It was a great movie. The end really pissed me off.

I really love the opener song. I think its "pusher" by steppenwolf.

I don't think this thread has ever covered steppenwolf.
Steppenwolf are good, they actually have good stuff outside of Born To Be Wild. My dad has a few of their albums.

jpj 12-24-2004 10:16 AM

The only Steppenwolf album I've heard is Live, and I think it's really good.

Badmoon 12-24-2004 10:18 AM

JPJ, is your AIM connection working? If so I want to send you some Panic samples.

jpj 12-24-2004 10:48 AM

It was working yesterday, so go ahead and send away.

I found a bunch of new records I never knew my Dad had. Stuff like Neil Young, Zappa, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, James Gang, 10 Years After, and the Guess Who.

Nice dude. My parents music suck, so I can count on that not happening to me.

BludgeonySteve 12-24-2004 11:06 AM
well the only classic rock i like is pink floyd, cause, one day me and my friends were all stoned, and then my friend pulled out dark side of the moon and made me listen to the whole cd with headphones on, and after that, i started looking at the world way differently.

other than that, i think classic rock bands are sort of dumb. i mean like.. led zepplin, they will never change, all there songs are there. thats it. no new songs or anything. i think people obsess over them too much, i see kids with led zepplin shirts, kiss shirts, ad/dc, but i ask them what there favorite songs are, and for example, i ask them whats your favorite led zepplin song, and they say stairway to heaven, and i ask there favorite album, and they say "i dont know..." like they dont even know any albums. it just pisses me off that they are trying to look so cool.
Hey, guess what, *******! I'm breaking my ban to own you!

First of all, if you say you like Dark Side Of The Moon, than you basicly would like all of Pink Floyd. And if you like Pink Floyd, there are dozens of great prog bands which are classic rock that you would like.

When you say that Led Zeppelin will never change, that's completely stupid. They broke up SO OBVIOUSLY THEY CAN'T MAKE NEW SONGS IF THEY BROKE UP, *******. Secondly, if you listen to their first 2 studio albums and then listen to everything from Houses Of The Holy onwards, you will see a big change in their sound. Guess what, their sound did change! It's extremely diverse. So what if Led Zeppelin isn't coming out with any new music? That's why some nice people invented remastering so we can listen to their amazing music any time we want!

Ever think that maybe those people that you talked to are classic rock posers? They listen to maybe 2 songs and than wear the shirts? We in this thread are not like that. There are many people who are not like that, and it's very stupid to judge an entire period of time in music by a few idiots, who like purely hard rock classic rock. Classic rock is by no means represented by posers who wear band shirts of mainstream bands just to look cool. It's represented by this thread.

I doubt you've even heard 5 classic rock bands. You're making a judgement on something that you know nothing about, ya know what that's called, dumb****? It's called prejudice and that makes you a moronic ******* who needs to ask for their account on here to get deleted before you post some more.

I have read through most of this thread, heh which took a while, but I noticed you guys don't talk much about The Rolling Stones...I guess no one here is too interested in them or maybe you are and its implied that you guys are all big fans. I myself am not into them much, I have one of their greatest hits Cds which is good enough for me since I'm not too heavily into them.

jpj 12-24-2004 12:24 PM

I'm not a huge fan, but I like to lsten on occasion. I have the 40 Licks one, and it's all I need.

Woodstock 12-24-2004 12:25 PM

I love the Stones, they were really great songwriters.

They are ok, but im not really into them either.

Woodstock 12-24-2004 12:39 PM

I'm surprised you guy's don't like them that much. They've written some great songs, and when you have a greatest hits album with 40 songs, then I think they're pretty good

Illmatic 12-24-2004 12:41 PM

I like a few of their albums.

i have a lot of their later albums for some reason. Some Girls, Made in the Shade, Tatoo You, **** a few more but i can never remember them, and also the 40 licks cd. i want some of their sixties stuff but i can't find any around.

and i am a big fan. i wonder if the band would have been different if Brian Jones hadn't died. Because at one point of time he was their main songwriter/creative guy, but near the end of his life he didn't really do much. i wonder if he ever woulda made a come-back and started writing great songs again.

They haven't really grab my attention you know, Most bands I listen to I can sit there listening to them and say "wow they are damn good"
But them I just don't get that feeling(im not insulting there talent)

DeusExMachina 12-24-2004 01:17 PM

I personally am a huge fan of the Rolling Stones. But no one does mention them on the forums... that's weird. Someone should start a Rolling Stones thread.

I did, go ahead and bump it. ;)

thickasabrick 12-24-2004 01:20 PM

i think they wrote some amazing songs, but over the decades their great songs kinda get forgotten or not noticed in the sea of their mediocre songs.

i really like:

Can't Always Get What You Want
Sympathy For the Devil
Jumpin Jack Flash
Paint It Black
Gimme Shelter
actually i just realized how long this list could go on for so i will stop.

magicbus 12-24-2004 01:28 PM

I enjoy a few Rolling Stones songs, but they're not my favorite band in the world. Kinda plain.

After heavy analysis of my dad's music collection, I've decided he like Jeff Beck, Santana, Yes, CSNY, Frank Zappa, SRV, and Hendrix the most. He has a shitload of other music, though. These artists just come up the most.

Woodstock 12-24-2004 01:30 PM

My Dad doesn't have one Hendrix album. I asked him why and he said, "Because everyone had one."

I still wish he had one.

ledmyzeppelin 12-24-2004 01:34 PM

i think led zeppelin is the best band, stairway to heaven is the best song that has ever been written, but i hate those kids that just listen to classic rock just cuz they think theyre coool....like ac/dc and metallica are the biggest in my school rite now, i can admit i liked acdc at one point, but i've been listening to the old stuff like foreigner, styx, the beatles, and many many others, its good that the other people are gettin' into great music but getting shirts and talking about it all the time and knowing nothing about it, is annoying

1. Stairway To Heaven is not the greatest song ever written.
2. Metallica is not Classic Rock.
3. Foreigner and Styx are poison to human ears.
4. Punctuation is the greatest thing ever, don't take it for granted.

i was like you at one point of time. some day you will grow to realize Stairway isn't as wonderful as you once thought. sure it's a great song, but you can't say it's the best that has ever been written. i'm not a fan of styx, but foreigner is decent.

and how have you been here since october, and this is your first post? were you like thinking this whole thing up for months or something?

We never talk about the Stones. Sticky Fingers is one amazing album. Aftermath was vary influencial to The Doors.

thickasabrick 12-24-2004 02:05 PM

ya the stones were pretty ****in amazing in the sixties.

that's also how i feel about ac/dc in the seventies, but after that they kinda just became older, less edgey, and more repetitive.
