I will do "On The Beach"
Thanks :)

Now that rock not roll is gone we can talk about Led Zeppelin! :p

What's everyone's favourite Led Zep album?

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:03 PM

Zeppelin I or IV. I know, its the "fanboy" albums, but they're definitely popular for a reason.

A ban stops no one. And he hardly has a problem discussing Zeppelin.

The review, she is done.

I wouldnt call I a fanboy album. II is more of a fanboy album but I like it more.:(

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:13 PM

Perhaps I isn't so much of a fanboy album. I don't really know. I try to avoid fanboys.

I usual have to deal with them.

*looks at JPJ* :p

jk.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:21 PM

Hahaha. Actually, I was never a huge Zeppelin fan. I like them, but I don't have too many of their studio albums.

Well I actually did used to think that because of your extreme moving avatar featuring all that JPJ. and your name was funny but now i'm so used to calling you JPJ.
I know this is a classic rock thread and whatnot, but I just thought I'd like to point out, you should be more open minded before blasting an entire genre. If some huge rap fan said to you "man, Classic Rock is a bunch of whiney talentless hacks, they all suck!" you'd be pretty pissed, wouldn't you? Well, its a two way street. And saying "well, I'm right and they're wrong" makes you look like a five year old. There are some unbelievably talented rappers. Are they the most talented musicians? Maybe not. But the lyrics can be incredible, the music they write can be incredible. Does gangster rap tend to be repetitive and mindless? Sure, I'll agree that a lot of it is. But some rap is very good.
:thumb:

Well put.

In fact, I'm gonna give you rep for that after I post this.
I'm starting to get really into The Who. I have Who Are You, My generation, and Tommy. Any suggestions on a good album I should look to pick up?
Who's Next, Quadrophenia, and The Who Sells Out are must-haves.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 08:39 PM

Dag. Thanks a lot. I'll look out for those.

Curdy 12-23-2004 08:41 PM

well the only classic rock i like is pink floyd, cause, one day me and my friends were all stoned, and then my friend pulled out dark side of the moon and made me listen to the whole cd with headphones on, and after that, i started looking at the world way differently.

other than that, i think classic rock bands are sort of dumb. i mean like.. led zepplin, they will never change, all there songs are there. thats it. no new songs or anything. i think people obsess over them too much, i see kids with led zepplin shirts, kiss shirts, ad/dc, but i ask them what there favorite songs are, and for example, i ask them whats your favorite led zepplin song, and they say stairway to heaven, and i ask there favorite album, and they say "i dont know..." like they dont even know any albums. it just pisses me off that they are trying to look so cool.

I can't remeber what you said you had but " A Quick One" and "Live at Leeds" are amazing too.
I'm 16, this may sound strange but i love 80's metal + classic rock. My favorite bands are
Metallica, Twisted Sister, Def leppard, Quiet Riot, GnR, Bon Jovi (i know hes wega hair, but livin on a prayer is catchy), Steve Miller Band, Floyd, AC DC, Hendrix, some Motley Crue. Even though he's not rock, Bob Marley.
How could you like Metallica, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, Quiet Riot, GnR, Bon Jovi, Steve Miller, AC/DC, and Motley Crue and complain about today's music? Damn noobs.

If you approach all music like that, you are looking for an upset.
My mom got the soundtrack to the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou" from one of her co-workers. It's pretty good. Has anyone seen that movie/ heard the soundtrack?
That movie has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Have that, but not the movie yet (also very good).

I'm starting to become convinced that The Band are one of the greatest bands ever. They're all very talented, write really good music, and it seems that they'd be very amusing to watch play. Robbie Robertson is a charisma powerhouse. Watching him play guitar is so awesome, he does all those little moves and stuff. I'm diggin this stuff man. I mean DIGGIN.

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 09:57 PM

O Brother Where Art Thou has an amazing soundtrack. I love Alison Krauss SO MUCH. Also, its a great movie.

Badmoon 12-23-2004 09:58 PM

Yeah, she has a great voice.

clown_phobia 12-23-2004 09:58 PM

Does anyone prefer Pink Floyd The Wall the movie better than the album?

Badmoon 12-23-2004 10:00 PM

I don't commonly listen or watch either of them. So...kinda? :p

bob the ripper apple. 12-23-2004 10:02 PM

any body listen to 10 years after? i'd love to change the world is epic and its a great song to go to sleep to. high.

also.. rory.. rory gallagher? gallaghan? forgot the name. british guy. he owns, and in my opinion he was 20 years ahead of his time.

magicbus 12-23-2004 10:03 PM

I like a few of the songs better on the movie. Like Empty Spaces has more lyrics, which are awesome, and the animation with the song is amazing.

It is Gallagher. And I think he's Scottish, or Irish.

Badmoon 12-23-2004 10:05 PM

Yeah, they're pretty good. I'm pretty ignorant to them though :).

DeusExMachina 12-23-2004 10:06 PM
Does anyone prefer Pink Floyd The Wall the movie better than the album?
Well, animations are really cool in the movie, and the extra songs are cool. But, they really butchered some of the songs in the movie (namely, Mother) so, its a tough call. They're both great in their own ways.

wanton 12-23-2004 10:10 PM

I enjoy listening to them although I've only heard:

I'd Love to Change the World
I'm Going Home
Love Like A Man
Stoned Woman

Badmoon 12-23-2004 10:12 PM

What did you do to Duane!?!?!

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-23-2004 10:13 PM
My favorite album is possibly Waiting for the Sun. I also like L.A. Woman and The Doors, but The Doors S-T sounds more amateurish compared to the others. Probably because all the tracks on that were done in a couple of takes.
It was still ****en amazing even if they only did it in a few takes. Your the 1st person to mention how great Waiting for the Sun is that Ive seen :) . It has my favorite song ("Spanish Caravan"), Part of "The Celebration of the Lizard King" ("Not to Touch the Earth") and possibly the greatest anti-war song ever ("The Unknown Solider"). If your a Doors fan and have not herad this album get it its well worth a listin.

P.S I had a long day.

Jam2Me 12-23-2004 10:51 PM

I'm watching Easy Rider right now.

All I can say is...WOW.

What a great movie.

Classic Rock value of this post- If classic rock was a movie it would be Easy Rider. Great soundtrack to this movie, lol better than O Brother Where Art Thou? :D

I've gotta try watching next time under the influence of something, I'm debating between a couple choices.

It was a great movie. The end really pissed me off.

I really love the opener song. I think its "pusher" by steppenwolf.

I don't think this thread has ever covered steppenwolf.
