A 21" Istanbul Agop Flat Ride. It looked like it had some stir-fry residue.

I'm surprised the midget would be interested in a ride without a bell...

Don't worry about it, dogs have seizures all the time, he probably just wants attention or something.

I have to get up in the morning. I'm going to be tired. I quit drinking energy drinks because they make my chest hurt so caffeine is out of the question unless I get up early enough to make tea but tea takes patience and care and is something you should enjoy rather than -----sfs'dofispfio'ers,dflsdkfc/o noe

fishbulb 05-18-2008 09:29 PM

Can anybody mow the lawn and not take a shower? I feel so dirty afterwards.
bass drum = amazing.
Why thank you sir.

Berk 05-18-2008 09:51 PM

your snare also sounds better from when i last heard it.

fishbulb 05-18-2008 10:00 PM

Same snare drum and i believe the same tuning even, i probably changed the compression settings.

Also i set the drums up in a different part of the room so that changes things dramatically.

And after listening to it again i'm embarrassed about the way my toms sound.

Berk 05-18-2008 10:16 PM

You should be!

fishbulb 05-18-2008 10:36 PM

Think anything else needs to be changed?

Seafroggys 05-18-2008 10:37 PM

Everything sounds so up front! Especially the cymbals.

Do you hi-pass the bass drum? Sounds like it could use a little.

Berk 05-18-2008 10:43 PM
Think anything else needs to be changed?
personally, I like low, punchy toms. So prob some minimal muffling?

I really dont know, im not a recording wizz.

ace76543 05-19-2008 10:24 AM

nobody's posted here in almost 12 hours whoa

Berk 05-19-2008 10:36 AM

i know, wtf. I woke up and I still had the last post and i was like wow thats cool

billdrum 05-19-2008 11:48 AM

Fish, personally, I liked the toms. Nice and open, melodic and resonant.

Berk, how often does your dog have seizures? They're actually quite normal, especially in smaller dogs. However, if it's quite often, they have medication that will help.

ace76543 05-19-2008 11:59 AM

if you hit them harder they would sound cooler imo

i like hitting drums hard

oh yeah

Harrow 05-19-2008 12:27 PM

I just hit the motherload, a torrent with 43 drumming books in pdf format with accompanying CDs. When it's done downloading I'll put a list in the media section so people can request what they want.

This is not a good idea for several reasons.

Most of all, educators make little money off book sales as it is. Downloading major label records is one thing. Cheap books that you'd have to print out to use anyway is another.
Printing out an entire book would cost prob more then buying it.

Secondly, as mentioned, there is no realistic way you are going to really use a book on the computer for practicing without it being in hardcopy - that is unless you somehow mount your moniter so you can read if from your kit like a music stand.

Thirdly - and the real kicker - having all those "books" won't make a difference.

You should have the genuine drive of progressing as a player, which requires hard copy materials - not digital PDF forms.

Because all said and done - you Harrow might have all those books in digital format.

But truly there is no question that you have never worked through even a single one in it's intended manor in any kind of digital format.

These great educators are not wealthy, and do not make absurd profits like record companies do off albums.
If you want to learn, buy the book so you can actually use it, take notes in it, have it in front of you at the kit. And actually working through it.

Don't pirate educational material for drums. It's cheap enough as is, and far more useful in hard copy.

Janeway 05-19-2008 12:40 PM

Want to make tea.

Actually I have a 22" Widescreen LCD monitor in front of my kit so all I have to do is zoom in on the score and I can read it across the room. I have worked through several books in digital format, although I agree they are far more useful and accessible in book-form. The main reason I look for material like this is so I can check it out before I go and purchase it. While I may find Johnny Rabb's book interesting, it doesn't have very much use for me so I wouldn't waste my money on it. I do agree that it isn't very fair to the publishers of this material that I steal it, but I am far poorer than they are unfortunately :(
