, two of the greatest male vocalists of the new generation, I fell in love with Passenger. :thumb:

Oh, and 501's is a cetain model of Levi's pants...i think. |
yeah it must be levis coz there isnt a vans shoe modle name with 501s
|
it is Levi's
oh and i have now made my Tool collection even larger Aenima Lateralus and now Undertow now i know there is still opiate, is there any other tool c'ds i'm mising other than Opiate? |
Tool site
I remember a while back I visited a Tool site, I can't remember what it was called, but it had a bunch of downloadable live songs and stuff like that. Anyone know what site it is, or if it exists anymore? I remember the title being "Under a dead ohio sky" and it having quite a plain white design. Google search = nothing. Any help is appreciated.

It came out a while back (don't remember the year exactly) and the only way to get it now is through Ebay but prices go pretty high for those things. |

bummer, i wanted to max out my collection so to speak. |

If im selling out youre selling out as well... |
I'm gonna look in my local store for salival. It wouldnt surprise me if they have it. its a good shop. Thats where i got mine from. Anyone want it if I find one. come to think of it, i really need to get me another one.
Still, even Merkaba carries a message, albiet through sound samples. Even Tool's name reflects Maynard and the band; the band would not have the same energy if their "messenger" left.
Back to song discussion, does anybody have an interpretation of "The Grudge". I've heard things about relationships, but also lines like: Transmute these leaden grudges into gold which seem to imply alchemy, and Saturn ascends... I'm sure some of you have some insight into these lines and similar ones, and how they tie into the overall theme of the song and the album... I got nothin'
It is alchemy related of course. In general, alchemy in spiritual terms refers to light in general...(which is what everything is) not just "metal" Saturn in the "occult" and spiritual schene is connected with change and the decision making process, among other things. It makes you choose between the two opposites and brings the situation to the forefront so that you cant pussyfoot around it anymore. I went to our local spiritual festival about two years ago and got some work done on me with crystals and stuff. These folks really know what theyre doing. i never thought crystals could have as much affect on the body as they do. Anyways i got this cleasning done...and the wonderful ladies from another group were using chimes, and mantras to do sound therapy. They all kept speaking about my energy, and how i had all this energy and all this specialness. One lady said something about Saturn and then the other lady said would you like a Saturn initiation? i was like whats that...she told me about what saturn represents and then i was like sure. So they did this specifice mantra for it and specific tones with some tuning fork like things(which is what the egyptian ankh was used for, initiations, (some highely sexual))....So when it was all over i told the ladies about Tool, what they were about and some lyrics. And they flipped out. I had tool shirts on both days of the fesitval. these are like 40 year old women...a couple were about 55 to sixty. They were very excited, and when i told her the lyrics to The grudge she was very cool about it. and she told me to print out some tool lyrics to bring to her. so here i am the next day with tool lyrics for a 50 year old lady! So two days later, my on again off again relationship with my girlfriend came to a head and we broke it off. WE didnt speak for a year, but we are back friends now. But thats what it means.....choose one or ten. choose between the extremes. the opposites, which is what everychoice comes down to, two opposites. (holy ****, cnn is on and its talking about the nasa satellite probe thing that is on its way to Saturn! its name is kasini(spelling) but it will get closer than voyager and look at its moons as well. can we say synchronicity here this early morning) anyways... |
